Throughout history totalitarian leaders would violate people’s safety, their peace of mind and their freedom to rise to power. For example, Germany lost the war in 1919 which cause the need for reparations and a new leader, that is when Hitler became the leader of Germany and in that time Germany was going through a lot of hard times which caused the people to look forward to the future. Another example of totalitarian leaders in that time was Stalin who used people’s fear to gain trust from his people and cause paranoia in people of that time. Both of these totalitarian leaders violated democratic ideas by violating the safety and freedom of their people to manipulate them and their minds. And then they would oppress the minority group, for example, those who were Jewish were treated badly and killed.Totalitarian leaders used propaganda to make their people do what they wanted and …show more content…
For example in 1919 when Hitler became chancellor he made a promise to his people to change the way his people thought about things. In Document B greater Germany: YES! on April 10th it contains a picture of hands in the air praising to Hitler and it was after all of the people were forced to vote for Hitler and he put them all in hell’s path by threatening the lives of all those eligible to vote by using statements that would tell them that if they didn't vote for him their lives would be taken The author's purpose in making the poster was to show all of the fear that came out for voting and what made people vote for him in the first place He believed in the topic of enforcement and implementing the same things to the same people. This pattern of repetition, communicating things about Hitler, his journey, and his success in Germany (especially Aryan)
During the 1930’s, the majority of the world was going through a major economic recession, known as The Great Depression. Many people were not satisfied with their lives, as they expected much more to come out of the post-war times. The satisfaction tied to the economic boom in the 1920’s wore off, creating longing for being able to have luxuries in a time where basic needs could not even be met in most circumstances. People wanted radical change. This is the main reason as to why the rise of totalitarian leaders throughout Europe occurred. Totalitarian leaders promised this change, typically delving into stabilizing the economy, lowering unemployment rates, and improving the quality of life for citizens. Freedom became less important in the
In the twentieth century many Europeans liked the idea of having a totalitarian government. The people in Europe found this to be somewhat comforting. They knew that things would be okay if everything was controlled. Part of this was the idea “all for one and one for all”. For this to work out, there were things that had to be contributed to the governments. There were economic, social, and political conditions that helped to transition from the current government that they were using to the totalitarian government.
Totalitarianism alsogrew during the 20th century. A totalitarian government is one in which a single party rules over the entire state and has complete control. The people in a totalitarian society have no say in anything. This was the type of society that Hitler controlled. Everyone under Hitler was controlled by his rules and power. When Hitler rose into power, the Germans were still recovering from the aftermath of World War 1. Hitler promised the people radical changes and an end to all their sufferings and before long they came to love him. As a cause for all their sufferings, Hitler blamed the Jews and thus the Holocaust began. Hitler made many promises and told the people whatever he knew they wanted to hear. Before long, the people were brainwashed by him and started to submit to whatever Hitler told them to do. Germany quickly became a totalitarian state. The people were made to think
Totalitarianism is a system in which the government regulates and control people's lives. The leadership controls education, science, information and even the private live of its citizens. Rules are created to be followed in order to have total control. "He drove forty miles an hour and they jailed him for two days. Isn't that funny, and sad, too?" (Ray Bradbury, 6). Nobody is allowed to have a different behavior or thoughts that could threaten the political

The belief that the changing of all documented records, books, soundtracks, and photographs is morally right, is not morally right. To the people of new oceania, the party that rules them is believable no matter what they say, even the changing of all documentation to create the way the party wanted it is okay. The theme of the dangers of totalitarian government is clearly represented here, as they change the records into how they want it to be and forcing the people to accept that the new record is true. Every single aspect of a totalitarian government is wrong. They want total control over their people, over what they do, over what they think, and even going as far as to not allow them to have any social interaction. The party is merely doing
A totalitarian state is a political organization in which take over the society and control privacy of the public wherever they possibly can. Hitler and the Nazi party were able to create a totalitarian state. The Nazi party took control of education by having the teachers join a Nazi teacher’s league and told the children the Nazis message when teaching their subjects. Schools were plastered with images of Adolf Hitler and the children’s leisure time was taken by the Hitler Youth movement. The young people of Germany were the main target of the Nazis. Boys were taught all about war and completed activities that were military based. Whereas girls were used to mainly produce children so there is more of a chance of boys being produced, which
Born out of war, totalitarianism has been around for a long time. Its destroyed countries mentally, physically, structurally, and left it in shambles. Totalitarian governments are meant for you to lose your humanity and become an emotionless entity that used to be alive. It corrupts and it kills. When exposed or under rule of a totalitarian subject, what happens is they first dominate and demonstrate their power. They will begin remove your voice, you’re thinking, your will. They take it from you and give you a list of things you can and cannot do, with the can list being the shortest. You will submit yourself as if you are a servant and serve the government as they please. You are not human anymore. This will continue, people
My group decided to recreate Charlie Chaplin’s last scene in The Great Dictator. In the final scene, the barber is disguised as “Hitler” and is asked to give a speech in front of thousands. Unprepared and nervous the barber makes his way to the podium and gives a heartfelt speech about how we should all unite instead of fighting each other. After the speech is given the barber is seen exhausted, while the crowd goes wild. The scene itself uses so many different filming techniques. The scene featured used height to to keep the speaker and the audience almost eye to eye. It’s implication was to make it so it seem as if the speaker and the audience were having a conversation. It also featured a close shot types to keep the audience focused on
Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state holds total control over the society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life. To be considered as a totalitarian state, the country must have several characteristics. However the totalitarian states have different characteristics from each other. All the totalitarian states have two things in common with each other. They must have an ideology that applies to all aspects of life and outlines mean to attain a final goal, which is to create a utopian society. They must also have a single mass party (Encyclopedia 2012). The dictator controls the governmental systems. They will get rid of other political parties in that country. They do not like alternate views so they
When the term “Totalitarianism” is mentioned, many people are for it and others are highly against it. This popular political concept is starting to become inescapable and is certain to happen. Totalitarianism is best described as controlling and administered; because of this, the totalitarian governments’ objective is to control and dictate the lives of other peoples. As explained in the article “Nazi Fascism and the Modern Totalitarian State” it defines Totalitarianism as “Totalitarianism is a form of government in which all societal resources are monopolized by the state in an effort to penetrate and control all aspects of public and private life, through the state’s use of propaganda, terror, and technology (Grobman 2016).” From the perspective of a Totalitarian, they do not condone it’s people to disagree with what they believe is correct.
The use of propaganda helps the dictators to keep people on their side and in their own control. They make themselves look as good, prosperous, confident leaders that could help them achieve what they were looking for. A totalitarian government controls the attitudes, values, and beliefs of its population, removing the distinction between state and society. Society is perceived as a substance to be sculpted into perfection by the state according to the regime's ideological
Totalitarianism is “an autocracy based upon modern technology and mass legitimation. The Soviet Union and its East European satellites, Nazi Germany and fascist Italy, Mao’s China and Castro’s Cuba are given as examples of totalitarian regimes. According to F &B, totalitarian systems have 6 traits: 1-An ideology that is the declared enemy of religion, or which seeks to subsume religion within itself, turning churches and clergy into collaborators of the regime; 2-A single mass party, typically led by one man, “the dictator,” consisting a relatively small percentage of total population (up to 10 percent) which acts as a political vanguard, infusing all parts of society and state with official doctrine; 3- A system of physical and psychological terror extending over the entire nation, including essential parts of the state such as the military, secret police, bureaucracy and the cadres; 5-
