Describe the effects of Streptococcus pyogenes on
connective tissue in acute necrotizing fasciitis.
Acute necrotizing fasciitis- Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rare infectious condition that causes “decaying infection of the fascia,” It is the soft tissue of connective tissue, that is present is all over the human body.
It is caused by usually two or more bacteria which affect the skin and then tissues under the skin that is subcutaneous tissue and then fascia later causing death of the tissue that is tissue narcosis. The condition is acute means it is very sudden onset, fast growing and malicious. This condition should be treated as early as possible with antibiotics otherwise it may lead to toxic shock like syndrome and death may occur.
Clinical Manifestation- Initially the signs are like common cold and flu.
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Bodypain
- Stomach upset
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- pain
Along with-it patient may find redness over the area of impaired skin integrity like any cut, side of the nails, rash site of injection etc. pain will be present and would be persistent and pricking. As the infection will progress the infected area will become purple and mottled
