“Play is developmentally appropriate for primary-age children and can provide them with opportunities that enrich the learning experience” (Copple & Bredekamp 2009). Early childhood education holds two main focuses; a child-based focus and a family-based focus. Early childhood education has positive outcomes on the child through their learning experiences, and their growth and development. Based on the family, the results of early education happen through the communication that the family has with the educators and by the encouragement they get from within themselves, and also from the educators.

The American public educational system is filled with an assortment of problems. Most students are graduating with less knowledge and capability than similar students in other industrialized countries. Classroom disruptions are surprisingly common, and in some classrooms, nearly continuous. The public education system is having difficulty adjusting to the no child left behind act. The No Child Left Behind(NCLB) is a landmark in education reform designed to improve student achievement and change the culture of American’s schools.

I completed my observation hours at Williams Elementary School. This is an elementary school for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade which has a total of 671 students. Their accountability rating for the year of 2015 was rated as met standard. They met standards on all the categories which are: student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps and postsecondary readiness.

When I made the decision to get an Elementary Education degree, I realized I wanted to start looking at colleges that specialize in education degrees. I fell in love with 2 colleges; The University of Montevallo and the University of Georgia. To make my decision, I have cut down into the three most important factors for me; cost, location, and size.

National Education Association (NEA) is the oldest unions in America formed in 1857. Before this time, going to school, learning how to read and write was a privilege for children and even considered crimes for African Americans. However, this interest group was formed to give American children have the right to an education regardless of their family’s income and ethnicity and to give teachers true professional pay and status.

The Pennsylvania Principals Association, 122 Valley Road, Summerdale, PA, is a non-profit volunteer organization serving all principals, assistant principals and other educational leaders across the commonwealth. Starting in 1936, the association functioned as two separate entities, the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary School Principals and the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals (Thompson, 2014). In 2000, representatives from both associations met to discuss the possibility of joining the two into one organization to increase efficiency in day-to-day operations. In July of 2003, the merging of both associations took effect as well as operations under their new name, the Pennsylvania Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (PAESSP). Most recently, the association changed its name to the Pennsylvania Principals Association in September of 2015 (Thompson, 2014).

Children who are subject to negative or bad environments are more prone to engaging in drugs and alcohol. There are many programs that bring awareness and prevention to alcohol and drugs. The South Carolina Afterschool Alliance program provides groups and organizations with an effective after-school program plan. The after-school programs are essential in promoting awareness and prevention of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, abstinence, and violence to young children or adolescents.

Becoming a teacher is growing by the day. Many people see becoming a teacher as the best job based on the schedule. With teacher’s having holidays and summers off, it is a win, win. Other people go into teaching to have the same schedules as their children or for the love of teaching and wanting the students to have full knowledge to get them through the schools years, as well as, preparing them for after graduation. When deciding to be a teacher, no one really knows what is to be expected. Classes in college prepare you for being a teacher, but the actual teaching experience is unforeseen. Education programs to not teach you moral and character education. The UIC initiative program helps those preservice teachers have knowledge about moral development and self-perceptions of efficacy to engage in character education.

To test the hypothesis that national board certification (primary independent variable) has an effect on reading scores and reading levels (dependent variable); an ordinal regression analysis was applied using R for statistical analysis and coding of data. The ordinal regression was used to rank the predictor variables; A. Certification and Years of Experience, B. Advance degree and Years of Experience, and C. Certification and Advance Degree. In addition, reading levels were ranked from the lowest reading text level to the highest text level. The reading scores were collected from national board certified and non-national board certified teachers. The data collected included the beginning of year and end of year reading scores. The dependent variable ‘reading score’ is likely dependent on more than just board certification. Predictor variables, including advanced degrees and years of service included in the regression to give a more robust picture of the actual effect of board certification has on reading scores (McClendon, 1994). The researcher displayed data results of advanced degree and national board effects in a 2x2 contingency table. The table analysis was utilized to reveal the independence and dependence between the variables.

Student learning and ways to involve them and their parents more in their learning has remained a challenge for educators. An exploration for increasing student learning and accountability has led educators to include students in the conference process. A way of including students in their academic performance and allowing them an opportunity to directly assess their classroom work has brought about a change from traditional parent-teacher conferences to student-led conferences (Borba and Olvera, 2001). As Borba and Olvera (2001) stated, “student-led conferences motivate students to think about and act on personal initiatives to improve learning” (p. 333).

Whether or not to home-school your children is a controversial issue for thousands of parents every year. Do you want to let your children go out on their own or keep them safe at home where you can monitor their development? Many parents choose to home-school their children and there are plenty of arguments for and against this decision. When it all comes down to it the decision will be based on the socio-economic status of the family, as to whether they can afford to have one parent at home tutoring the child, instead of out working and also whether or not they feel it is safe enough to let their children go to the public schools.

The objectіves of the project have been fulfіlled by gettіng response from the Employee's assocіated to these segments through a personal іntervіew іn the form of a questіonnaіre. The responses avaіlable through the questіonnaіre are used to evaluate the Job satіsfactіon for the Employees іn educatіonal sector.
