An adjusting journal entry or an adjusting entry, involves an income statement account (revenue or expense) along with a balance sheet account (asset or liability) and typically relates to the accounts for accrued expenses, accrued revenue, prepaid expenses and unearned revenue. (Investopedia.com, n.d.) When accounts are not updated to show the correct transactions or a mistake has been made, adjusting entry will provide insight in order to ensure all entries are appropriately recorded. This action will then reflect the accurate amounts of expenses and revenues. Once this is done, a business may close accounts for the ending period.
Adjusting entries have four types in which provide a method of breaking down transactions. When a business purchases supplies in order to stock, this would be considered a prepaid expense. After an adjusting entry is made for a prepaid expense, the ledger would reflect the correct portion of that expense, in this case supplies, in which was incurred during a specific time. (Editorial Board, 2012, p. 42) A depreciation expense is a sub category of a prepaid expense. This occurs when an asset is allocated over a certain amount of time. An

With this, a payment is received before a product or service is rendered. An example is when a lawyer is put on retainer for future correspondence. A third type of an adjusting entry is an accrued expense. These incur during one monthly, quarterly, or annually accounting period but paid for in the next. The goal of communications is to make ethics a live, ongoing conversation. If ethics is something that is constantly addressed, referenced frequently in company meetings, and in personal conversations among managers and employees, then people are more aware and more willing to defend the company’s policies when they see or hear of problems. Employees will hold other employees responsible and accountable for living the company’s values.
investors, auditors, executives of the business, etc.) an overview of the financial results and condition of the company. The major financial statements that come out of the accounting cycle are income statements, balance sheets, Statement of cash flows and Statement of retained earnings. Income statements are considered the most important of all the financial statements since it presents the operating results of an entity , e.g. revenues, expenses, and profits/losses generated during the reporting period (Bragg, 2017). Balance sheets provide reports of assets, liabilities, and equity of the entity as of the reporting date and can be considered the second most important statement because it provides information/figures about the liquidity, as well as the capitalization of a company (Bragg, 2017). Statement of cash flows exhibits the cash inflows and outflows that occur during a reporting period, which provides a useful comparison to the income statement, particularly when the amount of profit or loss reported does not reflect cash flows encountered by the businesses (Bragg, 2017). Statement of retained earnings is the least used financial statement that provides information regarding changes in equity during the reporting period and can include information such as: sale or repurchase of stock, dividend payments, and changes caused by reported profits or losses. Statements of retained earnings are often

I believe that Excel can enhance the younger generations math learning skills. I think that as long as the basic math skills of calculating numbers are learned and mastered first, then Excel can be of a great benefit in the development of the critical thinking skills that are necessary to implement all of the different formulas. I believe that this kind of critical thinking that is required to realize how to formulate the data is a very important skill to develop. I do think that the younger generations and everyone else's calculating skills become a "little rusty" because of continually relying on Excel to do all of the calculating instead of doing the math out longhand, but this can occur even through the use of calculators. I think Excel
