Heroes Without Capes What is a hero? When I ask myself this, a few things come to mind. Police officer, firefighter, superman. But what is a hero really? Someone who is brave? Strong? Smart? Perhaps, but I believe there is more. To me, heroic traits are selflessness, courage, perseverance, patience and many other things. Like beauty, heroism isn't skin deep. It isn't the cape that makes the hero, its the purpose. In the town of Sighet Transylvania, there was a man who went by the name of Moshe the Beadle, who, I believe, showed many attributes of heroism in his role in the story. In Night, he had the following conversation with the main character Ellie, “And as for Moshe, he wept. ‘Jews, listen to me. It's all I ask of you. I don't want …show more content…
He was a very heroic man during the time of the American Revolution. He inspired others with his speech which ended in those iconic words, pledging himself as so dedicated to the cause that he valued it over his own life. An important trait of heroism is dedication and selflessness, which he showcased tremendously. Heros have been present throughout all of history, and will continue to be present through all of time. An example of a hero in a futuristic time is the character Dink from Ender’s Game. Dink was a hero because even though he could have put himself in tremendous danger, he warned Ender to be safe when he knew he was being targeted, as showed in this excerpt from the text: “There was a message on his desk, ‘Don’t be alone. Ever. -Dink’ Ender grinned. So dink was still his friend. Don't worry they won't do anything to me. I have my army.” This shows that Dink is caring for others, even more than for himself. When Ender was being targeted and helping him could get himself into trouble, he did it anyway to help Ender stay safe. Heroic attributes can be found in the most unexpected places, and in the most normal people. From catastrophes to history to science fiction, heroes are present in all types of life. In order for someone to be a hero, they don't need a costume or a special name, they simply need attributes such as courage, selflessness, and
Hero’s come in many different perspectives. Some might view a hero as the fictional super heroes. Other’s consider hero’s to be modern day people. Some qualities of a hero are someone who is courageous, brave, and kind. A hero is a person who is admired for their courageous acts and achievements. They never give up even when times get hard. For some people, being a hero or having heroic attributes includes zooming in with super speed to save to city from a monster, but in reality there are no aliens or super powers. A hero is someone who puts others needs before theirs, like Elie Wiesel in Night. Sometimes people aren’t considered heroes, but have heroic attributes like Hans in Journey to the Center of the Earth. Heroes like George Washington are heroes who are also leaders. Although many heroes are considered heroes, some are just put in situations where they must be heroic in order to survive.
Being a hero is something everyone is capable of with bravery and intelligence. You don’t have to be a Greek God to be a hero, you can be a simple, average person living in a regular town. Heroism is not your social status and ruling the land, it is the qualities you possess and how you use them. Both the short story “The Hero’s Test” by Alisoun Witting and the short story “The Red-Headed League” by Arthur Conan Doyle shows heroism and how anyone can be a hero.
Have you ever been inspired by a hero because our technology today can make anybody a hero in an instant and can be applied today without much thought. We need to evaluate what it takes to be a hero and how they affect us. Heroes inspire us to improve our lives and make us a better person. Evidence suggests they determine the way we behave because we admire, adore, emulate them, place them in high regard and respect their accomplishments. Their qualities of courage, selflessness, humility, patience, caring, passion, integrity, honesty and confidence are all attributes that we all posses but it is whether we use them or not.
Oliver Stone once wrote, who he saw his heroes as“ Sciences who spend years of their lives trying to find cures...The inner-city kid who works at McDonald’s instead of selling drugs. The kid who stands alone instead of joining a gang, which would give him instant identity...People who take risks despite fears. People in wheelchairs who don't give up…”. (SB, pg.64) Heroes are people who choose the right no matter the situation. Making sacrifices for others benefit, being determined to rise over challenges, and not being perfect instead making mistakes are just some of the traits that make a hero.

In section 5, another discussion with Officer Graff begins the part, yet this time with some clearly higher in the military order. They examine and conclude that Ender should be his own wellspring of assistance, and he may have companions yet that is it. Later, Ender goes and discover his bunks with his lunchmates ( Launchies). While searching for the bunks, Dap presents himself as the person who will deal with them and their inquiries. During the evening when the time has come to rest, at the end of the day, Ender is in his bunk crying, once Dap comes around to check, Ender dries his eyes. He is upbeat he figured out how to shroud his feelings back home with Peter.
The society surrounding Ender was hostile and volatile. This is shown in the very beginning of the book when Ender is playing with
“A hero is a person who, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, displays courage or self-sacrifice for some greater good.” As one reflects on the basic definition of heroes and the idea of heroism, this basic thought may be used. However, one could consider that there is no one universal definition for what a certain person may believe to be heroic. Looking at different people or characters and their lives, there are various defining aspects that make him or her a hero. Specifically examining the heroes throughout The Hobbit, Of Mice and Men, and I Am Malala; one can see how the characters have different characteristics that may make him or her a hero. To really characterize a hero, some traits that are necessary would be bravery and selflessness. A hero is someone who willingly fights for a cause or the greater good that may not directly affect them yet works to a better situation.
The two unnamed people are discussing about Ender’s incident on the flight and it turns out that one of them is Graff. Graff insisted that Ender remains separate from the others so that he will think no one will be there for him so he has to be there for himself. The other guy asks Graff whom they will go to when Ender cannot handle the tasks anymore, and Graff says he will create a list. The discussion ends with Graff saying Ender can’t have parents, but can have friends.
Firstly, a real hero is always caring toward other people. For example, Walt DIsney was an extremely caring person, and that trait was passed onto the children that he inspired. He was described as “A man whose modest mission was simply ‘to bring happiness to the
We can all think of a hero as wearing tights and saving civilians in a city, but the examples of these people show what a real hero is. A real hero is hardworking, shows remarkable perseverance, and
An example of a hero is someone who always makes wise choices. A hero went to school and got his education. Ahero must be strong. He or She must workout. They must care about others. They must have nothing in their history. A hero must be talented, and im not talking about good at sports, you must be good at math and smart and somewhat active.
There are heroes all around us in life. People have many different views on what characteristics a hero must have. Personally, I feel that a hero is someone who has traits such as courage, selflessness, compassion, honesty, and patience. Anyone can choose whomever they want to be their hero. It could be a fictional character, a motivational speaker, or even a family member. My definition of a hero is a person who you look up to for having the moral and spiritual characteristics that I just mentioned. While there are many traits that I believe in, selflessness, compassion, and honesty, are the most important of all.
