Angela Merkel Is a great world leader, through overcoming her way of thinking. By growing up in Former East Germany (Angela Merkel’s, 2015) before the wall fell under communist regime. Where she was being controlled in every aspect of life with harsh punishments if not followed to fullest extent; which I might include are not even imaginable by todays standards. "Unlike the common board game Monopoly, the communist Germany played "Bürokratopoly." (Leveille, 2014). This game is different to Monopoly for Monopoly is to get filthy rich, Bürokratopoly has a different tack. “Money has absolutely no role in this game because money in the GDR didn't play any role” (Leveille, 2014). GDR is dissidents in communist East Germany. "What was really important …show more content…
Communism was built for the government to protect and take care of the people; but the people who practiced communism executed wrongly. The people that practiced communism could almost be put in the category of sadistic. They ended up taking away the freewill of people. They tried to control everything you said, they even tried to control people’s thoughts, but they couldn’t. The way they executed these ways were very grotesque, as if all the people were spies, turning neighbor against neighbor. If you were caught listening or talking about anything American you would be thrown in jail. The person who told on you would be very highly rewarded. Babies would be taken from their mothers and said to be dead, but they would be given to childless couples who were prominent members of the communist regime. Kids would be ripped away from their families if their mother was being perceived as committing a crime against the communist state, the mother would then go to prison, the children would go to a state run orphanage. The government which was doing this couldn’t understand the problem, for they supplied the people with food, a place to live, jobs, equal pay for all, and everybody was equal. At the time they didn’t understand that communism took away the people’s freewill and wasn’t helpful as it was meant to be, for it actually caused more …show more content…
This decision was very unprecedented and unexpected for the German culture is typically a light skinned race. With being dark skinned you were automatically assumed not to be German even if you were born and raise as German. With bringing in these Syrian refugees it was also a very dramatic change in the economy. For these people did not speak the language nor did they live the same way. Angela Merkel still decided to make this decision for the German population is aging too fast, so by bringing in these Syrian refugees it replenishes the population with new and younger people. Seeing why this decision makes sense is obvious at this time, but in 10-20 years the change will be understood (if these refugees are integrated into society). Since its not understood at this time it split the people into two categories: supporters and non-supporters. Supporters would take the Syrian refugees in and care for them. Non-supporters would not take them in, in fact they would burn down the building the refugees would be living in. It caused a lot of trouble, for seeing why they need the refugees would later be
An example would be when one of the men in the video that we have watched in class say “if i see a communist I would kill him” and then everybody clapped for him and he was then the star with a smirk on his face. And there were also many excuses in this case from saying that they were afraid of communist to that they would be digging under us and our freedom rights. But lets just get some facts straight right now one; communist is a person who supports or believes in the principles of communism, meaning that everyone is equal and two: less than 50,000 people were communist in America. So you are trying to tell me that they were to do this for the sack of us. I would guess not, not only did people gain standing from this but even the government did not tolerate this. Thus what truly came out of this was that people died and the ones that didn't had the best of their life talking whatever they wanted and treated as a hero for treating a communist which is for equality as a bad
Most people are reluctant to the whims and will of a leader, so they must slowly get into peoples’ lives and then control them with an iron first. For communist countries around the world, leaders are normally disappointed with capitalism and exploitation of the poor. They promised of a utopia where there are no class restrictions and equality, but after they gained power, the opposite happens. Anyone who opposes the leader/cult is killed. Stalin’s secret police killed numerous of Stalin’s enemies.
Germany started out as a divided nation fighting for dominance in Europe. Otto Von Bismarck was able to take this struggling complexity and unify it. During this process Bismarck turned the small country of Prussia into a powerhouse, growing the population from 11 to 18 million. Bismarck sprung from a landlord class and moved his way up the political ladder as realpolitik, realistic Politician. He was a man of simple ideals; he stressed duty, service, order, and the fear of God. These ideals along with manipulative tactics are what lead Bismarck on his journey of the unification of Germany, proving that without Bismarck’s diplomatic efforts between 1871 and 1890 Europe would not be the stabilized continent it is today.
Communist had a long history during the 20th century, and communism was very influential. Almost all of Asia and East Europe became Communist. From the start of the theory then many civil wars in Russia affected the whole world. Communist defined the idea of itself in many different ways, it helps many nations came together formed a party fought wars, but it also made many countries became really poor, and the economy in most of the countries got pushed back about 10 years. Communism is an economic and political system that sought to create an egalitarian society; it collapsed because of personal interest and government’s corruption.
Communism is a “Political theory advocating class war and leading to a society which all property is publicly owned and each person works and paid according to their abilities” After world war 2 communism took over Czechoslovakia and people flocked to join the party. Not everyone was convinced that the party was what the country needed for them to gain peace. The party had lots of propaganda and were in control of peoples live therefore convincing people to join the party even if reluctant. In Under a Cruel Star, Kovaly recounts her time after the war and joining the communist party and then being shunned when her husband was convicted of a crime. She talks about how people put blind faith in a party that didn't have much scientific evidence to back up their claims. Kovaly said the most people went to the communist party because when coming back from the concentration camp they wanted to be in control of property again and they stayed because they felt helpless without the party providing services. They went from one type of totalitarian government to another kind of government that controlled everything they did. People of the time didn't realize that communism didn't benefit people who weren't in an elite class.
