In my opinion, a book is always a better choice for entertainment then a movie. Usually, when a book is adapted into a movie; the movie always seems to omit scenes and details mentioned in the book. This is the same with Walter Mosley’s Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned; a novel that tells a story surrounding a man named Socrates Fortlow. However, while the movie version of Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned follows the same concept as the book there are substantial differences in terms of events, details, and chronological order. The first major difference between the movie and the book is how quickly the movie reveals some of the flaws of the main character Socrates Fortlow. In fact the movie starts with Socrates appearing …show more content…
Realizing that they were seen, Darryl and his friends run and the boy inevitably follows. Once in the clear, Darryl and his friends discuss what they are going to do next. All the while, the boy is follows pleading for permission to go with them. Darryl and his friends respond to the boy’s request by telling him to go home. When he won’t leave them alone, Darryl and his friends become aggravated, and Darryl turns around and knifes the boy to death. After realizing the boy is dead, Darryl and his friends leave and never tell anyone what happened. Later on in the book, Darryl proceeds to tell Socrates that he is haunted in his dreams by the retarded boy all the time. However, in the movie this same plot has a very different twist. In the movie, the retarded boy, whose name is Felix, killed by a young boy by the name of Phillip who threatens to kill anyone who tells. While some of the events are not the same, a majority of the differences are tiny details. For example, in the book Socrates has a photo of Theresa, his ex-girlfriend, hanging in his kitchen by the window. In the picture, Theresa is wearing a red dress but in the movie she is in a white dress. The book also tells the reader that Socrates spent twenty-seven years in prison and was released eight years ago; in the movie; he only served eighteen years and had only been out for ten months. These are just some of the differences between the book and the movie.
For instance, in the book Joppy knew Albright; Albright knew Todd Carter; Todd Carter knew Richard McGee as well as Matthew Terrell whereas in the movie every character denied knowing each other except Albright and Joppy. Another noticeable difference is that in the book Frank Green, Daphne’s brother ends up murdered and in the movie he lives and they both end up moving. The third noticeable difference is a character name change from the book to the movie; Matthew Teran in the book is Matthew Terrell in the movie and he ends up being murdered in the book whereas at the end of the movie he’s running for mayor. A fourth noticeable difference is the pier scene. In the book Albright and Easy meet at the Santa Monica pier and in the movie it is the Malibu pier. And the last most noticeable difference between the book and the movie is that Mouse knows Daphne Monet or shall we call her by her real name Ruby Hanks; however, in the movie the audience never finds that out. In the movie the only true thing you get to know about Daphne is that she is both black and white. Therefore, due to the many differences between the book and the movie it is confusing to the audience since it is almost like dealing with two different stories because of the plot inconsistencies.
One of the differences is what's in the water when she jumped in. In the book when she jumped in Vizzini told her that there were sharks in the water. In the movie tho there are water shrieking eels in the water with her. Another dissimilarity was before each fighting scene on the cliffs. In the novel before the fight with Inigo, they went into his background, but in the movie, they did not. Also in the book that was not in the movie was the background of Fezzik before his fight with the man in black. One more difference is how it was told. In the book, it is the father of the young boy who basically just cut and pasted the good parts of the original book and made the story that we have in the book. In the movie the little boy is sick and the grandfather is reading the good parts of the original book to
As with every book and movie adaptation, there are differences. One of the most significant changes that affected the overall story was the loss of the first-person point of view aspects of the book. While reading the
Situation goes worse. When they are all getting off the same bus stop. The little boy's mother pushes Julian's mother over the edge, and her blood pressure rises too high. Suddenly Julian's mother collapses on the side walk half- dead. While he is crying for help she dies.
One major difference was Rifka. In the movie they combine Gritl and herself. In the movie Rifka was her cousin. Tzipporah and Ruven were made into one person named, Sarah. There were lots of characters that were left out of the movie, like hannah brother, Aaron. Another difference was the Age. In the movie Hannah was sixteen years old, but in the book she was twelve. The Execution was different. In the movie the people who disobeyed the rules were hanged, but in the book they were shot when they were trying to escape the concentration
For example in the book Winnie is only 10 but in the movie she was older(p.g.28). In addition the prologue in the move was a flash forward to jesse in the future, but the prologue in the book ( p, g, 3)was saying that 3 things were going to happen. Also only Jesse and Miles kidnap Winnie in the movie but Mae is also there. Furthermore, only Jesse is telling Winnie the story in the movie, but in the book mae and miles also help tell the story( p. g.37). Similarly the man in the yellow suit has, in the movie been following Jesse and Miles for some time, While in the book the man in the yellow suit has not found the tucks until he follows winnie when she is getting kidnapped (p. g.33). Another example of this is when in the book mae goes to jail( p. g. 103), in the movie tuck goes to jail with her. In addition the man in the yellow suit shoots jesse, and in the book no one is shot or even holding a gun expect the constable and mae. Also in the movie jesse and winnie kiss a lot, in the book nothing like that
The first difference between the movie and the book is that the book started with Ender being a 6 year old kid and then by the end he is a 20 year old adult. But in the movie he is a teenager all throught he movie. The movie missed some important details from the book. Another important difference is that Ender nener loses a simulation but in the movie he misses one. Another difference is that in the book, Ender is gaurded by his army because Bonzo attacked Ender, but in the movie Ender is never gaurded. Aother difference between the book and the movie is that in the movie there
While reading the book I had a quite different visual than the movie. Things I noticed different was the way I viewed the surroundings, character traits, and the way characters looked. I viewed the background as filled with trees and houses close together. In the movie the background was more spaced out and full of farmland.
Another major difference between the book and movie is the traits and actions taken by the characters. One example is Alice Kinnian. In the story, she is depicted as a quiet, non-aggressive person, but in the movie she is very much the opposite in character. For one, she never really made a move towards Charly, however, in the movie, she is the more aggressive between the two. Also, towards the end of the movie, Alice asked Charly to marry her and that never even happened in the novel at all. Charly is another character who is given different traits and actions in the movie then the book. In the book, he is a kind, warm-hearted man who couldn’t harm a fly. Believe it or not in the movie Charly tried to sexually assault Alice. In the book he never ever would have tried to do such a horrible thing to Alice. Also, he got very upset when he found out that he failed one of the tests given to him at the laboratory. He could have cared less if he failed in the book. Charly’s family is something else that was never mentioned in the movie, and it’s probably the most important difference of them all. It is the most important because of the fact that when Charly went to visit his family, it brought to him a great deal of happiness
This story makes a great book and movie, they are the same and very different. I enjoyed both of them about the same. The book never bored me and the movie kept me on the edge of the seat. This article will tell you about the differences and similatities in the characters, relationships, and scenes.
The differences between the movie and the book include time, setting, the visual aspect of the movie, differences in characters, and certain added or deleted
One thing that is different about the book and the movie is at the beginning of the
Among the films and the book, the similarities and differences that a seen between each other are based on the directors and the time they were creating the movie. Although there is quite a time gap between the dates the two films came out, both were made to appeal the audience. The 2013 movie, was made more energetic and entertaining than
Billy Bob become to dislike the boys for what they were always doing to him. He made some friends and told them the issue he was having with Sam, Michael, and NIck. So his new friends told him to sit by them and they would see what they could do to help. Billy Bob knew that if sitting by his new friends didn’t work then the teacher might be able to help stop it.So he did what his friends told him and it didn’t stop.
