I. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SESSION: (1-2 paragraphs).
• The goals for the session were to set the agenda, talk about information acquired during the intake, explain the cognitive model, do a mood check, find out what problems Rachel wanted to work on, address one or two of those problems during this session, provide several homework assignments, and elicit feedback about the session.
• Rachel began by sharing that she spoke with her ex husband, which caused her to feel anxious and was the main topic she wanted to focus on. Rachel also stated that she wanted to address her sleep issues during the session. Therefore, we spent the majority of the time talking about her feelings related to her husband and coping strategies she could adopt to make her feel better. Towards the end of the session, we spoke briefly about her sleep issues. Specifically, Rachel described why she has difficulties falling asleep, so I gave her some feedback and a homework assignment that will hopefully allow her to be mindful about her thoughts while she is trying to sleep.
• Throughout the session, I picked up on two dysfunctional beliefs. First, Rachel stated, “I’m all alone, so I cannot sleep”. Second, she said, “I wish I could never see my husband again”.
II. SESSION AGENDA
• Rachel and I chose to focus on her anxiety, which was related to her thoughts about her ex-husband. More specifically, I showed Rachel how it was her thoughts about her ex-husband that caused her to feel

Some people say that with dedication, persistence, and time people can accomplish any goal. Others say that people are limited in what they can accomplish and need to be realistic when setting goals.

Sleep is often over looked as an intervention for ME, but through the improvement of environment, medication, life style changes and self-help strategies, sleep can be improved to help provide symptom relief and increase an individuals energy envelope. It was a warm afternoon, characteristic of those in New England when one last bit of summer lingers before the emergence of autumn colors. I was a counselor in acollege counseling center, and the afternoon had been quiet as is usual for that time of year when students are first settling in on campus. Our office managerinformed me that a student had just walked in requesting to talk to a counselor about his difficulty sleeping. My first thought was that a student coming forcounseling on a beautiful afternoon and presenting with sleep disturbance would be dealing with the typical issues of a new student adjusting to college. I had no
A single-system research intervention was implemented with a 46-year-old Caucasian female as the subject. The participant is a single personal trainer who lives in Northern New Jersey. The subject has recently dealt with various life changes, such as the death of a family member and the sudden illness of another. She has reported having great difficulty falling asleep due to feeling “anxious” and her “mind racing” throughout the evening hours. The subject reports that it takes well over an hour for her to fall asleep on any given night. Due to her health conscious daily living practices, she is uninterested in utilizing any form of medication to assist her in falling asleep. Additionally, due to the subjects busy lifestyle and early morning work hours, she expressed great interest in attempting to determine a method that would assist in regulating her sleep schedule, as currently, it is negatively impacting various areas of her life.
Jeff Clarified to Jan how Kim felt at home. He gave specifics Kim was angry and has a huge amount of sorrow about the alcohol, and Kim has many tears fall. Jeff also, went on to rational thoughts about bringing the baby over to the house. He explained in a very compassionate manner that Kim and I both did not want it to be the same as the birthday. Jan looked surprised at what Jeff had believed. The thoughts that he spoke about Kim, appeared to impact Jan. Jan stayed and continued to listen.

The amount of sleep was self-reported by participants using a sleep diary. In the sleep diary participants would note the time they got into bed, how long it took them to fall asleep, the number and duration of awakenings during the night, what time they awoke, and what time they got out of bed. Misinformation or false memory was evaluated in a few different phases. In the first phase the participants took part in a
While watching L’s session, I was reminded of how hard difficult can situations can be for the parents. The mom appears overwhelmed and frustrated. During the session, I noticed that reflections were used to validate the mom’s emotions.
Many disorders and diseases can result from abnormal sleeping patterns that are triggered from sleep deprivation. The most common forms of sleep disorders include insomnia, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy (NINDS 10). All of these sleep disorders begin from sleep deprivation and can be managed once they are diagnosed correctly. According to Urban, “Nervousness, dizziness, and sleeplessness may occur”, as a result of sleep deprivation (1). This proves that the slightest health changes can occur if sleep deprivation becomes a problem. According to NINDS, “The disorders and the resulting sleep deprivation interfere with work, driving, and social activities” (10). This shows that the effects of being sleep deprived can drastically change one’s everyday
Sleep disorders have always surrounded me through family and friends. though I never suffered with any sort of sleeping disorder, I was well aware of how unnerving it can be toothless who suffer from it. I did not know all of the different types there were, and was intrigued when reading chapter three of my psychology book. I had assumed that nigh terrors, which I used to think were the same as nightmares, were over exaggerations of a person’s scary dream. Sleepwalking also held interesting facts that I didn’t know prior. Having a best friend who occasionally sleepwalks, I was always interested in why she would seldom remember both walking and talking. I also appreciated learning about sleep apnea because my father used to struggle with it and would worry my mom about his breathing when he was asleep.
