My writing styles
There are many writing styles that many people pick up as they go through there many years of schooling. Each person picks up the same type of writing styles but as years go by people seem to pick up there own little types of writing style that separates them from everyone else. As I have gone through many years of English classes I have acquired more and more skills and many more are sure to come as I continue my education. My writing skills have only gotten better from the time of ninth grade English class until today. Since my days back in junior high school I was only taught the basic skills to write papers and since then they have grown to make me a decent writer. I have many strengths and also

Run-on sentences is also another one of my weaknesses as a writer which is not as big as a problem as my weakness of verb tense use. Another of many disadvantages of a writer in my point of view is my able to organize my sentences so they run smoothly. I need to work a little bit more on my internal organization of paragraphs. I don’t exactly incorporate quotes so that my sentences run as smoothly as they can. All together I think these couple of disadvantages of my writing is minimal and that I can work on these mistakes out if I would proof read my papers more in depth. If I can work out my weaknesses from my writing I will have more advantages and also be considered a better writer.
Along with disadvantages of my writing also come the advantages which make me a half way decent writer in my perspective. In writing papers I include many interesting facts about the topic that I am writing on. This skill of being able to research topics good is something that I think is one of my major strengths because of the ability to take the time and patience to weed through tons of material. I am able to take this research that I find and incorporate it into my papers in a fair enough manner that makes my papers have way decent. Another strength that I posses is my
A primary strength in my writing is my ability to present a strong argument with clarity and support. Another strength I have in writing is a considerable knowledge of appealing to audiences and I take full advantage of my persuasive nature to create solid arguments. Additionally, I find that my writing is enhanced with an extensive vocabulary and a firm grasp on the English langue. I believe these things, the ability to make a sound argument, a strong capacity to appeal to an audience and firm control of vocabulary and language conventions make me a good
I have some strengths and weaknesses as a writer that I am aware of, but honestly it is not an easy task for me. My only strength in writing is my thought process, not the actual writing itself. I have never considered myself to be good in the subject of writing, but I always try my best.
Like transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly, my writing style transformed from something mediocre to something quite exceptional. In high school, even when I took advanced placement English and Literature courses, I was never good at writing. My writing would lack structure, reasoning, syntax, and a well-defined thesis statement. My inadequate grades on writing assignments lowered my self-esteem, so I assumed I would never enjoy writing papers because I believed I could never improve. However, since attending a university my writing style has improved far beyond my expectation. My EN 101 course enhanced my understanding of the different ways I could approach my writing. Also, it enhanced my comprehension of outlines to complete assignments. Investing quality time into my writing made a substantial difference because I became a stronger writer. Through the late nights, constant revisions, and agonizing head traumas, I learned that my writing is truly spectacular whenever I incorporate well-defined thesis statements, provide sufficient supporting evidence, and maintain a clear focus in my assignments.
During my time spent in the English 110 I endured a writing style of APA that was barely introduced to me in high school. The most beneficial things I learned throughout my research process this year is the use of the writing center and librarians , the online databases, and the moodle forum post allowed me not only to succeed in English 110, but will give me beneficial techniques to use in future papers I will have to write.
How can I become a better writer? Throughout my writing experiences, I have learned I have many weaknesses along with strengths. My experiences with writing has not always been the best, but over time, with lots of practice and instructions from my instructors, I can proudly say that I have gained a better understanding on the layout of essays and papers. As well as understanding how to write correctly my goal as a writer is to learn how to overcome my weaknesses and use my strengths to my highest ability. I have many strengths, weaknesses and goals that I plan to achieve and overcome in my college career.
Writing was never a known weakness of mine. However, I could never confidently call it a strength. Throughout the course of this semester, my writing style has evolved and I have rid my writing of many habitual mistakes. I have learned to appreciate writing much more, and enjoy the moments where my mind meets words on a paper. Creativity has always been one of my strong suits, but through this course I catered my creativity to compose a variety of essays and speeches. Likewise, public speaking is something that I did not struggle with in the past, yet the structure of the class required a video speeches which was fairly new to me. All in all, I have been able to identify and modify gaps in my composition of writing and speech as a result of this course.
