Don’t Judge Anyone by their Cover, Everyone has their Niche

Gusts of wind made bits of paper dance between parked cars. There was a flash nearby lightning, and soon large drops of rain splashed onto his jeans. He stood to go upstairs, thought of the lecture that probably awaited him if he did anything except shut himself in his room with his math book, and started walking down the street instead.” This quote is important to the theme because it implies Greg’s mood which connects to the theme by setting up Greg to be in a stressful mood. This stressful mood makes him talk back with no elderly respect to Lemon Brown. The next scene is where he meets Lemon Brown. When Greg enters an abandoned tenement where he meets Lemon Brown. When Greg first meets this figure, Greg judges him before he tells him his story. He says “ I’m not looking for your treasure,’ Greg answered, smiling. ‘If you have one.’ “ This implies that Greg is judging Lemon by his wealth, since he is wearing rags as stated in page 8, paragraph 11. Lemon responds to Greg by explaining “ ‘What do you mean, if I have one,’ Lemon Brown said. ‘Every man got a treasure. You don’t know that, you must be a fool!’ “ This demonstrates the theme by helping Greg change his thoughts about Lemon, and also think about what his treasure might be. Most importantly, Greg now knows now to not judge a book by their cover. Meanwhile, some men come to try to steal Lemon’s treasure, which they think is something monetary value, not sentimental. On page 10, the men
The love of money is the root of all evil, a statement that has proved itself true through the centuries. Loving money traps us, as human beings. It is not a bad thing to enjoy what money can do; however, the love of money is a wasted effort that can put all in grave peril. It is at our advantage that we have the ability to choose whether we ‘want’ to fall into that trap. Unfortunately, that choice is difficult since society associates one’s character with wealth and financial management. The mishaps, deaths, and hardships that occur from the beginning of the tale are the result of deliberate deception for personal gain. In Treasure Island, greed sends the characters on a voyage. Robert Louis Stevenson makes a social commentary on
Goodman Brown’s journey into the woods introduces us into his own religious hypocrisy. His character is described as young and possibly naïve to the true nature of the world, and Goodman Brown considers himself descended from”… a race of honest men and good Christians” (343). However, for unknown reasons, perhaps just out of curiosity, he decides to venture into the woods on a quest of “evil purpose.” Faith, Goodman Brown’s wife, is an important source of symbolism throughout his journey. She is not only his wife, but she is also symbolic of his spiritual faith. Before setting off into the woods Faith begs him not to go and foreshadows that nothing good will come of his trip. Hawthorne uses this scene to emphasize that questioning and straying from his “Faith” for even a night shows that his spiritual faith is much less established than he displays to his wife or the public. It also symbolizes that Goodman Brown had doubted and compromised his faith before he even began his voyage into the woods.
“One day I got tired, sat down to rest a spell...hard times caught up to me”. Said the old battered and bruised Lemon Brown as he was explained his life to a teenager named Greg. This story taking place around the 1990s in Harlem New York is a story of a young black child named Greg who went to an abandoned basement and met Lemon Brown who explained his ideas that everyman has a treasure as they got interrupted by robbers who later left.
Another big point in Prose’s essay is the assignments associated with high school literature. She argues that teachers make students write around the books and not about the books they read. “No wonder students are rarely asked to consider what was actually written by these hopeless racists and sociopaths. Instead, they’re told to write around the book, or, better yet, write their own books,” (430). The assignments that teachers give these days are nto about the book or the story itself. They usually ask the student to rewrite the ending, or ask what the student would do if they were in the same situation as the character. Prose argues that high school students are seen as having the same experience as some of the characters they read about, such as Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby. “And is it any wonder that
Hank Brown is a man of great fame and fortune. He lives in wealth and goes to great measures to protect that. One day he wakes up and finds that his house has been broken into and most of his wealth has been taken from him. Hank tells himself that very moment that he will be resilient and persistent in the search for his money and riches. Just like Hank, Lemon Brown is resilient in protecting his treasure from people who might want to steal it. Lemon Brown succeeds in his protection and wards of the unwanted thieves. The author of Treasure Of Lemon Brown ,Walter Dean Myers, depicts the theme that everyone has to protect their treasure from being stolen.
Do you know what treasure is? Well this is about a man Lemon Brown and treasure. Lemon Brown is a homeless man that lives in a bad area of New York. His son has died and has no one to look up too. Then Lemon Brown meets a young man named Greg. Greg’s dad wanted a good education for his son. Then they both hear the thugs outside of the broken down apartment. This is important because it sort of tells the reader that Greg is a lazy-teenager type character. This is also important because Greg’s characterization plays a big role in the franchise. In conclusion, the characterization in this story always; has some humor behind it.
The narrator uses the description of the house and swamp to suggest the themes and establish the tone for the story however the story continues around 1727 but came about in 1824 ,: the seductions and dangers of the physical world, moral slipperiness and obscurity. The devil guards the treasure not to protect it, but so as to use it in tempting others to lives of sin. What does Greg learn from Lemon Brown that the value of something is highly personal; only its owner can ever appreciate its real worth and pass it on to others? I agree that “TREASURE IS PERSONAL” because Lemon Brown says “Every man has a treasure.”
With the purpose of educating the public on the dangers of external conformity, Wolff always includes pesky internal questions that make the reader stop to connect and ponder what goes on in the society that they live in through the main characters struggle with his works. For example, after winning the prized competition, the character feels elated because finally his work has reached the standards of one of the greats in Hemingway only to be exposed as a plagiarist. The use of irony encases the situation with humor, the character who was once afraid to be exposed of not belonging in the elite prep school finally gets recognized for his work that he so desperately yearned for, only to be exposed for plagiarism. We must ask ourselves what really is the true path to self-fulfillment and whether it is worth the dangers of conformity. His reduction to nothing and embarrassment begins the search again, the endless cycle of wanting to fit in somewhere but having the ever-present feeling that one doesn’t fit in lurking inside the conscience. It leads us to ask ourselves, is it worth satisfying the urge to conform if, over time, a slew of internal questions will simply dig our graves of loneliness and self-isolation? Through the use of an anonymous boy, Wolff allows the reader to relate with the character and further exemplify

The part of this song that I chose fit the novel really well in my opinion. I really saw a connection between this song and Tom Roberson. ”Oh can't you see, Oh you misjudge me,I look like a farmer, But I'm a lover,
