Bonilla-Silva meant that you don’t need to be racist to say/do racist things and perpetuate
this system, and speaks to the idea of colorblindness. In this “ideal” colorblind society that
has been pushed, no one is a racist. However people of color will still face racism because
implicit biases will still be held, but not broken down because conversations are not
happening.
