1. What is your company's strategy for exercising social responsibility and being a good corporate citizen? We try to be good corporate citizens; we do this by offering a certain percentage of our earnings to charitable organizations. We also try to increase wages and employee incentives for each plant. Another way we try to be socially responsible is by the type of material we use to create our shoes. Our company also uses recycled packaging and boxing as well as contributes to energy efficiency initiatives. We also encourage our employees to practice good ethical standards by enforcing ethical training and workforce diversity programs for all our employees.

Nowadays a large number of different companies follow the social, ethical, as well as moral consequences when it comes to their decision making. One of the relatively new concepts involving economic and social concerns is Corporate Social Responsibility. Many of us apply this approach not only at work, but also in everyday life without even recognizing.
I am tasked is to evaluate Company Q’s current attitude toward social responsibility and recommend three actions that Company Q could take to improve their attitude toward social responsibility. Many believe that business entities should have an ethical duty to be socially responsible, to work towards increasing its positive effects on society while decreasing its negative effects. Many organizations look for opportunities to be socially responsible while also creating shareholder wealth.
When an organization partakes in “proactive behavior…for the benefit of society,” it is deemed as socially responsible (P. 155). However, prior to labeling a organization as socially responsible, it is important that we first identify what specific elements of proactive behavior constitute a socially responsible business. To begin, for an organization to be considered socially responsible on the highest level, it must take a proactive approach to doing business. This is defined as “[taking a] approach to social responsibility in which an organization goes beyond industry norms to solve and prevent problems” (P.155). In addition, it is standard for a socially responsible organization to incorporate a larger scope of stakeholders, to include external stakeholders, in their business decisions to create positive externalities, and mitigate negative ones, to benefit society as a whole.
These companies have a legal obligation to follow all the laws set by the environmental authorities, federal state or the local government. Green energy is one of the major ways that the organizations are using to minimize the impact on the environment by reducing waste or minimizing the use of fossil fuels.

A company can be socially responsible in a variety of ways such as using resources that won’t hurt the environment or the consumers, and giving a portion of their proceeds to a foundation. All consumers should make every effort to make ethical purchases. This involves evaluating their morals and values in order to make sound decisions on their purchases. This also includes setting priorities and examining what is really important to the consumer. If a consumer cares about the wrongdoings of employees and expresses their concerns through purchases, then companies who do the right things would gain a large share of the market. However, consumers cannot change the world or fix social injustices totally through their purchases, some things are never seen by the consumer because companies have become great at hiding the unethical parts of business.
