As I consider my fears about pursuing college, I am met with fear as I begin. Writing, writing a paper or discussion, anything someone else will read. I can write all day long in my journal. It's only seen by God and me. Where's there fear in that? He is my source of strength and peace. I know I can lay anything I am facing at His feet, and He is faithfully there. I take all fears to Him and have learned there can be a big difference between emotions and truth. Truth being, His truth is reality, and emotions are what we experience from living in this world, but they do not always uphold His truth. Sadness, disappointment, anger, stress to name a few, and yes, fear,
can bring thoughts that are not His truth. Fear comes in many forms, strengths, and appearances. Sometimes it's not even recognized for what it is. I enjoyed the videos in this discussion, especially the first one, How to Overcome
Fear. Recognizing fear for what it is and where it's coming from is half the battle and will be a great part of the plan to pursue college. The lizard brain, and its trouble
determining the difference between true danger and the best learning opportunity. Recognizing and understanding
exactly why I am experiencing these fears will assist in conquering them as I take them to the Father.
“So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for
I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand” Isaiah 41:10
I choose God, whom I call Pappa, as my first and foremost plan for anything. When I feel fear or any difficult emotion, I rely on Him to guide me through. Holy Spirit, whom I call El Shaddai, is our comfort and wisdom. More specifically our navigator. I am already choosing to do this in everyday life. If I begin feeling anxious, and hesitation, or the mind takes me to some sort
of procrastination, I will stop and bring to my attention why I am feeling this way. Take it all to Pappa and allow Him to remind me of who He is and who He created me to be. Isaiah 41:10 brings confidence to trust in His faithfulness.
“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” Mathew 6:33
Beginning with this first and most important step will be the best plan I could have. Adding all the tools and resources available from CCU, I believe I will be able to overcome anything that comes at me pursuing college.
