My Personal Praxis Statement
As a college student, I often find myself inundated with work. To make it worse, these assignments usually are uninteresting and irrelevant. It is in the midst of these tedious exercises that I begin to wonder whether all of this work is worth it. When this issue creeps into my mind, I think back to my reasons for choosing to pursue this profession. When I started college, I knew that I could not function in a typical nine to five job. The banality and predictability of such a career simply did not appeal to me. So that essentially ruled out any course of study which would lead to such an occupation. I also knew that I wanted a job that would allow me to make a difference in people’s lives.

I believe that I can pass along my own wisdom while simultaneously helping them to develop a knowledge base of their own. I believe that I can get through to students and allow them to reach new realizations. I believe that I can help them to see the process of schooling as an experience that is both interesting and enlightening. What follows is my interpretation of the teaching profession. It details the methodological and ideological frameworks that I would use to construct a learning experience that is meaningful for students.
When looking back on high school, I realize that I typically learned more from teachers who made their classes interesting. By doing so, these educators utilized student interest as method of building a desire to learn. They camouflaged learning in the colors of discussion, making it seem as though we simply were carrying on a normal discourse. But each class inevitably resulted in the acquisition of a better understanding of the subject material. As a student, I found myself wanting to go to these classes. The teachers who conducted these courses made education seem enjoyable and thus created in students a desire to engage in further learning. As a future educator, I would like my class to operate in a similar manner. I want my class to be one that students look forward to attending. In the first months of college, I wasn’t so sure if I wanted to pursue architecture, finance, or engineering; I was utterly lost, unlike many of my peers. Over the months, I pondered on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Then, I realized I was never interested in obtaining a job where I would sit at a desk and stare at some numbers on a computer screen for 9 hours every day. Through my daily routine and utilization of time, I realized I found less joy in the courses I applied least outside of the classroom, yet was intrigued that with the many hours I worked in the studio. I could work on a skill in which I could use in the career I wanted; a path in which I could leave a legacy through molding the world the way I wanted to see
Teaching is an extremely important profession as we are responsible for training up the future generations of our community, country and in effect, the world. In order to be a successful and effective teacher there are some basic skills and competencies that one must possess. The experiences that students have inside (and outside) our classrooms, schools and various other institutes will shape and mould their approach to our subjects and to life in general. Facilitating a foundation in academic or philosophical pedagogy can help form a path for the educator, a path to better understanding teaching, education, learning and learners. Often, most of the programs designed for learners and the curriculum is often derived from theories. Understanding theories can help guide a teacher through their education journey. Sometimes, teachers may struggle with classroom organisation or implementing the curriculum in a considerate, all-encompassing and engaging way, especially if you are a CRT or Graduate Teacher - and often these concepts can help inspire and encourage teachers. To be an empowered teacher means your classroom and students will be empowered learners, and that is the best type of learning. There are many theories that have contributed to education as a body and has many of these theories help educational departments plan curriculums to benefit not only teachers but also all students. The objective of this study is to discuss important complexities in teacher's work. According to Churchill, et al (2013) The commitment to teaching brought to the studies and careers of teachers confirms that today's teachers and teachers previously genuinely love to learn and have a great desire to teach. Churchill et al (2013) states that this "deep commitment to humanity and making a difference in the lives of the next generation are among the qualities of people drawn to a career in teaching." (p.4) Some students are able to recall the teacher that transformed their lives and as stated by an experienced teacher and teacher educator "Whatever the situation the influence teachers have on their students I long lasting and can be profound. Good teaching makes a difference in the lives of children and young people." (Pugach, 2009, p.1 in: Churchill, et al, 2013, p.4)
What makes a class interesting? For some, the appearance of the environment of the classroom seems to have a great impact on their emotional state. In my opinion teachers are the ones who make class interesting. Teaching is a tough job, and many of us give teachers less credit than they deserve. Being able to conduct effective lessons is not an easy task to achieve. Some classes are boring, stifling or tedious enough to put someone to sleep. There are others that are so stimulating that no one wants them to end. The difference between the two is obviously how interesting the topic is, but equally important is the effort the teacher put on it to make it interesting. Professor Weinstein’s class is a shining example of the brilliant things that can happen when a teacher let his senses of humor shine through. While observing Weinstein’s US Society class, I noticed that the engagement of the class was a direct result of Weinstein’s natural sense of humor.
It is the duty of the educator to prepare students to live lives of quality and purpose. Intellectually, a life of quality involves being reasonable, adept, and thoughtful, and enables people to be good citizens of their community. Skills that will prepare students to live such a life include the ability to reason carefully, to think agilely, and to reflect deeply. These skills are attained best when students evaluate how others express their thinking and precisely what thinking is expressed. The students themselves attempt to express substantive ideas in clear and convincing ways. The teacher is foremost a model of that which is taught, which obligates the teacher to live that life of quality and purpose. As a model, the teacher is therefore able to act as a guide for others, serving occasionally as a source of knowledge but mostly as one who points the way for fellow explorers.
First of all, I want to introduce myself, I?m original from China. I love kids, so I want to be a teacher. I think children are very pure than anything. I would like to share with them my experience to help them find their own way. And I believed that everything beginning from Zero, if you want to learn, you will learn a lot. Mathematic is my favorite subjects. I believed that it should connect with real world, for instance it can connect with money. And I believed that math teacher should prepare hands-on activities to help children to explore math, do not just read text book or give students theory that is not good for children to understand. Meanwhile, the teacher should hold children interested to frost children self-motivation for math.
There are many unique aspects I have experiences that lead me to my academic background and success today which includes me being the first in my family to go to college, my health, and my work ethic.
Ever since I graduated from high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do or who I wanted to be in life. All I knew is that I wanted to do something that was worth while and would make a difference in today’s society. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go to a community college or a university. I would weigh my options between the two. I would say to myself, “If I go to a community college, I would graduate quicker. But if I go to a university, it would take longer.” In order to help make a quick and effective decision, I began to ask questions and finding out more information. We are the media and the media is us. That statement is very broad and is so for a good reason. Through out the world and the history of our society, media has transformed, melted, bent, molded and made our society and culture what it is today. But at the same time, our culture and society has done the exact same thing to media. It is hard to realize or imagine a time without televisions, telephones, fax machines, printers, computers, cell phones, pagers and other electronic technologies that have made our lives, hopefully, stress-free. Those items were and are still being invented today to make our lives easier and better, but are they really making life easier and better? Media plays a big part in defining what society wants and gets.

I believe education is a powerful and important asset to human development. Society depends on the education of our youth today and also on trying to educate students to be responsible and considerate to others. Teachers today are faced with teaching children to understand who they are in themselves and in society. An individual's development is based on their education through out their childhood. Education is the challenge to give a firm foundation for future growth. Knowing how to be an affective teacher, where the students can understand and learn is the most significant factor of being a teacher.
Philosophy of Education, is the exploration for the meaning of life. My personal philosophical views of education, is the love of teaching and learning. To serve as an mentor, confidant, instructor and to provide guidance in the area of education. To teach the younger generation that education can give great lifelong rewards.
Deciding what you want to do with your life is a very difficult decision that every person has to face in their lives, especially during their teen years when people are expected to choose a career that helps them to fulfill their dreams. Since I wasn’t the exception, and I had decided how I wanted to help people from a very young age, it took me a bit longer to realize I didn’t just want to help people, but I also wanted to do it by doing something I enjoy and love.
