Not being aware of the power these factors exert over you leads you to sabotage your attempts at developing a successful intimacy.
Summary 1: What is Self-Awareness?
Self-awareness is self-understanding and self-knowledge. It 's getting to know your true, genuine self. Self-awareness enables you to identify and understand factors of which you were not aware until now that control your reactions and behaviors and harm your relationships, such as: your fears, needs, messages you have internalized, beliefs and opinions.
Summary 2: Why is Self-Awareness a Prerequisite for an Intimate Relationship?
Self-awareness means: understanding and acknowledging the fears, deprivations and needs that rule you; the beliefs, opinions and values that affect you. It means realizing how all these find expression in your relationships and how you react and behave automatically with your partners.
Self-awareness enables you to be "who you really are", take responsibility for your behavior and get up the courage to initiate changes.

The Self-Awareness process requires that you have motivation and courage to observe and gather information about your thoughts, feelings, attitude, reactions and behaviors and see the connection between them.

Having self awareness is a significant attribute to utilize when leading/managing others, interacting in social events and making personal decisions. Having the insight to distinguish your emotions, then using that knowledge to manage your behavior and relationships is being emotionally intelligent (Bradberry & Greaves, 2009). After using the Emotional Appraisal Instrument, I learned that self-awareness is my strongest emotional intelligence (EI) skill and my weakest EI skill is social awareness (TalentSmart, Inc., 2016).
Self-Awareness: This is a skill which is related to you. It is the ability to understand your emotions in various situations (Bradberry, T., & Greaves, J. 2009 Pg. 24). It is important to understand yourself first then only you will able to understand others.
Being Self-Aware . Being self aware while teaching meant that I was aware of what I was saying, what I was thinking and how I was responding to the leaners’ and the instructional material. I was self-ware of the decisions I made in and out of class. This is also what I encouraged in my students. Encouraging students to be self-aware, they consciously paid more attention. The learner proactively viewed themselves from the position of their higher self, through their feelings thoughts, decisions, and actions. I expected no less of them than what I expected of myself.

Self consciousness is a trait that all human beings have. Some people have a good self consciousness and some people don’t. It’s something that everybody should be aware of and what to bring up in that state. We may think we know something in full detail, but do we really know the complete truth? As I’m growing older, I’m learning to step out in the real world and out of my comfort zone.
Self-awareness involves the ability to understand and evaluate your own emotions through reflection, self-comparisons and feedback from others (Steiner, 2014). Self-awareness aims at enhancing self-knowledge, behavioral, and emotional improvements, and accommodating weaknesses (Steiner, 2014). It allows individuals to understand how they think, behave, and respond to situations that they encounter. To achieve this, feedback from other people is required. People who are self-aware are self-driven, resourceful, eager to learn, self-motivated, and problem-solvers. They also portray independence of self-concept (Steiner, 2014). Self-awareness helps an individual to practice effective self-management.
Strengthening of the self-concept could be brought on by using processes such as the five core aspects of self-awareness:
People with high self-awareness are also able to speak accurately and openly-although not necessarily effusively or confessionally-about their emotions and the impact they have on their work. Those people can also be recognized by their performance reviews and the self-confidence.
Self-awareness is a terminology that has been widely discussed in not only psychological but also business and managerial perspectives. There are a number of authors trying to propose different definitions of it.
I recognize my awareness through my emotions through stress and worry, thoughts and decisions, and behavior that play into my everyday decisions and actions that keep me self-contained socially and mentally. As my husband tells me I’m the most un-social person he knows. By knowing what my strengths and weakness are and who I want to become will help me to be better motivated and manage my stress, thoughts, and behavior better.
Self-awareness is another part of how we perceive ourselves. The degree to which we are aware of ourselves vary. There are two different types of self-awareness, your private self-awareness and your public self-awareness. Your private self-awareness is the awareness of your internal state such as your thoughts, feelings, or desires. It can make us more aware of our attitudes and values. When our behavior doesn’t match our values, a discrepancy is made. Because discrepancies are viewed as negative, we will usually seek to change our behavior.
When introducing the concept of self-consciousness, it can be very difficult for individuals to understand that there are many forms of self-consciousness. Many already have a definition in mind as soon as they hear the word self-consciousness. It is made up of many concepts because it isn’t just a cognitive state, rather, many cognitive states. The mind processes many things as opposed to just knowing things. Humans are capable of doing and desiring many things while self-evaluating and questioning oneself. Everyone is able to consider their own actions and to think about themselves. When thinking, humans are able to consider ideas and depictions regarding the self and others. Regarding oneself allows for evaluating self-worth in refinement to common social roles (Bermudez).
Self Awareness is the ability to know your own emotions and recognize their influence while using guts feeling to guide decisions. It includes acknowledgement of our personality, our strong opinion and weaknesses, our likes and dislikes. Developing self-awareness can help us to identify when we are stressed out or under pressure.
