Former rocker Zach Williams, who has now become a contemporary Christian artist, is sharing his newfound hope in Jesus after walking away from rock ‘n’ roll and drugs through his hit single “Chain Breaker.”
In an interview with The Christian Post, Williams recounted how he was raised by his Christian parents who were active in the church ministry. However, he drifted away from his Christian values when he entered his teenage years and started making friends with people who did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Through the song, God spoke to him and prompted him to tell his wife that he was going to quit the band and begin going to church after the tour. For him, his encounter with God not only saved him, but his marriage and family as well.
“I remember coming home from that tour and it was the first time I had ever really fallen on my hands and knees and cried out to the Lord. ‘I'm sick of this; I'm sick of what I'm doing, I'm sick of my life, make this new,’” Williams told The Post. “There was a freedom in that that I've never experienced before. Immediately, I felt like everything was going to be alright. I didn't have any reservations that what I was doing was wrong.”
In May, BREATHEcast published a report on Williams’ decision to quit his rock band and release his debut gospel single “Chain Breaker” in June. The rocker had also released a statement conveying his regret in his past involvement with drugs and alcohol.