Whenever I get a writing assignment for class, it seems like a chore. I don’t have a problem with writing, but papers always seem to take more time than they should. Maybe this is due to poor planning on my part, but essays are usually an ordeal, and I dread actually doing the work to finish one. The task is simple enough, but putting it off always seems like a better alternative to writing. I do think about the paper that I have to write, but I do not put thoughts and ideas into a paper or outline until I absolutely need to do so. From the moment I am given an assignment sheet, I begin brainstorming about the paper. I may not use any of these ideas, but I think of them. I also have a tendency to forget good ideas, which leads me to think
Throughout this class I have learn many different writing styles. We used APA form of writing to type our paper and essay. I have also learned that it’s good to take your time and spend more time thinking about what to write, other than just righting a paper right off back. I have learned that it’s not a good idea to write a paper on the day it’s done, that’s more like a ruff daft. My teacher have helped me understand different point of writing. Which all writing deal with an ethos, pathos and logos, either one or all of them will run through anything that tell you anything in writing. From what emotion are there to who have the rights to speak at the moment to what are the facts to agree with this person. As a class we have read articles, bio from many people to understand that it’s more then what the person is writing. Reading between lines and analyzing a part of the story can tell you more then what the writer is saying. Working together to understand something and work better than being alone thinking about a situation you can’t understand.
Over the course of this quarter, I have written several projects that were like nothing I had ever written before. These foreign styles were a challenge for me. For a long time, I was used to writing only academic essays because that was all I was required to write in high school. I now see that there are many other styles that can deliver that same ideas as an essay if they are written with a clear purpose. Looking back on the course and on my projects I can see that the main issue with my writing was that I focused too much on the style of the projects. I was more concerned with how the projects were written not what was actually being written, because of that the arguments and ideas that I tried to convey lost their impact.
During this semester in English 107, I have progressed more as a writer. Before I went to University of Arizona, my writing was rigid. I wrote five-paragraph TOEFL style essay all the time in my high school life. After I attended in English 107, I was not confident about my writing skill. Throughout these three projects we have done, I become more and more confident about my writing skill than before. The Student Learning Outcomes also helped me to grow as a writer a lot. In these goals, I did well on several of them, but I still need to work on the other goals.
I do write in a different voice than the one that I use in my personal day-to-day interactions, but it also depends on the style of writing and the situation. There are various kinds of papers that I have had to write in my academic career, such as, persuasion, argumentative, literature reviews, research, reflections, compare and contrast or descriptive. My voice in these different types of papers changes depending on the style I am writing; I am still the same person, just portraying my personality and voice in a different way. I believe this is one of the easiest ways to appeal to a certain audience and to attract people to read your writing.
I learned about the different styles of essays and how I can effectively improve my writing techniques and integrate them into my professional writing experiences. I know what to look for and how to improve my writing text. Knowing how to apply these techniques in my writing will better able me to write informative and persuasive documents and describe the detailed facts into my professional career writings. By knowing what a thesis statement is, it will allow and guide me to keep my argument focused when writing for my work place.
For the past fifteen years I have learned how to spell, write sentences, use correct grammar and punctuation and the list continues. Over the last ten years is when writing has really come into play. I've been assigned numerous assignments that have required writing which has taught me my specific writing style. A few things that I like about my writing style consist of the following: I consider myself a creative writer, I have a fairly good vocabulary and excellent grammar. A few things that need improvement in my writing are the use of commas, run on sentences and the formatting of my papers. Although those specific writing characteristics may be basic they are the three that are most challenging for me.
As a writer in English 102 I learned different styles and techniques when writing an essay. Even though having to transition from high school to college was really difficult to comprehend. Especially, the learning styles that I was given such as hegemony, ideology and other cultural studies that I wasn’t familiarized with. However, I take my time off and fully understand what these concepts really mean. I started to read the big red book and take notes about cultural studies in class. Hegemony and ideology started to make sense. I can understand how our society shapes these cultural studies. Especially, wealth because this power can truly change people. That is why power is only meant for certain people, it also makes sense that if every individual really want power our society would corrupt. Imagine everyone in our society having lavage lifestyles. The economy will go downhill because who needs a job when you have lots of money. Also, they don’t even want to bother the things concerning our economy and/ or our environment. It is why applying cultural studies outside the classroom can help understand the importance of power. The example I mention also creates
I love to write and help others with their writing. Though I do not have experience with writing and editing for pay, I do have experience writing and editing for pleasure. I have experience in many other fields as well. This Fall of 2015, I will be schooling online at Southern New Hampshire University. I will be working on getting my BaI want to write for Teen Scene because the idea of it being written for teen by teens is very unique and interesting. I'd love to be apart of it and help grow your audience. I see a bright future with this platform. Also I feel like my writing style would be appreciated here. My writing style is fun and easy to comprehend. It's not uptight at all, but still sounds literate. I have a way with words, I've been
