GEO 210 W2022 Dr. Greg Oulahen GEO 210 Term Test 1 Instructions: This is a take-home test with full access to course materials. There are three questions. Answer each question in long-form written answers. Each answer should be in the range of 200-400 words. Submit your completed exam in pdf or word doc format to the assignment folder before Friday, March 4 at 11:59pm. This timeline is to provide flexibility for all class members. Use course materials to answer the questions. Additional research beyond these materials is not required. Referencing sources in your answers is not required. Draw in, integrate, interpret, and extend as much course material as possible to answer the questions. The exam is to be completed individually. Exams will receive originality assessments and similarity reports from Turnitin. Total marks = 30 (each question /10) Questions: 1. Describe one strength and one weakness of each of the four hazards paradigms. Which paradigm do you think can contribute most to reducing disaster losses, and why? 2. Describe the broad global trends that exist in the human and economic costs of disasters. Why do these trends exist? Provide two examples of past disasters that illustrate these trends. 3. Describe how the drivers of climate change are affecting radiative forcing. What is the single largest contributor to climate change? What has changed about radiative forcing and how has this affected parts of the climate system?
