I believe Friar Laurence was indeed the one to blame for this catastrophic event. He plays a major role throughout. He made careless decisions and put himself before anyone else. Many examples show this selfless behaviour. He trusted Juliet, a 13 year old girl, with a potion that would make her look dead when she was only sleeping, just so she didn’t have to marry someone else.
