Stranger Paper So, for this assignment I stalked (sorry, observed) a girl in my math class. She has blue hair, wears wide glasses and is very unique. (I think she is the only one in the school with blue hair, so you may already know who this is. Oops.) I started observing her on September 3rd, and from day one I got the vibe that she was smart. All the questions Mr. Bonge asked she not only answered, but answered correctly. After a while he even stopped calling on her. Yeah, she was that good. The things he was reviewing weren’t easy either, it was factoring binomials and absolute value. I was lost within the first 5 minutes. But her, no way! She was on top of it. I was impressed. I also noticed that she tapped her finger on the side of her …show more content…
After taking all of my notes, I did some research into movement and memorization. Mo, a writer on scienceblogs.com (2010), summarizes Daniel Casasanto and Katinka Dijkstra’s study of the connection between movement and memory recall as, “...thinking involves creating mental simulations of bodily experiences, and that knowledge is represented by partial re-enactments in the brain which activate the same systems associated with real experiences.” So, by tapping her finger on the side of her face when Mr. Bonge is teaching, she can then recall this information easier by repeating the same action when she needs it. This can be as effective as taking notes for some people, which explains why she opts out of it. This may also show she is deviant from social norms. Apart from not using the usual method of studying, she also shows respect towards the teacher by not packing up her things until he is finished with the lesson. No matter if the rest of the class was doing it, she always waited until he was fully done teaching. Outside of school, this also shows with her choices in appearance and style. For starters, her hair is bright blue. You see muted purple colors often, but not usually a bright blue color. Her backpack is covered with buttons advocating her passion for feminism, which is amazing. The idea of feminism is popular at the moment, but she goes above and beyond by letting people know her passion for it. Lastly, she seems to be interested in what is being taught. Obviously she knows what she is doing in the area of pre-calculus, so there is really no reason for her to answer questions and engage herself in the lesson. Yet she does it anyway. Sure, she could be doing this to show everyone how intelligent she is, but I get the feeling she’s not that kind of girl. And after four days of observing her non-stop, I think that feeling is pretty spot on. (Could that sentence get any
Before I start this application, lemme classify some few things. My name is Bryan and I am 14. I have been on this server for a long time, and I feel that its time for me to move on. I have been wanting to apply since last year. I stopped posting applications since "February" or so (2015). I felt that I've changed a lot in my life and have proven myself enough that I have courage, kindness, respect and strength to do such abilities. I have learnt all my mistakes i did. (Such as: Lying of Age, etc) And i really hope that you all believed me that i changed.
Before starting my day, I usually put on a earphone and press “shuffle play” on my Throwback playlist on my Spotify account. The most recent five songs that I have listened to before writing this assignment was You Rock My World - With intro by Michael Jackson, Baby, I’m Back by Baby Bash, Just The Two Of Us by Grover Washington, Charlene by Anthony Hamilton, and Show Me The Way by Earth Wind & Fire. Interestingly I have never heard these songs until last year because I was only exposed to music that was on the radio station such as 94.9 or 106.1 where newest and trending songs were played most often. Since three of those songs were produced in early 2000’s and the other two produced between the 1970s and 1980s, I was never able to come across
On September 11, 2015, I was pulled over and accused of going 76mph on a road where the speed limit was 45mph. At first I was in shock because I was unaware that my driving was so recklessly, however, that same day one of my tires was found to be flat resulting in a trip to Tire Kingdom to purchase a new tire. When I arrived, a few of the mechanics on duty commented on the size of my tires. They informed me that the rims that were on my car at the time, and had been on my car since before I bought it, were nineteen inches long and the rims designed for my car are supposed to be fifteen inches long. They then went on to explain that due to the size of the tires versus the size of the car, my speedometer was actually displaying my speed to be
After completing this assignment, I feel as though the way I think and my outlook on certain things has changed in small, yet significant ways. For example, one of the most interesting myths, myth 28 (There’s Safety in Numbers), has changed the way I will react in situations of emergency. Having the awareness of the tendency to ignore someone in need when in a crowd will help me to overcome that tendency and actually help. I also found myths 15 (IQ Tests Are Biased against Certain Groups of People) and 20 (Researchers Have Demonstrated That Dreams Possess Symbolic Meaning) very interesting. I held some belief that dreams meant something more than just the random occurrences we see, so knowing they hold no insight into our minds and psyches makes me feel less distrait. As for myth 15, I simply found it amazing that so many people would rather blame the IQ tests for the inconsistencies in scores, rather than look deeper and take responsibility for the social disadvantages and prejudices against groups.
