Why Is Fracking Important In Our World?

Decent Essays

Fracking is a big part in today’s world and some people don’t like the idea of it, because it can be harmful to the earth. With fracking it has supplied the world with enough energy to continue for about 100 years. Natural gas has supplied the world since “the French explorers discovered it in 1626” (Brief history), 0but didn’t start fracking till the 19th century. With fracking being all around the country it offers great, good paying jobs. Natural gas from fracking is more affordable than other energy sources in abundant amounts. Chemicals used in fracking is said to contaminate earth’s water source if comes into contact and cannot be filtered clean. Natural gas has supplied energy to humanity since the 19th century, offers great since jobs …show more content…

Since 19th century fracking, coal, and other fossil fuels have supplied humanity with energy. With fracking In 2000, shale beds provided “just 1% of America’s natural gas, but now they provide 25%” (fracking good idea?)of America’s natural gas. Fracking has a big part in our world with supplying the world with energy. In just Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, and Texas the amount of natural gas in the ground is enough energy to power the country for 110 years.
Many people believe that gas and oil are found in huge subterranean caverns. Non-Renewable fossil fuels “supply Australia by more than 95% of their energy needed” (non-renewable energy). With an abundance amount of fossil fuels in the ground that means gas companies will need people to get it out therefore, a great deal of jobs will be …show more content…

As this fluid holds the “underground fissures open, oil and gas flow up the well to the surface where they can be recovered”(good idea?). When fracking, companies use up to 8 million liters of water, that is the daily consumption of 65,000 people and uses several thousand tons of sand. Congressional Democrat reported in April they identified about 750 chemicals that were used to frack and 29 of them are carcinogens. It is said by “fracking explained” that companies use up to 2,000 liters of chemicals. The chemicals compress the water, kill Bacteria, or dissolve minerals, but they also infect everyday water that can't be filtered clean. Also a variable amount of fracking fluid remains in the ground after a well has run dry and the “EPA has recently targeted this pollution and plans to set strict guidelines to reduce it” (good idea?). Even though fracking has some cons it also has tons of pros.
Natural gas has supplied energy to humanity since the 19th century, it offers great jobs, and is more affordable than other energy sources. Without fossil fuels/natural gas it would harder and more expensive to have everyday energy. With fracking being a big part in today’s world, people still wonder if the chemicals used are really dangerous and if there is another way to make them more earth
