My academic background is unique coming from the Pharmaceutical Sciences Program and the Campuswide Honors Program at UCI. Very few students have completed both rigorous programs. The CHP is the best honors program in the UC system and the Pharm Sci curriculum is designed to give students exceptional preparation for pharmacy school. This has pushed me to be one of the most well-rounded Pharmaceutical Sciences students at UCI. I believe this gives me unique preparation for new and challenging curriculum in pharmacy school. It has also nurtured my love for learning in all disciplines and exposed me to topics outside of my major. Never have I been satisfied with completing the minimum requirements. I have always been the type of student that pushes myself to improve and consider new possibilities I have spent more time than most of my peers developing my …show more content…
To me, being a leader is not just about innovation, but about being an optimist and being supportive of those around you. When I am leading a group I always have a plan, a back-up plan, and a smile on my face. My hope is to be the type of person that others will look forward to working with. I am very open about my strengths and weaknesses because I think it makes me a better team member. In my time as a dancer, I learned to take criticism well and apply it to my actions in a timely manner. I think this is important when working in a team. Dance also taught me that your weaknesses are what you need to spend the most time addressing even though it may be uncomfortable. That willingness to step out of my comfort zone is always valuable when I face new challenges. When I work independently, I have initiative and self-discipline. This means I am confident in my decisions and hold myself accountable when I make goals. Many people make goals and lose accountability somewhere along the way. I always follow-up and this makes me reliable even when I do not have close
The pre-pharmacy courses ignited my love for the sciences so much so that I declared my major in biology; however, the path has been difficult. Freshman year, I became depressed due to poor time-management skills, lack of support, and by over-extending myself. My grades suffered and I contemplated withdrawing from college, something I promised myself I would never do. Due to my dedication and perseverance, I pushed past my depression. With the guidance of my pharmacist and therapist, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression for which I was able to receive proper medication A combination of seeing a therapist and antidepressants have proved to be revolutionary for me. I improved my GPA and excelled in classes I previously thought were impossible. My pharmacist was a tremendous help when it came to the anti-depressants, and without her guidance, I wouldn’t have succeeded as much as I have. When I saw the close interaction between my therapist and pharmacist, I knew I was receiving the best help possible. I also realized that as a pharmacist, I can help properly care for patients and build a long trusting relationship with them, which makes me enthusiastic about the future. My early college setbacks, not only prepared me for future academic success through perseverance, but also reaffirmed my passion and desire to join the medical field as a

The Chief Petty Officer Academy (CPOA) is a five week program directed towards developing Chiefs to become stronger more effective leaders for future generations. The Chiefs Academy promotes unifying the Chiefs mess with various leadership tactics to enhance individual leadership. The leadership tools that have helped me develop as a leader include the Stress Map, the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) 360 feedback report as well as the class on coaching others. These tools have assisted towards reflecting on my current leadership style and will contribute towards my development as a leader.
In addition to working full time and attending school as a full time student, I shadowed a Dosimetrist and a Radiation Therapist at Gamma West Cancer Services for approximately 30 hours over a one month period. This job shadow included participation in the care of cancer patients and use of computed tomography. I have had multiple opportunities to serve the people in my community and in other communities near me. I have had the privilege to volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for two years. This has allowed me to mentor and aid young men in learning life skills, service, leadership, overcoming obstacles, and the power of hard work. I have been able to participate in multiple Eagle Scout projects including helping collect and package
Personally, I feel like possessing a passion for this role means possessing a passion for leadership, for being a voice, for making a difference, for representing others and for creating a better community in which everyone has a say and in which everyone is comfortable. Those are things I’m passionate about. I want to have the ability to make a change and to make others feel like their opinions and ideas really do matter. I enjoy representing people and I want people to know that they can come and talk to me, that I can get their suggestions across to others. Also, SRC executive is one of the leadership positions for my year level and being a leader is one of the few things that I have a natural talent for. It’s something I know that if given the opportunity I can excel
“The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves,” according to Ray Kroc. As a senior about to embark on the next journey of my life I hold myself to an extremely high standard. I strive for excellence and being an example for others. Although, when I fall short I take those moments to improve myself and to come closer to those standards the next day. I value being a leader in my community and school. I strive to be a respected leader by my peers, and emulate others possessing strong leadership qualities.
Before anyone can become a good leader, they have to be able lead themselves in whatever area they want to lead in and I feel like I am a perfect example of that. Not everything comes easy for me, so I have had to learn to have good time management, self-discipline, and perseverance. These traits have helped me in my school work, athletics and in leadership in the community.
Throughout my life I’ve been a part of 4h where you’re constantly learning, teaching and growing. You are gaining knowledge by being tested, writing speeches and gaining communication skills. Being around livestock teaches you a lot of about being responsible, caring and respectful. The life I have with livestock and 4h has helped me fine my passion in teaching. The people I’ve met from showing livestock has impacted my life. I plan to have a positive impact on my student’s lives. Being a teacher you need to be responsible, caring and respectful. I am a caring, dependable and energetic person. Throughout life you are constantly learning. There are many ways to learn and many ways to teach. I plan to be an effective teacher while making school
My interest in nursing sparked when I was twelve years old. My grandfather suffered from terminal cancer in which I had the privilege to care for him on a few occasions. This precious opportunity ultimately led me to pursue a career in nursing. I graduated from a Diploma based nursing program seven years ago and am currently enrolled in my final semester of Bachelors of Science Nursing degree. Working as a registered nurse has opened up many opportunities, but has not satisfied my thirst for furthering my education.
Throughout our lives there are many times when a person’s character is tested. There is no one who can escape these obstacles, but there is always a way to break through these obstacles of life. One situation where my character was tested was a few summers ago when I went to the carnival with my best friend. My friend and I were in a bad situation and one of us had to take control and resolve our problem on this stormy night.
Prompt #1 Throughout high school, I have looked to volunteer to give back to the supportive community in which I grew up. My junior year, I was eligible to become a member of the National Honor’s society. Through NHS in eleventh grade, I participated in the Polar Plunge to raise money for the special Olympics and various food and clothing drives. The summer of 2016, between my junior and senior year, I spent 30+ hours volunteering at Mayo Clinic Red Cedar. During my last year of high school, the girls’ basketball team worked at Community Table to prepare and serve food to residents in need.
Originally, I joined NHS out of curiosity. I had an acquaintance in the club who suggested I apply—however I was perplexed by the two-essay application. I wanted to know if NHS was selective because it was really great to be a member, or because it was great to say I was one. I also, quite frankly, wondered if I would be accepted. However, since then I’ve realized NHS expects commitment from its members for the sake of commitment— rather than for the sake of membership. NHS has high expectations of its members, so that they can have high expectations for themselves.
Brother, son supervisor, registered nurse. These are some of the adjectives that can be used to describe Annus Ahmed Siddiqui. This is my life and aspirations, both personally and professionally in 750 words or less.
Due to having three younger siblings I have always had responsibility for those more vulnerable than myself, which has given me firsthand experience of looking after others, the main basis of nursing. I am particularly interested in adult care within hospital, and the impact which immediate help can have on the patients. A recent inspiration which resounded with me was Dianne Brown, Nursing Director at Liverpool Women's who on hearing of the significantly long waiting times for patients in a separate department, organised for over 50 of them to be fed. It helped me feel definite that nursing is what I want to do, where I can provide physical and medical care, but also be in a position to make a difference in more simple ways, whether giving
