PC1222 Fundamentals of Physics II Tutorial 8 1. Refraction of Light I. When a man stands near the edge of an empty drainage ditch of depth 2.80 m, he can barely see the boundary between the opposite wall and bottom of the ditch as shown. The distance from his eyes to the ground is 1.85 m. (a) What is the horizontal distance d from the man to the edge of the drainage ditch? (b) After the drainage ditch is filled with water as shown, what is the maximum distance x the man can stand from the edge and still see the same boundary? [Ans: 1.65 cm] 2. Refraction of Light II. A light ray enters a rectangular block of plastic at an angle θ1 = 45.0◦ and emerges at an angle θ2 = 76.0◦ as shown. (a) Determine the index of refraction of the …show more content…

A matchstick is placed 25.0 cm in front of the lens as shown. (a) If you look through the lens toward the mirror, where will you see the image of the matchstick? (b) Is the image real or virtual? Explain. (c)
The documentary Visions of Light was made for the purpose of showing the art of cinematography. Cinematography was defined throughout the film as the making of a motion picture. “I found out that I was unconsciously responding to light.” said by Ernest Dickerson an American film director and cinematographer. Light is thought of to be something so little but means so much in a film. It is used to change the emotion and to tell people where to look.

4. ___C__ The shade of achromatic color stays the same regardless of how much sunlight is reflected.
For problems 12 to 14, do the following: (a) Make a scatter diagram of the
While implementing Primary Health Care models, identical to those in metropolitan areas, in a rural setting is not practical, I feel there is an obvious need to improve primary health care in remote areas. This is due to the significant health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, in rural and remote areas
The Crizal lens gives eye glass wearers protection from blue light. This safeguard placed in eyewear and is important for eye safety from retinal disease. The need for crizal lens is related to the person’s chance of getting eye disease.
2. Search the web and find three augmented reality developments other than Google Glass. Describe them and explain what technologies these developments are based on. (5 marks)
Assuming perfection (no busy-signals, no customer-abandons), a Customer-Svc Rep can handle (8 hrs) ÷ (130.65 sec) = 220.4 calls/day, or 206.6 calls/day with a 30-min break. A Data-Entry Operator can handle (8 hrs) ÷ (37.5 sec) = 768 calls/day, or 720 calls/day with a 30-min break.
The Picosure Focus Lens Array is a laser treatment that utilizes the power of the world’s most advanced laser, the Pico Laser, to revive skin, improve acne scars, and smooth out wrinkles.
The University of Incarnate Word School of Optometry is important to me because I will be able to immerse myself in optometry education. I read up on your program being offered, which emphasized on individual attention along with having personal growth in classrooms and the community. This really grabbed my attention because I personally learn better with a one to one relationship. Not only does this university have an outreach program, but it will help me understand the community and expose me to early clinical training that will help improve my skills in general.
3. The most common type of transducer used for deep organ imaging such as the liver is a 6Mhz convex array. The most type of transducer for imaging a thyroid is a 15 Mhz linear array. Explain, with reference to both transducer shape (linear and convex) and frequency why this is so.
Rifle Optics- The SWAT team is need of improved rifle optics. Our current rifle optics are not ruggedized and have a back lit reticle which poses a significant safety concern. The back lite optic refers to being able to see the red glow of the optic from a suspect’s position, thus compromising the safety of the SWAT team. Another issue the current optic poses is that it sits too low on the rail for SWAT operators to effectively acquire a proper cheek weld and eye relief needed to accurately align the reticle on a target. We propose the purchase of a Vortex Sparc AR optic which can be purchased for approximately $160 per unit. This unit is a needed upgrade in that it is much more rugged, utilizes a single AAA battery, has an auto-shutdown feature,
My goals from a career in optometry begin with my optometry education. My plan for attacking optometry has three phases: Phase One- General optometric education at Nova Southeastern. I want an outstanding education, supplemented by practical experience, such as that offered by The Eye Care Institute. Phase Two (a.k.a. “the chicken”)- Exposure; after a general education, I seek exposure within the field through such activities as a mission trip, service opportunities, and initial employment in a diverse setting, such as public or rural health. Within these settings, one can experience vast new cultures and the subsequent pathologies that accompany people in diverse settings, living under diverse conditions. Phase Three (“the egg”)- Specialization:
