When in the classroom learning is something that is like a seesaw. The ups and downs come with some classes more than others. The classes that I have found my most ups and downs are English, math, and science. When learning you can not just keep failing by not seeking help. These are the most challenging classes stem from one of these subjects, but there is always a way to make it through with these three steps; finding the situation, assessing it, and seeking help. The situation of what is challenging because it is either too complex or just not easy for you to understand. Then assessing the different learning styles, as well as you just may not be good at the subject. For example, in Algebra 2 class when we were learning about exponential …show more content…
Well trying to learn in my English class it was very hard for me because I did not understand the way in which the teacher is teaching because it did not appeal to my learning style, which I figured out while doing our second paper. The way I figured out that help was needed by only my second paper was when going over the paper and seeing what were the problems with the paper I still was not able to correct what I was doing. Overcoming this was particularly difficult because when coming to the teacher for help I still was unable to grasp the learning. This is when I turned to peer for help which helped me tremendously while in this class, as well as, visiting the AAC on campus where someone sit down with you and go through and help you improve your writing techniques and skills that what helped me achieve a passable …show more content…
I have learned while in college that the best ways for me to learn are by being able to see or write down something because it is something that I can review and still be able to grasp the concept when it is needed for a test. This strategy was helpful when I was in my English and math class. The second thing that also helps is viewing models because there is something that is tangible which makes it so much easier for me to be able to learn this is the strategy that I used while in my biology. The help of peers has also helped me with my learning process as well because there is not as much pressure when going up and talking to the teacher about what is wrong. In Conclusion, learning is something that you can grow from figuring out what strategies work for you whether is be from writing it down to seeing in the form picture and model. Learning is something where you do what is best for you and your difficulties and what can help you overcome your difficulties in any class that you have and once you find what works for you, you will be able to do your best and achieve what you
The key struggles had in English course is to put my thoughts and well developed ideas on paper. Every time we would have new assignments it would take me a while to have clear ideas and brainstorm them. How I worked to overcome come them is I would always ask Mrs. Fox for help and I would also do a lot of research about that particular topic. The most helpful thing that helped me to overcome that struggle was the rubrics and checklist that we would get in class. Because that would help me stay focused on what I really need to write about. The other struggle I had was with my grammar and sentence fragments. what I did to help me make my paper look well polished is I would go to the writing center and have tutor look at it and fix what needs
In this struggle, I explored different learning practices before homing in on the right tools for me. Repetition is my default approach to mastering new concepts. Repeating thousands of problem types, hundreds of practice tests and more than a few classes has brought me to a point where I better understand math and myself. Understanding my patterns of failure have helped me to build the persistence I need to be successful. In commiserating with my peers, they have discovered a variety of techniques. Reading, highlighting, recitation, practice tests and even tutoring work for other students. Distilled, the key interactions for learning are the ability to ask questions, to practice skills and to receive timely feedback.
I am also a visual learner so actually seeing the problem or anything that I have to learn to be completed in front of me will definitely help me in learning it. I also learn quicker when I'm doing the problem by myself. The strategies I can use in class, like stated earlier, is to just watch what I'm learning and actually practice and do it myself. That helps me a lot. In the book, I realized that I am more of an active learner mixed with a reflective learner. I understand information when they discuss apply, or explain to someone else, I prefer to manipulate objects, do physical experiments, and learn by trying. Instead of doing group work, I like to work alone. I feel that I do better working alone. I also like to summarize or restate my class notes in my own words because it helps me study. I am also a sequential learner. There isn't really anything that you can do to help because you're doing everything good, just continue to keep it this way. My new strategy to keeping up with things in class is to write everything in my agenda so I won't forget and also complete things ahead of time so I won't have to rush and do
How I learn and study is by taking notes. I find it extremely helpful and useful when professors provide study guides to help guide me through the reading material. This also helps by keeping me busy when studying, so that I am not easily bored. YouTube videos, games, charts, and maps, help create visual
One of the classes I think I've grown in is Algebra 1 because in the beginning of the year I wasn't understanding what the teacher was teaching. Well I was but I didn't know how to do the problem. Until I studied and studied until I finally got how to do the problem and I kept on studying to get the future problems. Another class I've grown in is Biology because I didn't pay attention in class when the teacher was talking and I didn't write down notes so when the quiz or test came I was struggling on the assessment. I have gotten a better habit of writing down notes and pay attention when the teacher is talking. Or when the teacher is explaining how to do a problem or a project we have to do so I wont be struggling a lot while doing my work.