I met my best friend Briana Williams when I was eight years old, in the second grade at Flat Rock Elementary School. Ms. Wyatt our second grade teacher would always line us up next to each other because we were both about the same height. Before you knew it we began forming a friendship.
At time of pickup the system will allow the employee to bring up the specified reservation and to print out a "rental agreement” The system will require the employee to verify the information on the "Rental Agreement" and to then input into the system a notice that the agreement has been gone over. This will ensure that the employee has in fact gone over the agreement and everything is in place.
Identify two specific learning needs the student has as an English learner, based on the student description and the responses.
I would have to say that even though I would approach the assignment differently, I would, however, did the same in the fact that I would not have canceled my prior commitments because of the paper. I am a schedule fanatic, I have rarely ever in my life done something spontaneous, in other words I need list and get frustrated when my schedules are interfered with. So, I would have to keep my prior arrangements but find time in between to do the assignment. For example, on Friday when I got home I would have at least started working on the details in which I would write about. As we have learned in this course, I would have started my prewriting before I would have gone to the movies, and when I got back from the movies I would look over my
I was placed in a 2nd grade classroom at Bailly Elementary School for about 9 weeks. Bailly Elementary is a public school within the Duneland School Corporation of Indiana. It supports Kindergarten through 4th grade students, and currently serves about 450 students in 20 classrooms, one of which is a hearing-impaired class. The grade levels themselves are contained in separate parts of the building, each consisting of around 4 to 5 classrooms, similar to a pod-style layout. It has a counseling center for students to utilize at will and is equipped with aides and other specialists as needed. The facility has a full-sized library and gymnasium, along with a computer lab, and cafeteria.
While actively engaging in class discussions, she will articulate beautiful solutions in such detail that even the most struggling students can
I stared at her, seething. Why couldn’t students just listen to the lesson I was giving? Rachel probably thought, Oh, it’s my birthday, I can get away with anything I want. Well Rachel Adams, you’re wrong.
During my observations in her classroom, I observed Reading/Writing and Math lessons. For her Reading/Writing lesson, she discussed cause and effect. She had a couple of examples displayed on the smart board. She read the sentence and called on students to answer specific questions relating to her lesson. Some students were eager to answer and others not so much.
I arrived to the classroom at 12:30 p.m. for my observation , one girl caught my attention right away because she had a pink heavy sweater, even though was a hot day outside, and the air conditioner was not enough to cool off the classroom. One teacher was there for 17 children. I’m going to call the girl that I picked “Anna” a Hispanic, very skinny girl, average height and long black hair
As I enter Miss Stralow’s classroom she is teaching the students in math. Miss Strawlow introduces me to the class, they smile and wave/say “Hi Mrs. Jasso”. I’m early so I sit in the back of the room observing her teaching and the students interest and participation in the math sheet, it’s about subtraction. Miss Stralow does not have a smart board in her room but she does have a projection machine and a dry erase board which works just as well for this second-grade classroom. It’s quite amazing to watch Miss Stralow in action teaching simple subtraction solutions. As I glance around the classroom I do notice a couple students who are not like the other students, I can’t wait for this interview to begin
As an upper level high school mathematics teacher, my students are assigned to classes based on skill level rather than grade level, but the due to the nature of the material, most students are juniors and seniors. Tasha, the student constantly demanding my attention to ask if she is doing the work correctly, is almost certainly one of these upperclassmen as the rare underclassman who is in an advanced math class generally has more confidence in her abilities if only because placement in such a class implies that the school believes that she is highly capable.
