infections.
Prevention Checking patients catheters at
a minimum of twice a day.
Properly cleaning your hands,
patient and work area before
placing catheters(n.d.).
Provide quarterly training for

What is it?
Nosocomial Urinary Infection is
when a Urinary Track
Infection(UTI) happens within a
healthcare facility and is related
to patient
management(Lacovelli, 2014).
This means that infections can
lead to patients having
prostatitis, cystitis and
pyelonephritis.
Causes 80% of all UTI’s are
caused by indwelling
urethal catheters.
Are neglected compared
to other infections, due to
its low mortality
rate(Nicolle, 2008).
Unsterile placement of
catheters and prolonged
use of a urinary catheter.
