SKT T1, the powerhouse of Worlds. This is the third time that the Korean juggernaut led by Faker has attended Worlds, and the first time a defending champion has made an appearance. Racking up an impressive group stage showing, SKT only felt defeat in a single game against the Flash Wolves, a team which has a solid reputation for playing spoiler to Korean teams in the past. SKT has pulled in up some pretty impressive scores so far in this tournament; with every subsequent win granting them a heavy gold lead. In fact, the lowest gold lead they had in a victory was 12k, and in their single loss they managed to keep the enemy gold lead to under 10k. However, RNG is going to need to find a way to deal with Faker’s large and deep champion pool, so perhaps the best option would be a safe, comfort pick. Ezreal will be a hotly contested pick for both teams, as both AD carries have taken him multiple times. Yet we have seen Uzi and Bang both carry on other champions, so it’s safe to assume that neither player will be banned out in this scenario. As for the supports, Wolf tends to favor the ranged supports such as Karma, while Mata has taken Nami multiple times. Although, what we have seen in the first game played between RNG and TSM is that Mata on Alistar is a terror of the bot lane, so it is imperative that SKT either takes it off the field, or finds a way to stop it from taking control altogether. Predictions for this match will ultimately reside in the ability of RNG to overcome the dominant force that is Faker in the mid lane.
