Skeletal system is the basic framework that consists of bones and the cartilages. They are made of connective tissue. The bone has a hard matrix because of the presence of calcium salts in it. This system is classified into two groups as axial skeletal system and appendicular skeletal system. These two groups together constitute 206 bones in adults. The axial system has nearly 80 bones. This system includes - skull, vertebral column, sternum, and ribs. And, the appendicular system has 126 bones and includes - limbs (bones of hand, leg) and hip bone.
