With the combine this weekend, will the Steelers be scouting an upgrade at corner? One of the main question for the Pittsburgh Steelers this off-season is how will they go about fixing the secondary. Is it best to do it through the draft or free agency? We have explored several corner prospects over the past few weeks. Each would be a tremendous upgrade to what is already on the Steelers roster. Today we examine another possible addition at cornerback: Virginia Tech’s Kendall Fuller. And I know you are thinking, yes there is already a Fuller playing cornerback in the NFL. Kendall’s brother Kyle is a Pro Bowl player for the Chicago Bears. But wait, there’s more. His other brother Corey is currently a wide out for the Detroit Lions while his oldest brother Vincent played seven seasons in the …show more content…
The young corner suffered a torn meniscus, putting his junior season in doubt. Despite the injury, Fuller played through the injury, but was shut down after three games to have surgery. This isn’t the first time Fuller has played through injury. He played through a fractured wrist in 2014. Fuller definitely has a high pain tolerance, something Steeler fans always respect. Fuller possesses some of the best read and react skills of any corner in this draft. This allows him to play aggressive with the receiver , but he does need to improve his jam skills at the line of scrimmage. Too many times Fuller has been burned by the vertical passing game. But don’t let that care you away from this young star. Fuller just turned 21 years old a few weeks ago. He has all the potential in the world to grow into one of the top cornerbacks in this league. His brother did start right away for the Bears in his rookie season. Kendall could be able to do the same, but coming off injury teams might take it slow with him. For a team like the Steelers, bringing Fuller on quick could benefit fit them week one if he is 100%
He has had 2 concussions, a cervical neck injury, hand finger fracture, inguinal hip sprain, pedal achilles tear, and a pedal ankle sprain. All of those injuries could of ended his career if he didn’t treat it right. The main injuries that were kind of major was when he fractured his finger, broke his foot, and just had an injury a couple days ago injuring his lower leg. As if he had any more problems while playing football I don’t know.
His stats would tell us he is but really, how important are stats, considering the other three we’ve mentioned had outstanding numbers. However, when Brandon Streeter, quarterbacks coach for Clemson, was asked about how Watson would fair in the NFL, he had nothing but a positive outlook for his star. “He eats and breathes football. He’s in the film room all the time. He’s a gym rat type of kid, and that’s what NFL quarterbacks are made of. I think he’s going to have no problem transitioning to the NFL.”
James Eric Berry, nicknamed "The Fifth Dimension," is an American football safety for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Chiefs fifth overall in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Then of course, there is also the conundrum of holding a future franchise QB as a keeper. Six quarterbacks were selected in the first three round of this year’s NFL draft, but one in particular jumps off the board as ultra-intriguing.
The New England Patriots once again had a busy NFL Draft, which included multiple draft pick trades, and preemptive moves that moved their draft picks around. At the end of the day, the team picked four players in the draft, while also acquiring tight end James O'Shaughnessy from the Kansas City Chiefs.
If you are a football fan, then you will understand when I say there are so many good NFL players today. There is new talent added to the mix all the time. Devonta Freeman is one of those stars. He was drafted in 2014 to the Atlanta Falcons and he had a great rookie year. As his time with the Falcons goes on, his play making, and experience are improving and he looks like he's going to be a big factor in the NFL. He did not get where he is now easy though, in fact it was tough for him. His perseverance on the field is probably because of the perseverance he had to have growing up.
In the 2009 NFL Championship Game loss to the New Orleans Saints he recorded multiple fumbles to end his best season yet with 1,760 yards and 18 touchdowns. After a tired 2010 in 2011 he tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee. For the first time we was left off the Pro-Bowl roster, and faced serious questions of his athletic
As of right now, the Bucs have Z-E-R-O players with any ability to pass rush. Sure, Robert Ayers is good at what he does, but don't expect more than 6 sacks out of him. William Gholston is a great “run stopping” left DE but don't expect him to get to the opposing QB very often. Last year we drafted Noah Spence and he has shown flashes of his skills, but he has been injured most of the year.
I've spoken before on the spark Alvin Kamara brings to an offense, and I really was hoping for him to fall to us a year ago, but things happen, and luckily for us, Ronald Jones fell to us instead this year. His home run ability will be a very nice weapon that our offense has missed for the last few years.
Lots of eyes will be on Butler, who has the size and speed to potentially take over for Williams – the current Z receiver on the roster. Williams should put up better numbers than Mohamad Sanu – the Bengals’ former number two receiver who signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Falcons. If Sanu’s 33 catches, and near 400 yards receiving last season set the table for the deal he signed this offseason – Williams should be seeking something
“He’s a straight out football player,” wide receiver David Sills said. “You saw that last week in the Virginia Tech game, him making plays with his feet, doing other things. He’s much more than just a quarterback. He’s just a ball player. That’s what he is.”
Although he hasn’t been able to get many minutes of game time under his belt, he is grateful for his previous year because he was able to watch the older players and take their techniques to learn from and apply them to how he’s currently training and playing. There is only pure excitement and confidence in his team going into the 2017-2018 season because he’ll be able to display what he’s been practicing and knowing that “the team’s mentality is all coming together.” He is excited for the next few years of football and hopes that he is able to grow in his skills to eventually lead him to the NFL, if that doesn’t work out though he is fully accepting of God’s plan for
Football players who are subjected to multiple repetitive blows to the brain can experience serious long-term damage that can affect every aspect of their lives. These blows have a cumulative effect on the brain that can lead to symptomatic concussions, asymptomatic post-concussive abnormalities, and altered neurological and cognitive functioning. Furthermore, participating in tackle football prior to the age of 12 places an individual at an even greater risk for degenerative damage. Kevin Turner, an Ex-New England Patriot and Philadelphia Eagle, took these risks. He began his career as a tackle football player at the age of 5 and ended his career after playing in the NFL for only eight years. In 2010, he was diagnosed with debilitating ALS
Bennie Logan recorded the best run stop percentage of any NFC DT in 2015 Per Pro Football Focus. Logan ranked second overall in "Run Stop Percentage," In the NFL by Pro Football Focus. Philadelphia's run defense was the best in the league early in the season then Logan got injured and things went downhill for the Eagles. Logan and Cox make up one of the best DT pairings in the NFL.
Now that you’ve secured a couple of running backs it’s time to start looking for your value picks. Every draft is different, and who you choose will be decided as much by what you still need, as by what other players have drafted. If your fellow league members start grabbing quarterbacks early for example, you might find a premier wide receiver ripe for the picking. Don’t jump on the bandwagon and start drafting quarterbacks just because
