In Algebra II Trigonometry, there are many equations and functions used to guide us for solving problems, whether it be in real-world or hypothetical situations. Logarithms and exponential functions are just some examples of those equations. Exponential functions and Logarithms work well together because they "undo" each other, making them very useful and unique. Logarithms are used more commonly in everyday life than you think. Using logarithms is an easier way to describe numbers in powers of ten, such as if we are using terms like interest rate or double digits. The author thinks it is important that they are the cause for an effect and the shared “effect” is seeing something develop and become larger. From the article about Using Logarithms in the Real World, “logarithms find a plausible cause for that effect and puts numbers on a human-friendly scale” (2). They describe changes in terms of multiplication and when dealing with a series of multiplications, logarithms help count them. An easier way to think of them is that it says how many of one number you need to multiply to get another number. Logarithms show up in everyday life in six-figure salaries or two-digit expenses where we describe numbers in terms of their digits. Logarithms are none the less extremely important …show more content…
From the article about Applications of Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, it discusses how, “the applications are drawn from many different disciplines, [but] the mathematics remains essentially the same” (1). The author thinks it is important that although exponential functions are used most commonly in the financial world, that does not mean we do not use it in other aspects of life as well. Just remember when exponential functions are involved, functions are increasing or decreasing very quickly. An exponential function is a mathematical function of the following
B. Rates are often used, instead of absolute numbers, to determine how frequently a population or demographic event is occurring—rates show how common an event is. Rates also make it possible to compare countries that vary greatly in
* Given linear and exponential data, interpret the rate of change within the given context.
In the following graph, the exponential function has a very similar trend to the trend of y=2x. It is important to note that the exponential function is actually y=ax where a > 0. Using y=1x would only produce a horizontal line. Therefore the next value used was y=2x. In order to make the function fit better with the points we make transformations that slightly change the function. The first step is to lower the line so that the line can become closer to the data points. With this data set it sloa stands to reason that there are negative numbers very much possible. It would work in the exponential equation 2x-1.
Mathematics is a logical and precise subject. Without precision in math everything is imprecise. A modest inaccuracy can produce a catastrophe. For example, if a doctor fails to calculate the correct amount of medicine to give a patient, it could result in a serious complication, such as death. A further example is the logic and precision it takes to construct a building. If there is one minor miscalculation the whole building could collapse, causing mass destruction.
We can use this information for simple division, multiplication and even when multiplying and dividing larger numbers. This information can be used when cooking, grocery shopping, building things etc..
Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations).
Logarithms, so easy log a of x is so breezy it’s one over x and multiply it by the natural log of a to get it Logarithms, so easy log a of x is so
2. The rule in algebra about adding exponents is to ONLY add the base numbers if they are the same. If the base numbers aren't the same then you have to make the numbers the same before you continue.
This topic relates to exponents because there are statistics showing how these rates changed over time. According to the graphs in my PowerPoint, you can see that the number of fatalities involving people DUI has decreased greatly. They exponentially show how the number of deaths decreased from a certain time period.
Geometry and Algebra are so crucial to the development of the world it is taught to every public high school in the United States, around 14.8 million teenagers each year (National Center for Education Statistics). Mathematics is the engine powering our world; our stocks, economy, technology, and science are all based off from math. Math is our universal and definite language “I was especially delighted with the mathematics, on account of the certitude and evidence of their reasonings.” (Rene Descartes, 1637).
Electrical engineers have an impact on the world in this way by trying to find better energy sources to fuel us and keep the power on but what helps electrical engineers is what tools they use.
You can prove that it is creative because a computer can’t solve this equation, (a computer thinks logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can’t work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform things in a certain order it can’t ‘guess’ or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative aspect.
The mean μ and the variance, Var(x), of the Logarithmic- inverse Lindley random variable X are, respectively, given by
Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies the relationship between the sides and the angles of a triangle. The word trigonometry was derived from the Greek word trigonon which means triangle and metron for the word measure. While the other branch of mathematics, geometry which means earth and measurement, is concerned with the properties of space and figures.
It can be used for mathematical, science or engineering calculations that you want to be solved.
