I have been a registered nurse for five year                                                               3) What are some of your qualifications as a nurse? I am a general trained nurse presently with no speciality training. I have been working on my hospital’s general surgery ward for the past two years and have gained valuable general surgery nursing experience.                                                                 4) How do you manage stress at work? I try my best to stay focused on the task at hand, vent when I can or simply take time to regroup.                                                                                  5) Do you work better as part of a team or independently? I can say both. It all depends on what is the task at hand. However, teamwork wins every time.                                                                                6) What do you believe are the three necessary qualities in excellent nursing practice? Compassion and empathy, good time management and emotional stability                                             7) Do you practice these qualities? I definitely do.                                                                                  8) How would you advise a trainee nurse to develop emotional intelligence? This is somewhat difficult to explain because each individual is different. As a nurse, you would say that you would not allow yourself to become emotionally attached to a patient but the truth is we are all humans and the attachment can happen when you least expect it. With time and experience, this quality ‘may’ come and I say maybe because as I said before each individual is different. However, it is important for a nurse to develop the skill of learning how to leave work problems and emotions at work and leave domestic problems and emotions at home. In this way, your work environment will not be affected by your domestic problems and your home environment will not be affected by your work problems and emotions. A balance is needed.                                                       9) What are some of the challenges you face as a nurse? My present challenges are being overworked and underappreciated, lack of adequate staffing, limited to no resources                                                                             10) What is the most memorable moment in your career? The things that always stay with me are the praise, thanks and blessings given to me by patients. Findings Nurse Williams portrays major leadership qualities.
