I. Attention Getter: Everyone might believe that sunglasses were recently invented in the last hundred years with the rise in pop culture. However, according to glasshistory.com, the sunglasses concept has been around as early as when Romans watched gladiator fights, possibly earlier.
II. Speaker Credibility: Through comprehensive research of the internet and general text, I have educated myself with reliable sources on the history and importance of sunglasses.
III. Relevance to the Audience: In a survey conducted by N3L optics, a sports performance sunglass retailer, “85 percent of Americans recognize the need for eye protection”. Many of you probably own a pair of sunglasses.

I. The history of sunglasses illustrates just how the current day sunglasses were first established.
A. The concept of sunglasses has been around for nearly 800 years.

The 1920’s fashion was a period of liberation, change, and even more importantly a movement towards the modern era. Fashion in the 1920’s varied throughout the decade but one could see the noticeable change from the previous fashion statements and eras. At the start of the decade, women began emancipating themselves from the constricting fashions by wearing more comfortable apparel. As women gained more rights and World War I forced them to become more independent, flappers came to be, mass-produced garments became available, and artistic movements increased in popularity, one can see how the fashions from the roaring twenties characterized the time and redefined womanhood. Sunglasses are usually worn as a protective eyewear. They protect your eyes from the strong ultraviolet rays of the sun; any other bright and harsh lights which can be dangerous for your eyes when exposed to for a long duration. Injuries can be caused to different parts of the eyes like the retina, iris and the cornea and constant injuries can leave a long lasting and permanent damage. If you thought sunglasses are only for the summer season, think again. Of course, to dodge the staunch sunlight, you have to wear sunglasses but they are also worn during driving. People with contact lens have to rely on sunglasses to protect them from debris and dust particles entering their eyes as it can be painful and leads to scratching of the cornea.
Throughout the 1920s through the 1950s Women’s clothing in America was affected by World War II, which lead to the exploration of different styles, the encounter of new trends and the exchange of ideas and new styles.

Fashion is very important in modern day society, and can be seen all around. Most of what people know about fashion today came from the fashion during the renaissance. From the vibrant fabrics to the spectacular jewels, renaissance fashion has been thoroughly threaded in the fashion of modern society. Modern day women often wear shorty, fun gowns, tightly fitting jeans, and lower cut tops.