Communism is a system of social organisation which formerly consumed almost a third of countries in the entire world, having originated in Russia. The first official communist state was founded during the Russian revolutions in 1917, due to the inaugural communist political party ‘Bolsheviks’ gaining primal power. Afterwards, the influence of communism spread to other countries with the likes of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and East Germany to name a few. These countries that were governed on communist principles were known as the ‘Eastern Bloc’. Even countries in Asia were persuaded into the theoretically human equality system such as China, Laos and Vietnam. Communism was gathering strength to strength every year in the mid 20th century, but eventually its impact was wiped off in the late 20th century when the Berlin War was knocked down in 1989, ending the barrier between the Eastern and Western blocs. Communism arguably was the most influential social experiment in history, but also the most flawed and its failure to change the world permanently will always remain significant in history.
If there was no threat from communism their wouldn’t have been no discussion of the mutually assured destruction, no arms race, and no need for bomb shelters. A lot of innocent people were being killed for being falsely accused of being a communist. Most of the people in the world were poor and communism appealed to them. The communists committed a lot of atrocities and brought up their own tyrannical governments
This created a society in which everyone felt deprived and longed for something different. Drakulić phrases it as “longing for the indefinite other” (A Doll that Grew Old, 59). People began forming groups where everyone could express their viewpoints. Communism fell because people began to eradicate censorship and deprivation. There were illegal exchanges and acquisition of luxury items in large quantities. Engaging in these activities made people feel like they had choices. They differentiated themselves with radical thoughts and ideas. In an effort to make everyone equal, communism rejected people’s identities. It eventually fell because citizens looked for ways to oppose the party that took away their
Communism played a major role shaping the 20th century, both for the East and the United States. Its impact can be seen in the US from 1919 to the 1990s and even today. The spread of Communist ideals in the East meant the beginning of the socialist state and mass industrialization. Its effect on the US was much different. The United States people, heavily diversified of all races, religions, and financial statuses, became extremely jingoistic as a result of competition with the USSR. This nationalism became unhealthy as citizens began determining what was “un-American.” The Communist Party USA was not successful in their primary objective of spreading communism to the US. What they did achieve however was hugely important. They showed that citizens of the United States could be scared out of their own freedom. That fear would lead them to give up “liberty and justice for all”. Still a highly misunderstood idea, it is important for citizens of the United States to understand what communism is and what impact the CPUSA and other communist organizations had on the country.
The current open door policy in Germany is what incentivizes refugees to immigrate there. In my opinion, Merkel has done a great job in dealing with this immigration situation, these refugees deserve to have better lives and they can do so by moving to a stable country such as Germany, where the wages are higher and the welfare system is great. Many are against Merkel’s view on this situation and allowing refugees to settle in Germany. For one thing, they’re a huge asset to the labor force and bring a diverse demographic. Although there are many concerns about terrorism, many of these refugees are innocent people trying to evade the turmoil in their countries. I agree with Merkel’s current stance because it helps the German economy, and also
Angela Merkel is the Chancellor of Germany. Last fall, she was elected to her third term as chancellor of Germany, making her one of the only two European Union leaders that survived the economic crisis (The Guardian, 2013). Angela Merkel was named by Forbes in 2014 as the most powerful women in the world (Forbes, 2014). Angela Merkel’s leadership style is pragmatic and methodical (The Guardian, 2013). Anne Applebaum (2013) states “She reigns. She doesn’t tell people what to do, she doesn’t give orders, and she isn’t bossy or pushy. She doesn’t throw Germany’s weight around or make demands. She simply sets parameters, and then lets everybody else make ‘choices’ themselves.” Merkel’s leadership style is prudent, democratic, and modest. Merkel prefers discussion, deliberation and consensus (Zeeb, 2013). The Germans call her “Mutti” (mummy), because she understands what her country wants and makes sure her country gets it (Zeeb, 2013 & The Guardian, 2013). Angela Merkel is a no nonsense leader that is well respected.
Communism in the USSR was doomed from the onset. Communism was condemned due to lack of support from other nations, condemned due to corruption within its leadership, condemned due to the moral weakness of humanity, making what is perfect on paper, ineffective in the real world. The end of this system was very violent. It left one of the two most powerful nations in the world fearful of what was to come.

Communism can either be called a concept or system of society. In a society that follows the communist beliefs groups own the major resources and means of production, rather than a certain individual. In theory, Communism is to provide equal work, and benefits to all in a specific society. Communism is derived from many ancient
Everyone would like to live in a perfect society, and in Germany, Karl Marx set out to do just that by creating the government system known as Communism. Though, this system has failed in many countries all over the world because of many significant flaws in the very foundation of the system. Some of the most feared probabilities in society that Communism was created to eliminate still prevailed and were at the heart of the system’s downfall. If the system was infallible, why were so many of its principles created out of the fear of rebellion? The living conditions of the people were unbearable and would lead to nothing but rebellion. The whole system was full of corruption and had no moral standards. Communism has failed in many countries
What is Communism? Communism is the doctrine of the conditions of the liberation of the proletariat. It also can be defined as a conceptualized system of government in which resources and production facilities are the property of the entire society rather than individuals. In a communist society, labor is shared equally as well, and the benefits of labor are distributed according to need (Communism.4all 1). No one person shall be ranked higher than another and there is to be one person in charge of the society in a communism government. There are still to this day many countries that fall under the rule of communism and the ways they were transformed under communist rule is quite interesting.
I characterize her leadership style as one that is based on ethics and morals while also being very direct. She is both task oriented as well as relationship oriented. Merkel focuses on the business task at hand while putting great emphasis relationships and networking…
