Global Warming in Cuba
The discovery of fossil fuels led to times of intense economic and social globalization, as well as several advances in scientific knowledge. With these advanced technologies humans could create and do more than at any other point in history. Because of these fossil fuels, the world is how it is today. But these technologies have a setback. In recent decades, human activities have released ever-greater volumes of greenhouse gases into earth’s atmosphere, enough to affect global climate.
Global warming is a major issue in Cuba. Global warming affects Cuba’s climate in many ways. Sea level rise, lack of food, and loss of biodiversity are the three main issues Cuba faces. If we continue to let the environment deteriorate,

One effect of global warming is sea level rise. Water expands when it is warmer. Because of the overall temperature increase on Earth, the oceans are expanding and therefore causing the sea levels to rise.
The increase in temperature in Earth’s oceans also affects the marine life in cuba. Marine life in the oceans are affected by the temperature increase in oceans. One example of this is corals. Corals are largely being affected because of global warming. Coral bleaching is a huge issue in the world. When water is too warm, corals expel algae living in the tissues causing the coral to turn completely white. This is called coral bleaching. In 2005, the Caribbean lost over half of its coral reefs in one year due to a massive bleaching event.
Another effect of global warming is the extreme weather events, such as heat waves, prolonged period of drought , and heavy rains. Potable water and fertile land will be scarcer and biodiversity will be diminished.
Issues Sea Level Rise: Because of sea level rise, some parts of Cuba will be submerged underwater. The risk is so severe that scientist predict the potential loss of as many as 122 towns along the nation's coast. According to Cuba’s Ministry of Science, over 2 percent of the country could be submerged by
Global warming -- and climate change -- have long-term and short-term impacts on our environment. Caused by air pollutants such as carbon dioxide and methane, global warming is the gradual increase of air temperature across the globe. The rise in air temperatures can lead to higher extinction rates, increased risk of disease and political repercussions, such as wars over available resources. Understanding the possible short-term and long-term effects can help humans better prepare for the consequences of global warming.
In these next couple paragraphs I am going to tell you how Global Warming affects Sea Levels, Coral Reefs, and Tropical Rain Forest. The Sea levels have been rising majorly. The Coral Reefs have been decreasing. The Amazon Rain Forest have been having droughts.
Decades of research suggest that sea-levels are rising, and will continue to rise as a result of climate change. This rise will have the most immediate and significant impact on
Global warming causes the water level to rise which causes more of a problem. It can cause fresh water to be contaminated with salt changing the ecosystem completely.
Another effect of global warming is evaporating seawater. The temperature rise is forecasted to rise approximately 2.5 to 10 degrees in the next century (Jackson, #5). Since this heat is also warming the surface water of the ocean to above average temperatures, the water is slowly evaporating. Though this may sound like a good thing because sea levels are rising way too high, this is the leading factor of extreme power of hurricanes. As seawater evaporates, the water vapors that are now trapped in the air promote the longevity and size of
Climate change has been called “the biggest problem of the 21st century” by many scientists and government officials alike. Many classes at the university level cover some aspect of this complex and multifaceted problem. From the human rights that are at risk due to rising sea levels and food shortages to the environmental, geographical, and intergenerational inequities resulting from increasing greenhouse gas emissions; climate change is a serious and complex issue with little agreement on how to solve it. In this paper, I will analyze the impacts of climate change in the country that contributes most to the problem:
Global warming has influenced the ocean more than anything else has in the world. The two largest changes happening in the ocean are the rising water levels and the rising temperature. Both of these factors have arrived because of an increase in greenhouse gases and an overall rise in temperature across the globe. The most common greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, comes mainly from the exhaust of cars and trucks. Our actions are affecting the oceans and seas more than ever before.
Climate change and Global Warming are out of control. This means that, no matter what policies, processes or actions are implemented, the Earth as we know it will never be the same again. There is significant evidence to support this hypothesis. The dilemma becomes whether we can limit the damage and adapt to a new status quo or not. Rising sea levels and the damage caused by this phenomenon has irreversible impacts on coastlines worldwide. Damage to sensitive reef systems cannot be fixed. This also has permanent impacts of the ecology not just of those immediate areas but also the ocean as a whole.
