Why Do Kids Have Homework?

Students feel more stressed and turned off to learning, which is, a lifelong pursuit when it comes to homework. Too much homework turns kids off to learning and makes them less rather than more invested in school and learning. Are children having too much homework? There has been a big disagreement about if students should have homework or students should not have homework. Some people say they should not have homework and some say they should have homework. Children should not have homework, because it wastes all of the time out of school.

When lots of homework is given to an student it can cause stress because not all students understand all the homework given. This also happens because some students don't pay attention in class to understand how to even do homework. Something else that causes this to happen is that some students wait for last minute to do homework because they don't understand it. Teachers forget that we have other homework too. Students get more stressed because of how much time you have to spend on homework. Kids today have too much stressful homework. Due to the increasing amount of difficult homework, the age level of kids getting stressed is becoming lower. The homework kids have to do today can exceed to 3 or 4 hours which can affect their sleep cycle. The more homework children have, the less time they’re outside making them lazier. Kids should have less difficult homework to reduce levels of stress and other health problems.

In today’s society kids complain way too much about having lots of homework. Does that mean kids are trying to send teachers a message about having too much homework, or are they just lazy. We also do a lot of work in school as it is that is why we should not have any more homework.

After an exhausting seven to eight hour day, it does not make much sense to give homework to a kid who is already debilitated from tedious school work. Homework can give added stress to a kid who might not have a stable home life. Kids should not get homework because most kids have other activities outside of school. As a result, it is probable that school work will interfere with sports or extracurricular activities. As teachers give out so much homework, there is limited time to finish work for another class or study for another class. Whenever we actually do the unnecessary work and turn it in, it doesn't always necessarily get graded and it just causes more stress on top of stress. Students are already not getting enough sleep with all six classes that they have. Yet homework is great for students is very helpful for students in their classes, but at the same time they have so much work that they have done in such little time. Teachers like to give homework because they think that the kids are learning that way so they give too much in one class and kids think it’s overwhelming most of the time. Too much homework or extra homework for younger kids can be stressful for them and not turn in the assignment on time.
