Modern students are taking a new path in obtaining their college education. With advances in technology access to courses has never been easier. Students now have the ability to access their class to work on assignments when convenient for them. Access to student resources are now only a click away. Learning has been revolutionized in the past few years. Online and hybrid courses are making it possible for students to go to school while also managing busy lifestyles.
The pace of the classroom or teaching style of the professor defines an atmosphere of the class. This can either be what makes the class, or what breaks it. When taking an online class, the pace and learning styles are left to the discretion of the student taking the course. I have found being able to control the pace in which I complete the course helps maintain my interest. I am able to spend more time on the stuff I am having trouble with and likewise, I am able to speed through the information I may already be

These courses are available to you constantly giving you accesses to course work and learning resources. Most people taking online and/or hybrid courses are taking them because they are full time workers, or have a family to be with, or simply not able to get to a college campus. These course add so much flexibility and convince. They help students who are unable to make the commitment to be at a regularly scheduled class period. When I first started at Gaston College I was working third shift. I was able to pair a few online classes with one early morning class. This made it possible for me to maintain my position at work while also remaining a full time student. This is a huge time saver because if online classes were not an option, I would have had to have spaced out several classes over several semesters. Ultimately turning a two-year program into a three-year program or possibly
When thinking about what makes an online course good I am able to call upon many personal experiences. I have stated before that a good online course incorporates media from multiple sources; which I believe is an essential factor. Being able to have access to images, audio files, and videos assist with the learning process and it can assist those who are more visual or audio learners draw connections to the required written text. I also believe that it is important for instructor and student connections in online course. In a good
Primarily, online courses allow students to arrange their schedules with more freedom than traditional courses. If students have a tablet or any other technological products, they can get the class from the website and learn it anywhere and anytime. For example, on-the-job training programs are a kind of online courses for students who have to work or need to improve their abilities. These people are absent to go to class in regular time because most of their working schedule in weekdays or irregular time, traditional types of courses are not suitable for them. Also, online courses have fewer
Online classes are best for people who feel they can produce better work in an isolated environment with no instructor or classmates directly in front of them. This also benefits more for people with full time jobs or other commitments that would prevent them from going to the classroom. Now the downside to this is that you have more temptation to be distracted from doing your work. Since you do practically all your assignments online, it's real easy to go right onto social media sites such as Facebook and see what everyone else is doing. If you plan on doing an online based program, you have to have a lot of self-control and will power to keep from going onto other sites not related to your
The system of higher education in America could be in trouble. Due to dramatic change in what society values, they could soon be under attack. In the two articles that I analyzed, these issues were discussed in further detail. The first article was titled, “The Future of College” and was written by Graeme Wood. Its purpose was to draw attention to a new approach at education. The second article, “The Troubled Future of Colleges and Universities”, written by Gary King and Maya Sen, focused on the obstacles that universities are facing and gave suggestions of ways to overcome them. Along with this, both articles, addressed what education may look like in the future. With the development of technology and information from new studies, many wonder what the outcome could be. Will lecture style classes remain? Could higher education convert to a completely online experience? What is the most effective teaching method? In the first article, Wood argues for a completely online education. Whereas, the other article believes that universities need to focus on the importance of research. However, students learn in different ways, therefore, today’s higher education institutes should offer a variety of instructional methods.