Global warming has had effects on our everyday lifestyle, and the city of Miami. The coastline of Florida is rising, some places are on or even under the sea level line. Temporary solutions have been tried on Miami Beach such as more piping to block the flooding water, but that will only work for so long. The largest reason for sea level rise is the release of fossil fuels, with damage our ozone layer, which makes the Sun’s rise reflect back to Earth and the temperatures rise.
Global Warming has a huge affect on our daily lives and on animals. We lose a bunch of natural resources, especially fresh-water, because it melts into the salty oceans; however, attempts have been made including the slowing down of global warming by stopping the usage of fossil fuels; whether the attempts have been successful or not. The earth’s temperature is slowly increasing which is a massive long term factor on inhabitants all over the world. The Amazon Rainforest has also experienced many problems due to deforestation and the water circulation throughout all of the plants and trees. Global Warming is exponentially increasing causing the rapid melting of glaciers, which leads to ocean currents changing and
This happens because of the gases emitted into Earth’s atmosphere keeping too much heat inside of Earth. Global temperature rise impacts climate because as the temperature continues to rise, it is causing extreme events to occur, because they feed off of heat. Droughts are being seen more frequently because of global temperature rise. Currently major droughts are occurring in the U.S. every 20 years, but if the temperature continues to rise as it is projected, these major droughts will happen every 2 to 3 years. This is concerning, because if more gases are continuing to be emitted globally, the “blanket” that these gases (such as Carbon dioxide) form will continue to trap more and more heat as time goes on, and it will make the global temperature much greater in the future, and then more extreme events will continue to form. Extreme events are happening more frequently than they ever have before. The U.S. has experienced increasing numbers of intense rainfall each year, and hurricanes are starting to reach level 5 each hurricane
Cuba suffered a fair amount by 1991, when the Soviet Union fell and could no longer assist Cuba. The Soviet Union supported Cuba immensly to improve the lives of the poor, which is proven successful by Cuba’s outstanding educational program. The loss of their financial support, added on to the newly placed embargo, resulted in extreme poverty, and making two distinct economies, one that is made up of the residents, and another that is solely for visiters. Cuba’s economic crisis has been at it’s worst, with power blackouts occuring daily in cities such as Havana. Their GDP (gross domestic product) has crashed by almost sixty percent and most of their industial facilities are shut down almost permanently due to shortages in supply. Vehicle transportation
Global warming is an increase in the temperature of the earth's weather. Global warming is also known as the green house effect. Global warming is a very serious world issue. Most humans are trying to do as much as they can to help stop global warming. Global warming has caused many problems to the earth in addition to the humans that live here on the earth. A problem caused by global warming is very hot summers. Some summers have had days that the temperature had reached 30*C. Another Problem that global warming has caused is the melting of polar ice caps. Global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt which will cause the ice to break free as well as melt in the sea, sea levels all over the world will rise. Lastly,
The effects of global warming touch every human, animal, plant, ocean, landmass, and atmosphere level on this planet. The numerous effects of global warming are mixes of "good" and "bad" results, depending on how your definition of "good" results and "bad" results are. A "good" effect, a person could say, would be for regions with normally cold temperatures to receive warmer temperatures for their normal. Yet, there are more "bad" effects that seem to out weight the "good" effects. Some of the effects would include increases of flooding, severe storm systems, and rising sea-levels. One major consequence would be an increase of temperature globally. This would
Climate Change is one of the chief problems that the world is struggling right now. It is estimated that every decade, the world’s temperature is increasing by 1ºC and this phenomenon is called global warming. An evident example of global warming is the melting of the polar ice caps. Compare to the past hundred years, the size of the polar ice caps has reduced which resulted to the rise of the sea levels and eventually destroying the homes of those people living near the seaside. Another consequence is the increasing number of dangerous typhoons. A typhoon starts from a low pressure area in the oceans and because the temperature of the water is increasing due to global warming, more low pressure areas are formed. Next, another effect of global warming is the widespread extinction of some animals. Many animals in the Arctic and Antarctic region have migrated to other places but some of them cannot stand the heat and they died. While under the sea, many fishes have also been extinct because the coral reefs have been destroyed in the process called coral bleaching. Lastly, a common evidence of global warming is the failure of cultivated crops. Many lands have dried up and have fissures because there is no water left especially on the season of El Niño which lead to hunger and increase in demand of food.
