Throughout history, Christians have persecuted Jews. Jews have been the target of prejudice and many conversion attempts. However, Christianity has the same origins and core beliefs as Judaism.
The similarities between Christianity and Judaism are numerous. For example, both Jews and Christians believe in monotheism, the faith in one god. Furthermore, both religions worship the same God, although they name Him differently. The Christian name for God is Jehovah, while the Jews’ is Yahweh. This is because Christianity was derived from Judaism.
Both religions believe in the teachings of the first five books of the Bible. The five books of Moses are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,

The New Testament is another area where Jews and Christians disagree. The New Testament, because men wrote it, holds no truth in the eyes of the Jews. Christians follow the New Testament because the disciples, and people who witnessed the miracles of God wrote it.
Christianity and Judaism differ in their holy books as well. The Mishna and Talmud are the two main Jewish books, other than the Torah. The Mishna elaborates upon the teachings of the Torah, while the Talmud explains these teachings. The Christian Holy Bible consists of two parts, the Old and New Testaments. The Old Testament, sometimes called the Books of Moses, is the same as the Talmud. The books of the New Testament contain the church’s statement of who Jesus was, and what his life and teachings meant.
Although Christian and Jews have a history of fighting over their differences, they also share a wealth of commonalities.

Judaism and Christianity are key religions in the history of our world, and are still around today. Both of these religions are monotheistic, believing in only YHWH, the God of Abraham. However, if we look deeper, there are many more similarities and differences in these two religions. Some things that are comparable are their political figures, their holy works, and social beliefs.
Judaism and Christianity each have their own beliefs and traditions, with Judaism being a religion that shaped Christianity as it is today. Both religions were shaped by the Hebrew Bible or the Old Testament, which is considered by many to be the biblical law of God (Molloy, 2009). Christians however, consider that in the New Testament with the arrival of God in human form, that our sins were forgiven. In its earliest stages, Christianity was considered a sect of Judaism. Jesus and his apostles even considered themselves Jewish in the early years of Christianity. While followers of Judaism do believe in one God, they do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah or that God is the Holy Trinity.
Although Christianity and Judaism are very different religions, they are similar in their inspiration of sacred texts. While Christianity has the Bible, and Judaism has
The Old Testament is the largest part of the bible nestled behind the leather binding in the front of the book. Unlike most books, told from one-person or even two this is comprised of multiple, some stories even having two different versions in another point of view; over time it has become a large collection of ancient texts written and re-written by different authors and editors over the many years. The stories show the ancient Israelites, they show the laws, and rituals, which make up their religion and the small embers, which will one day, turn to a flame that is Christianity. The Jewish people view these stories as collected in what they call the Torah, is the collection for what makes up their history and the promise that God gave to them, as well as their laws and what they worship today. For the Christians the Old Testament is still seen as sacred, but most place a stronger importance to the New Testament.
Many beliefs of Christianity come from religions other than Judaism. The Jews were the earliest believers of Christ, and had fought over whether to let non-Jews convert. They ultimately decided to spread their beliefs to everyone, and the non-Jews had brought in many ideas from their past religions, therefore, Christianity has many ideas that are based off of other religions, other than Judaism. For instance, some common ideas in Christianity and other religions are resurrection, life after death, and images or metaphors. Another reason one may be led to believe that Christianity rejects the core beliefs of Judaism is that the creation of the Bible, specifically the Old Testament, was greatly based off of the Quran. This is because the original followers invited non-Jews to convert which lead to a greater influence from other religions.
Jesus is the fulfillment of Judaic prophecies; he is the new Moses imparting the new Law of Love.
Out of all the religions in the world Christianity and Judaism in my opinion have the most similar rites and rituals. They also share many beliefs and flow many of the same rules. Even though some of the rituals might seem like they are completely different, when you look deeply and find the true meaning, you will see that most of the time they share the same message. But even with all of these similarities its the differences that make them unique and these differences are what splits them apart. The three main similarities in both Christianity and Judaism is the first step into adult hood, the last step into adult hood and the Shabbat and the Sabbath.
Both religions believe in one god, or are referenced as monotheistic. The only other religion like these two is the Islamic religion of the Muslims who worship their one god “Allah.” Judaism or the Jewish peoples god is named “YHWH” is known as the Tetragrammaton. The Christian’s god name is “Jesus.” On a daily basis Jewish are supposed to pray 3 times a day morning, afternoon, and evening. Christians pray whenever they want to.