A lot of students prefer the comfort of learning on their own, rather than with their peers, which is one of the biggest benefits of online education. Due to the fact that all teacher are not the same, different teaching methods and speeds, onlines classes gives the student the advantage to go at their own pace and time to digest the material. Chapters and assignments are emailed to the student, for which are given a guideline to be completed. Most will agree that having to not fight traffic and look for parking spots are two less stressors you don't have to deal while taking online courses. Online education has a plethora of subjects that students can enroll in to further their education that some colleges or universities might not
Hello, I am Amber Rojcewicz, and I have elected to take an online English course so that it will fit in my schedule. In my past English classes, I have worked on citing properly, creating cohesive text, and using databases. Hopefully these skills will follow through into this new journey. I have allotted time to work on this class and that would be on Wednesdays and Thursdays because I have no classes on those days. I would say I am organized, and will do my best to keep up on work that is given to me. On the English- 11 Regents exam, I scored above a 75 I passed with an 85. I have been around computers and keyboards a lot in my life and can find my way around one well. I have access to Wi-Fi in a lot of places. I have it in my house and can also find access in public places. You spoke on
I was becoming stressed as the time was getting closer and closer to midnight. I knew that I had to get this assignment done before I procrastinate any longer. I may have a small problem with procrastination, however, I had tried not to for this assignment. This is my first online college class and I wasn't sure what to expect as I am only a Sophmore in high school. Even though it is a practice assignment about plagiarism, I still wanted to do my best. My hands were shaking I as was trying to finish writing the paper. I kept hitting the wrong letters, which was not helping me.
The student that I’ll be talking about is named Nia; she is a strong-willed learner who scored a S33,P32,TR22,C22. Nia is a online student that doesn’t have any family support. She is in no position to not ask for help! My first suggestion is to swallow her pride and take advantage of the support the school provides. Due to her being against accepting help, I would definitely stress that she should not skim through directions, in which she finds unclear. Nia needs to practice critical reading to become more of a successful college student! Another suggestion is she needs to take the teacher’s advice to proofread before posting. I always read what I wrote out loud because that’s the best way to catch things that don't sound right! Nia does not
Receiving an education via an online course is one that has begun with many challenges. I have come from having no knowledge of researching information to feel like I have journeyed a long way finding the confidence to research pertinent and quality resources. Through this particular unit I have been given the implements to develop a sound knowledge of online group collaborations and the programs to allow the communication to take place.
When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc.
Students are required to learn massive amounts of course material. It is mandatory to learn at the instructor’s pace. Online courses give flexibility while scheduling to learn this material. Students are overwhelmed with homework throughout the duration of each class. Some have up to four classes of homework due weekly. It can be difficult for many to absorb all the material while scheduling work and home life. Trying to arrange the balance of each can be tiring for the body and mind. When taking online classes, there is an advantage to have the capability to learn the subject when the brain and body are ready to handle it. This flexibility can give the benefit of the full focus on schoolwork. On-campus classes give the benefit of help on the spot when needed, but students that take a
Being an online student is never a easy task in today’s time because there are so many distractions in our homes. If it’s not the TV blaring in the background, then it is the cell phone ringing; it’s the many notifications appearing everywhere, and most importantly simply just everyday life problems. This has to be the biggest weakness I have learned about being an online student. However this is something I have learned how to overcome in the last two years, because without online classes I would be forced to move away from my job and family to earn a degree. The Cumberland’s however has made the process of earing my degree very easy, and after completing OREN 120 I am even more prepared for completing my Human Service degree here at UC. This class has shown me how to navigate through many of the recourses, which are available at UC. The next thing I have learned is how the layout of the class here at UC operates, and what is expected from each student. The next thing this class showed me was that I have chosen the correct degree program because of the career assessment test that was taken earlier in the semester. Finally after completing this class I now know the path I need to take to reach the career I plan to have once I have graduated with my bachelor’s degree, and my master’s degree from University of the Cumberland’s.
People can take online courses these days. It is a chance for most people to get online courses on their own place. Students have the capacity to look over many diverse programs that would help them with their needs. Nowadays, most of the programs are available online from each department like business, management, and information technology. Additionally, students can browse different sorts of degree. The online courses have lower costs since they do not buy textbooks; they can downloads all assignments and all different materials that are required for their classes. Another benefit of these online classes is saving time since students do not have to attend classes, so they might have more time to do their assignments and study. Online classes evacuate the anxiety by permitting learners to study when it is helpful for most learners would like to study at different time. Likewise, students at schools have to take their exams and quizzes on the day their instructor planned for , but
Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space.
Most students find courses online better than in-class learning. Now even some schools are saying yes to online learning! It is a big money saver because the school or college will not have to employ thousands of
