Theme and Style in Taylor Swift Song “Blank Space”
2015 Award winning Song of the Year “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift is a song about how she has met and fell in love with so many guys that now Swift thinks she has finally met “the one”. Swift then spends tons of time with him and at the time they seemed to be happy, Swift discovers him texting another girl and their relationship goes “down in flames (line 17)”. Swift uses many literary analyses in her song, two in which are theme and style. Three possible themes for this song is to have “blank space (line 30)” between guys and herself, boys are nothing but trouble, all they want is "love if it's torture (line 63)", and she is ready for a mistake, but would rather not have one again. The composer quotes “nice to meet you, where have you been (line 1)?” describing that she been waiting for another guy to show, but hopefully this time the right one. This is one of the three themes that is possible for Swift's song.
Swift seems to believe that guys are just too much trouble to deal with. This is another theme Swift proves in her song. One evidence shown to prove this is the quote "boys only want love if it's torture (line 63)" this explains that guys are self centered. The fans can already interpret that Swift had history with other guys so this is to show what she has learned in those experiences of boyfriends. In the line right after