Regarding this topic, learned helplessness is a problem for much of the percentage of students. Learned helplessness is like a disease plaguing someone not allowing certain attributes of their mind to work. Failing multiple times is the cause. Humans have come across
Learning is gaining knowledge or skills through experience, study, or by being taught. So what does it mean to learn? To learn, it means to expand your knowledge so you can use it through out your life. It means not making the same mistakes by using what you already know. The knowledge you learn will help you on whatever journey you are taking. Learning new information will make you think. And thinking can get you through tough situations and it will make you make wiser choices. To me, thinking means to question and explore diffrent aspects of a situation as you enter a inner world of thought. This is what to learn and to think means to
When I began this class, I thought that I knew quite a bit about writing. However, as it progressed it soon became clear that I knew far less that I thought. This class has shown me how to take my personal skills, and adapt them to fit each type of writing. It has also taught me how to take my personal situations and form them into different styles of writing. For example, the first cause and effect piece was a basic narrative formed into a different style. When I worked on the third and fourth pieces, the use of transition words helped a lot.
Since I was a young girl, learning was something necessary to do in order to mature into my own self. It's something us as humans do to evolve from our younger selves. From learning to talk, walk ,and read we learn many things throughout our lifetime to be the person we are today. Learning is the key to life. Learning makes us progress. Riding a bicycle was a learning experience that I might never forget it.
During my time in the field, I found it challenging in the beginning of the first few weeks of being in the classroom.
The manner in which student directions are given and the materials necessary to finish the assignment. There will need to be much support with clear tasks. Teaching students note takings strategies, journaling, how to access online chats, blogs, interactive lessons, websites, and making class routines to incorporate question and answer sessions or quizzes to ensure students followed through an assignment (Schmidt & Ralph, 2016). A big challenge for teachers may be knowledge of videotaping, posting, using new technologies, adjusting lessons to use various media, and making changes to current lessons to fit new technologies (Chen, 2016; Mazur, Brown, & Jacobsen, 2015).

To make learning easier for you, you should ask questions. Asking questions will help you have a better understanding of what you are learning. You won't be confused and end up with a bad grade because you didn't know what was happening. In the long run asking questions will make you smarter. Another thing that will help with learning is if you try your best. It is always better to try your best then to fail completely. If you forgot to study or you just completely forgot all the answers on a test, it is better to try your best and get a grade then to not try at all and fail. If you don't try your grade will drop even more than if you at least tried to remember and did what you could. The last thing that will help with learning is to do
Learning is tough because everyone learns in a different way but everyone is taught the same way. One teacher can not teach everyone in different ways so they get the most out of every class. For this reason teaching has to be done in a way where students can all understand the lesson and learn. There are many things that help me learn and can also hinder my ability to learn. These are called approach and avoidance elements. An approach element is defined as “a setting in which the customer feels comfortable and wants to spend time” and an avoidance element is defined as “a setting that the customer finds undesirable and uninviting” (Fisk, R., Grove, S., & John, J. 2014).
In general I approach learning as a process. Most people consider learning as one "ah ha” moment where you achieve understanding of a topic. Although these moments are important for the learning process, I approach learning as not only these small moments, but also all of the steps that go into having those moments. As an engineer, the steps to learning I have become accustomed to are identifying a topic of interest, understanding the fundamental, qualitative concepts associated with the topic, understanding the derivation of associated equations, reviewing an example problem solved with the concepts and equations, solving several problems addressing various aspects of the topic, and finally learning software
