Personal Narrative: My Trip To New Orleans

After days of convincing my mom that I was a responsible adult, I finally had her permission to go out of town for the first time without. This year for Spring Break me and two of my friends decided to go on a trip to visit our friend Steven in Houston. It's a long drive from Laredo to Houston, about 6 hours, but we unknowingly made it an 8 hour long trip.

My family has a background of going to Texas at least once every year. The year that I went it was going to be mother's day, and both my mom & dad wanted to go and see their families down there in Texas. My mom and dad told me that we were going to go I was excited i’d get to see my family again, and spend time with them. It’s always fun when we go to visit everyone just having a good time. When they told my sister she wasn't that excited she knew that she’s have to leave her girlfriend, but she ended up warming up to the idea because she knew my mom and dad hadn't seen their families in a while and they never really get to see them that often.

I was born and raised in the wonderful and populous city of Houston. At first I possessed a young and carefree attitude,but slowly my thoughts started to revolve around the real world in different ways. Not always was I able to get the things I desired due to various circumstances, such as not enough money. This started to pave way to my deeper thoughts about the world, and how I wished to become someone who would take care of my parents. Slowly, I started to witness the problems and worries of my parents concerning monetary issues and so forth. My parents always smile brightly and did not show any signs of pain, because they did not want to worry a small child like me.After witnessing some of their occasional pain, this also hurt me and made

I knew I was not supposed to be doing what I was about to do. My momma and papa warned me a million times and I even got grounded once, maybe twice, for disobeying them, but this was the festival of colors we are talking about. When you are a big, little fish swimming in and out of the caves and rocks and through the underwater bubblers around the florescent seaweed, and flipping the sea slugs over and racing the turtles down by the Mississippi Street Bridge. So, we continued basking at relocating and being favored with such inspired blessings. It all seemed heavenly at first. But then, our worse fears would once more become reality. We soon learned that relocating alone, even with all of its accolades, would prove unable to defeat my disorder and our victory celebration, would once again be short lived. Even though I understood the role that vigilance played in the battle, I never anticipated that a brief failure to recall and respect such an incubus addiction, would prove to be so ruinous. It turned out, the exact tragedies it brought into my life in New Orleans, would ascend to my new home's front door steps, in Atlanta.

Before going back to To Houston we stop by New Orleans, Louisiana because If I didn't tell my family from California came to drive with us to Orlando,Florida for their vacation. I was able to visit Tulane at the very start of my summer this year and I don't think I've ever been so sure of something so quickly. Of course, by that point I had determined that “on paper” Tulane seemed like a good fit for me which is why I decided to visit. It was a bright sunny day on the beaches of Cancun, but unusually, the waves were massive that day in mid-December. My family, following the tradition of every time we go to a tropical country for vacation, decided to go paragliding in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. After waiting about an hour to get the tickets for the activity, it finally came time to get on the boat, but in order to get there, we would have to be transported to the boat by jet ski with two passengers and a driver on each one.

Imagine the sweet smell of pralines slowly escaping in a cloud of aromatic heaven from River Street Sweets, as you walk down River Street with fine mist looming off the water. From there you can see the beautiful, ancient homes that line the streets of Savannah. Magnificent willows silhouette the cobblestone roads with Spanish moss drooping off of their thickly aged limbs. I would have never known that on a calm day driving down a busy highway in Texas that I could have been the person on the side of the road in a car accident. Even though I never got in the accident it was still a life or death situation. The night before my whole family was getting packed and ready to travel from Buckner, Missouri all the way to Galveston, Texas. Galveston is an island off of the coast of Houston. My dad’s side of the family was meeting up with us to go on the Carnival Magic. My mom, sister, dad, and I crammed into a car, along with four suitcases.

During the Christmas break of 1st grade, I moved from New Orleans to the small town of Aransas Pass. I vaguely remember how I felt about the move, I only knew that it was a new adventure. My mother told me after attending their small school for several weeks that I was astounded to find that there were not as many diverse cultures here.
