The Handmaid's Tale

Parents typically don’t want their children reading in depth books about sex; however, The Handmaid’s Tale offers great fictional examples that teach sexism and the mistreatment of women, yet these examples can lead some in the wrong way. Therefore depending on the view in society, The Handmaid’s tale should be banned or kept to certain areas of the world because of the unfair treatment of women.

In the novel, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, the author expresses a feminist dystopia in which men dominate the Republic of Gilead and women are objectified and used as machines whose only purpose is to produce babies. This former state of Massachusetts now known as Gilead is run by Commanders and their assigned wives, marthas, aunts and handmaid’s. The women in this society are controlled in every aspect of their life, from who they talk to and what they say; which is all monitored by the eyes (spies). The lack of authority over their lives over time push Gilead into becoming stronger as a male dominated society, where women slowly lose sight of their worth. The effect of words, powerless and innocent as they are, depending on the one who combines them can have good and evil outcomes. In the hands of Margaret Atwood, she used her knowledge and different interpretation of words in her dystopian novel The Handmaid’s Tale in a very indirect and devious way making her novel a treasure hunt in search of these key words for the understanding of the novel. The novel takes place in Gilead, a very dark future of the United States, governed by a theocratic government which oppresses women by making them “handmaids” in the name of religion to cure the infertility of the population. The double entendre diction which exists throughout the whole novel adds subliminal hints on the charactarisation of the characters, such as Offred, and to the story itself, such as the religious political system that governs Gilead, which is a double entendre in itself. These different plays on diction proves the oppression of our main character and proves how powerful language can be.

Jack angered and indignant decided to lead yet another hunt. This time he was in search of a pig for a feast but also to leave some of it to the beast. Jack and his hunters spotted a female pig as they were wandering into the forest. A black and pink pig was lying apart from all the trees with a row of piglets by her side that slept and squealed. The boys threw sharp spears at the chosen mother pig. The piglets scattered away and the mother impaled by the spear squealed and ran. The hunters ran after her tracing the pig-track and drops of blood painted along the path.

Once upon a time there were three pigs. The first pig build a house with a straw. But the wolf knock at the door and tried to come in. The wolf huffed and he puffed and blow the house and ate the first pig. The second pig built the house with a sticks. The wolf, knocked at the door. The wolf blow the house and he ate the second pig up.

So when she found the first boy she went away from her parents and she has never seen her parents. So she told her husband “ /Hey I was just wondering what happened to my parents can you help me find one of my parents” she told her husband. The he questioned “ how came are you wondering that” he told her. So one day he was wandering around the area

“Run and catch that mouse for me.” she would tell her cubs. They would all chase after the rodent, but when the cowardly lion got near it he would back away, scared, while his siblings caught and killed the mouse. The cowardly cub could never seem to face the prey or even stand up to his siblings. How was her to survive in a world where he was supposed to hunt and kill if he could not even stand up to a mouse. The mother feared for her sons life as a lion who could not kill would never be allowed to live with the pride, and her own because if she could not raise strong young she would also be seen as useless to the pride.

The boy and king charged toward the furious tiger. Slashing their swords, they attacked the evil beast. The king ran toward the tiger and failed to make a hit. The tiger then went straight toward the boy. Clawing the sword out of his hand, the tiger knocked the boy on his back. The tiger leaped onto the boy's chest.

Long past ago there was a lion his name is Zomba and he has a son called Ropen . They was living in the forest with the rest of the animals. Zomba was the king of the forest and he has the ability to manage the forest and he knows everything about the forest everything was perfect in the forest until he discovered that his son (Ropen) got low grad and he does not care about his classes and all of the animals in his class was laughing at him. Therefore his father was very angry.

Margaret Atwood’s novel, The Handmaid’s Tale, is about a future version of the United States. Atwood introduces Offred as a handmaid in the republic of Gilead. Handmaids are assigned to bear children for couples that have trouble conceiving. Offred serves the commander and his wife, Serena Joy. Offred’s freedom is complete restricted. She can only leave the house only on shopping trips, the door of her room cannot be completely shut, and the Eyes, Gilead’s secret police force watch her every public move. As Hercules stumbled upon the den of the Nemean lion, he could see it sleeping soundly. Hercules pulled out his arrow from the pouch behind his back, he aimed it towards the lion. He let go of the arrow and as it flew between his fingers it repelled off the sleeping lion. The lion awoke and roared so much that the trees flew back. As the lion was roaring every hair on his mane stood up on end. Hercules pulled out another one of his arrow and aimed it toward the lions right eye. The lion jumped up as he let go of the arrow, avoiding the it. He was surprised that his golden arrow couldn’t pierce the lion's hide. The angry lion flung towards hercules, jumping on him and took a bite and swallowed Hercules’s helmet. Hercules used his muscles and pushes the mighty beast off of him and shoves the lion into a tree.

Somewhere in the USA there was a forest, a forest with a clearing that all the animals worked together in to gather food and water. All was peaceful at this clearing, birds sang and foxes ran about, until Leo made a discovery that threatened the peace of the clearing.

Once upon a time, there was lion and his three cubs in the African jungle. They were playing for hours and hours. The lion cubs were tackling each other while the mother looked on. Eventually as time went on, she started to doze off. She tried to stay up and watch her kids, but her sleepiness overtook her eyes and she fell asleep. Five hours later, she woke up and her cubs were gone. She thought they went to go hunt, so she waited...and waited...and waited, but they never came back so she went on journey to find her cubs. She looked through the jungle to find them.
