Since each state has its own laws, there is variability when collecting data on firearm-related deaths, but collectively as a nation, there are nearly 10,000 Years of Potential Life Lost (Jehan et al., 2018). Many attempts have been made to pass stricter gun laws, but only a few have been put into effect even though much of the public supports these laws.
