A Description of the History of the NFL Essay

America needs the NFL for it is the biggest thing in American. People from various beliefs and backgrounds can come together for the same common goal in their team. It gives Americans something to believe in, something to rely on. Its reputation is held high, regardless of politics or religion the NFL is something Americans can agree on. Football means so much to Americans that they have projected so much belief and desire onto football it has been there for whatever Americans have needed it to be when times have been tough.

Since the early 1950’s the NFL has been one of the most powerful businesses in America and has yet to show signs of recession. With the NFL now airing on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays, fans can enjoy watching football almost every night of the week during the fall. As the NFL’s ratings continue to climb, the league proves that it can be successful in finding new ways to grow its power and profits. There are a lot of reasons why the NFL has become so powerful, but a lot of the success is attributable to the early factors that helped the league grow into the multibillion dollar business that it is today. The NFL continues to grow its power and profits because of the creation of new stadiums, the Super Bowl, television, and most importantly the popularity of football in society.

A lot of people state that since there are so many teams, there is no way to play each team. This is wrong for the following reason. Every team doesn’t have to make the playoffs. Only one of every conference (and one from the FBS Independents with six teams in them). Every team has a conference (besides the FBS Independents) which means every team has a chance to compete in their conference championship game. This would mean that every team in each conference (including an FBS Independents championship) would have an equal opportunity to make the playoffs (NCAA

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams. The NFL is based in North America having 16 games for the season followed by 6 teams from each conference advancing to the playoffs. The NFL was formed in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association (APFA) before renaming itself the NFL in 1922.

Fun Fact the NFL was founded on August 20th 1920 in ohio. First Super Bowl was January 15th 1962 against the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The draft is when the NFL administers a draft in which each team in turn, starting with the one with the poorest record in the previous year, selects players. Each team’s coaching staff evaluates all the players in the draft regarding the team’s needs and strategies.

The MLB is actually a joint organizational structure that has operated both the American League and the national League since 1903. It is composed of thirty teams. All thirty teams are from the US except for one from Canada.

The first professional baseball league was born in 1871. Mostly, by the beginning of the twentieth century many large east-coast cities had teams of their own. The league was split into two divisions, National and American. During the regular season a score was kept, and by the end of the season whichever team had the most victories was said to have won the pennant. The Super Bowl was only possible from the NFL and AFL agreeing to merge in 1966. In January 1967, the first ever Super Bowl, which at the time was known as the NFL-AFL National Championship showcased the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the first Super Bowl did not sell out the stadium the game managed to reach the largest television audience for a sporting event with an astonishing 65 million viewers.
