Soccer or ¨football¨ as multiple people call it is an easy, but complex game that has been around for more than two thousand years. With eleven players on the field the objective of the sport is to score as many goals as a team by kicking the ball into the opponents goal and not letting the opponents score. There is an innumerable amount of techniques that every person can learn, and by doing so players can become better by practicing, and then using that skill on the field. In soccer both teams have four major positions which include strikers, midfielder, defenders, and most importantly goalie. Each position has a hefty job on their hands so the opponent does not score. The first position is striking. A striker is the one who is at the head of the line up and attacks the opponent's defense and tries to get the ball into their goal too. They have to be physically and mentally ready, because the game can not be faster than.Mainly on the field teams will have two or three players in this position. Occasionally teams will place four strikers for either tying the game or getting in the game winning shot. As a striker gaining skills and using them on opponents is also very important, because a defender will not let a striker by without putting pressure on or stealing the ball. …show more content…
These players support the strikers while they attack. As the strikers make their move towards the goal, midfielders will shortly follow behind. Midfielders are the ones who move the ball around and finish the attack by driving the defense back, so the strikers can get the open shot. Midfields will also be backing the defense against the opponent's offence at many points in the game. So as a result, a midfielder will have to have a bountiful amount of stamina to run back and forth. A midfielder will need the most training of all in both attacking and defending categories to even the skill level
If you play soccer, you have to practice in order to win, just like any other sport. When playing a game, you need to do moves that you have practiced, to get past the other teams defense and score a goal, and you also have to teach yourself mentally to think before you react. If you have the ball, you can’t just kick it randomly and hope to score, you have to think of your other teammates and work with them to get the ball up the field. Another part of soccer that is very critical is passing. You have to pass the ball and develop new techniques and ways to control how the game is played.
I have been playing since I was about 3 or 4 and I have loved to play it my whole life. On a soccer team, you need to learn to respect your coach and obey his orders when they tell you to go into a position and you should never be disrespectful to them. You should never back talk them or just be blatantly rude because that is not why you came to practice, you came to learn and how to get better at soccer. On the team, you meet a lot of new people that you grow to like and ultimately become friends with them. You also learn how to play soccer and sportsmanship because those two things are very important in the game of soccer because if you don’t know how to play then you may be pointless and you need to be nice and sportsmanlike in a competitive game like soccer.
Soccer is played by kicking the ball into the opposing teams net. Goalkeepers, such as Hope Solo, block the ball from entering the goal. Goalkeepers are the only ones who can use their hands. Julia Johnston, a defender,
Lacrosse is a sport where you work as a team to score goals and defeat opponents. There are three different positions on the field, one being midfield. Midfielders will run up and down the entire field playing offence and defiance. The second position is attack, these players will only stay on the offensive side of the field trying to score goals. Lastly, there are defenders who will only stay on the defensive side of the field. Their job is to help the goalie keep the ball on the
These players' positions are difficult to understand because not many ordinary people watch soccer. A left back basically provides defense and ball movement
If your right back moves up into the attack and does not realize where they are on the field, you must acquire another teammate to fill their spot to prevent the other team from getting a fast counterattack. For a defender, you should almost never cross midfield unless you are making a run or going up for a drop. Usually there is a forward or wing sitting at midfield that you need must guard in case they collect the ball. Also you must be aware of where the other team is on the field. If an opposite forward is trying to slink in behind you, you must make sure you are able to see them at all times and be able to quickly pressure them to be able to delay their run so you can give your team time to give
Defensively in soccer speed is sometimes slowed down and skilled footwork may be needed. How a player uses speed or velocity depends on the situation, but if just one isn’t done skillfully a player may not end up making the play as planned.
Speed is the most noticeable feature in the majority of AFL positions, as it is a key strategy to apply when aiming to beat a player and avoid losing possession of the ball. Evidently, speed is the fitness component which I performed best in, as I was placed in the highest rank after completing the forty 40 second meter sprint. This was the only occasion I was in the highest category for a fitness component. This is an important contributing factor to the position of midfield being well fitted to me as “The great modern day AFL midfielders all have great speed and acceleration.”- Langridge, 2010. This is because explosive pace can be utilised in many ways- both in defence and attack. Although it allows the player to dodge players and move the ball forward, speed also enables the midfielder to create space and provide options without being easily defended. A midfielder with effective speed is also able to chase down opponents and get to more contests. (O’Keefe, 2013) Speed is arguably my best attribute in terms of fitness components and its importance in midfield further proves why midfield is best suited to
Soccer can be a complicated and challenging sport to play and understand. Certain formations and different ways to play the game take experience and skill. There are many different formations to use and many different ideas to play with that formation. One particular formation that takes a lot of work includes the three-five-two formation. Running a three-five-two in soccer can be one of the toughest to defend, but only if a team can run it with patience and a lot of mental ability.
Next, my role on the pitch and my duties. On the pitch I have to be fearless I have a job to make sure I’m dominating my opponent. I played center defensive midfield and my main role was to disturb the offensive attack and distribute the ball to my offensive attackers. This follows with being coachable and doing whatever else Coach Brasel wants to
On the defense you have defensive tackles, they pressure the quarterback and stop the run! Then you have the defensive ends, they combine to tackle the quarterback or the ball carrier. Linebackers are your best tacklers. They defend the run and the pass and usually are fast! The safeties also defend the deep pass and the run, but line up deepest in the secondary. And then finally you have the cornerbacks; they line up wide on the field and meet with the offensive receivers.
“Number 10 has the ball. His footwork is phenomenal! He crosses three defenders then shoots! GOAL!” screams the commissioner. All around the world soccer is a popular sport, but many people do not know how to play. Here are three easy steps to master the sport of soccer.
Soccer (also known as football to the rest of the world) is a sport with crazy dedicated fans and where each mistake is put on a highlight reel that is never forgotten. With the amount of space on the pitch you would think there wouldn’t be too many fails for soccer players, but you’d be wrong. It doesn’t matter how big the space is, players always find a chance to run into each other or miss the goal.

A common question in many young minds is, “What is soccer?”. In the words of Wesson, “Soccer’s superiority derives from two sources, variety and continuity. At each point in the game the players are faced with a wide range of options - take the ball past the opponent on this side or that, to pass - short or long, low or high, to shoot - or to lay the ball off - and to whom” (Wesson 85). Soccer is a physical and mental sport. It is played with your feet, however, it is the mind that does most of the hard work. It is also a team sport. It consists of dribbling, passing, kicking, and much more. Sometimes there will be a bounce that must be trapped, and others there will be moves needed to blow by a defender. The game varies. For instance, the book also reads, “The ball is kicked in a variety of ways according to the circumstances. For a slow accurate pass the ball is pushed with the flat inside face of the foot. For a hard shot the toes are dipped and the ball is struck
