Chapter 19, Problem 19.1P

Of the metals listed in Table 19-1, which are the most and least conductive?

Expert Solution & Answer
Check Mark
To determine

The most and least conductive metal from the table 19-1.

Answer to Problem 19.1P

The most conductive metal from table 19-1 A is silver and the least conductive metal is gallium.

Explanation of Solution

Conductivity is the properties of the material by which it can be determined how much an electric charge or heat is passing through the material. A conductor has very little amount of resistance. Materials can be classified into metals, non-metals, semiconductors and insulators. Among these metals are the most conductivity and insulators like (ceramics, woods and plastics) have very little conductivity.

From the given table 19-1 A the silver (Ag) has the highest value of conductivity and gallium (Ga) has the least value of conductivity. So, silver is most conductive and Gallium is the least conductive.

The most conductive metal from table 19-1 A is silver and the least conductive metal is gallium.