Christians used Jewish traditions as inspiration to develop their own religion in the start of the first century. (Christianity) Jesus was born a Jew and you can trace him back to Abraham so this how Christianity and Judaism connect. Christians also believe in the Old Testament books that is the holy book for the Jewish. So, they believe in Abraham fulfilling God’s covenant, Moses leading the people out of Egypt and into the promised land, and the Ten Commandments. They study and believe all 37 books of the Old Testament, just as Jews do. (Biblical Period, Christianity) Christians also have the New Testament to go along with the Old Testament. The New Testament and the Old Testament combined make up the “Holy Bible” for Christians. (Religion:Three Religions) The New Testament records contains the accounts of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the beginnings of the Christian Church including several letters authored by the Apostle Paul, and the revelation of John concerning end times. Christians believe in Heaven and Hell. If you accept Christ Jesus into your heart and devote your life to him, then you will earn a spot in Heaven to spend eternity with the “Holy Trinity”. ( Christianity) God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit make up the “Holy Trinity” that Christians believe in. This is a
Christianity and Judaism diverged by the end of the first century because Christians had been persecuted, had differed views about Jesus, and had become anti-Jewish (Ehrman, 350). In the first century, Christians experienced persecution through imprisonment and losing rights to property (Ehrman, 350). This was done not because Christianity was illegal, but because Christians were seen as harmful to society due to closed worship that non- Christians were not allowed to experience or understand (Ehrman, 358). Those who were persecuted were gentiles and not Jewish followers (Ehrman, 352). This may be because the Jewish followers did not agree with how it was asked of them to reject what God had created to accept Jesus (Ehrman, 352).
There are many differences in Christianity, Islam, and Jewish religion of Judaism. The Christian Bible and Hebrew bible has some of the same content, but are both interpreted differently. Christians believe that Judaism is regarded as a true religion but is incomplete. Also believe Islam is a false religion and that the Qur’an doesn’t hold true information. The Qur’an and Hebrew Bible express “Jesus” as a prophet while Christian Bible represents “Jesus” as the son of God. These are huge beliefs that may not necessarily found on the surface. It is very important for people to understand these differences. This can lead to less ignorance and better understand and cooperation as a society of
Christianity founders are Jesus, Peter and Paul. Some similarities are the Concepts of God, traditionally, both religions believe that there is only one God and also follow the Old Testament. Another difference is that Judaism centring on the covenant which remains the Torah and Talmud, however, Christians have faith in their individual redemption from sin through repentance and receiving Jesus Christ as their God and Savior through faith. Therefore, both beliefs are extremely important to the followers and other
Christianity and Judaism are major world religions which, though they worship the same God, have marked differences which have caused two thousand years of strife and animosity between the two religions. In his book We Jews and Jesus, Samuel Sandmel likens the link between Judaism and Christianity to a type of parent-child relationship, saying, “Early Christianity was a Judaism; within a century after the death of Jesus it was a separate religion. It was critical of its parent, and hostile to it, and elicited from its parent reciprocal criticism and hostility.”1 Opposing views of Jesus Christ caused the initial rift between Judaism and Christianity and is the primary source of the tension between
Judaism has a concrete connection to the development of Christianity which has influenced the teachings of the religion that would not be made possible without its presence. There are similarities between the Christian faiths to Judaism from how the religions are practiced to the hymns that are shared between the two. A primary difference is the historical background to the discovery of the religions. Another difference would be the sacred text that are used in prayer considering Judaism uses the Hebrew bible and Christians use the New Testament. The Hebrew bible is referred to as the Old Testament yet that might not be the case according to Jews. A similarity from the two religions is the fact that they are both monotheism which is the belief that there is only one God. Yet the two differ on the beliefs on the one that is called God or the divine. Another fascinating similarity that the two share are the Ten Commandments. The commandments were discovered by Moses on two tablets which has been practice by Jews primarily. The adaptation of the commandments were carried over into the New Testament. Considering most of the Hebrew Bible shares a cross connection into the New testament it is clear that it would not have been created without the influence of Judaism.
The Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Christianity, are two of the most prominent religions in the world. Similar to the majority of the religions in terms of origin, Christianity emerged from Judaism. Thus, resulting in not only comparable aspects common to both religions but also vast differences as well.
