Hero The definition of a hero. A person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Another definition is the main male character in a story, play or film. Let’s think about this for a minute. What does the stereotypical hero look like? Chiseled features and some sort of tight costume or uniform. They display qualities such as bravery, immortality, and an undying devotion to the longevity of the human race. Oh, and don’t forget their superhuman powers; speed, strength, mind reading etc. Does a hero always have to demonstrate physical strength? Does he always have to save the human race in a valiant act of pure courage? What truly defines a hero in every sense of the word? I believe acts of perseverance and emotional strength suit this word more accurately. Or, those who save the human race by teaching and encouraging us to save ourselves. Heroes that were defined by their perseverance could be found during WWI. In July of 1918 three nurses were aiding the wounded when an artillery strike ensued on the front lines. Bullets flew and explosions erupted, but they kept their composure. Their small tent was ripped to shreds and overrun with the wounded, but they did not give up. One of …show more content…
I believe that a hero can be anyone. Hero means something different to everyone. People save lives in many ways and often go unrecognized because they do not wear a uniform or a tight colorful costume. The hero is not always the officer in war. Sometimes it’s the nurses or doctors that keep them alive. The hero is not always the government entity who swoops in and saves the women and children from abuse. Sometimes it is their own emotional strength that saves them and makes them heroes. The hero is not always Superman who saves the human race from extinction once again. Sometimes the hero is someone who believes in you and encourages you to be strong and persevere. Even you can be a
To be a hero doesn't mean to wear a cape and a mask and have supernatural powers. Real heroes don't have to be superheroes. Most heroes are just average people looking to do right in the world. A hero also has many qualities among other things that help and let them be heroes.
originally, I assumed that a hero was someone who fought villains in movies or had superpowers. Although I assumed that those who fought villains in movies or had superpower are a hero, now I believe that hero is someone who does extraordinary things such as put their lives in danger situations for others, someone who helps other and save someone. On the other hand, I believe that not everyone single person can be a hero because they don´t care about others and only know how to protect themselves.
Joseph Campbell once said “ A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself”. Being a hero doesn't necessarily mean you are the strongest or the fastest, it can simply mean you put others before yourself. Being heroic can have many different attributes ,but in my eyes a hero reflects characteristics of selflessness, courage and nobleness.
So what does it mean to be a hero? Well according to the urban dictionary, a hero is a man or woman praised by their achievements. I thought that was pretty vague so I came up with what I think what a hero is. Wait, before I tell you, have you ever been Superman for Halloween, oh wait I’m getting off the subject. I think a hero is someone who does something for someone or something without making a big deal about it. To be considered a hero you don’t have to be nice to catch someone falling. You don’t have to be strong to stop
“ A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles”(Reeve, Christopher). Every culture in country across the world has their own ideals for what a proper hero should be. Most will say a hero must have these core values compassion, bravery, strength, humility, and integrity. However a person does not always have to possess they traits to be considered a hero. An example of this is an epic hero, these heroes only exist in stories and generally do not possess all of the normal hero qualities. No person could ever be considered an epic hero, due to the complex requirements of one.
What is a Hero. A question that is asked very often. How do we really know the answer when there can be so many different and true definitions. There could be as many definitions of heros as there are people on this earth. To me, a hero is defined as someone who goes above and beyond, not even expecting a reward or recognition. For our English 9 class, we were asked to choose a hero, someone who inspires us. My hero is you my sister. You are my inspiration for just about everything I do. You meet all the hero requirements and more.
A hero to me means that they help people in need and save people. To me men and women who serve our country that die for our freedom, and sacrifice themselves for us to have freedom. Therefore I believe the soldiers from different branches are my hero, “ Not all superheroes wear capes.”
Being a hero is very important, whether you're a teacher or a firefighter, or maybe someone volunteering to donate water to Flint, Michigan being a hero to someone is really important and you could do it today if you really think about it. These are some of my personal beliefs about what makes a person a hero.
What is a hero to you in your eyes? A hero to me in my eyes is someone like a soldier or a veteran who has sacrificed everything for us to keep us safe. A hero is also someone who has deep motivation to keep themselves and their family safe throughout the battle. A hero is someone who is brave, strong, kind, giving and caring. Heroes are people who always want to help with things and make sure things are good for people and themselves.
What makes a hero? I am talking what makes a real life person a hero. Real life heroes are people that are brave, kind, and helpful.
A hero; in my opinion is selfless, what they do is not for them but to help others. When I think of heroes I’ve always thought of the brave men and women who serve and have served in harms way to protect this country. Maybe call me old fashioned but any man welling to put his life on the line for people he loves that’s what I consider a hero. A true hero never calls himself a hero, he doesn’t do things for his popularity or to be recognized, he or she does it to help. I guess you can call me a realist (real life scenarios) I’ve never really been in to the comic type heroes like superman and batman but more like Chris Kyle who was an American navy seal sniper who killed countless numbers of enemies and saved an immense about
A hero to me is anybody that does something good. To me a hero can be anybody. Parents, policemen, firefighters, teachers, and basically anybody can be heroes. Heroes are kind, courageous, polite, and brave.Heroes are not cowards, scared, mean, selfish, or they don’t feel pity. Heroes fight, they save people's lives, they are polite to anybody they see. They are
The definition of hero in merriam dictionary is “ a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” To me, a hero is someone who you look up to, someone who you can model yourself after.A hero is someone who helps people, saves people lives, and risks their lives for someone else’s life.Someone who sets an example for you and someone with a good set of morals and values, however for some other people this is not the definition for a hero and they have a complete opposite recognition of what they believe is a hero.I know that for a lot of people the Hitler and Saddam Hussein is a hero. They like them whether they know how they do terrible things and they killed a hundred of thousand innocent people, just because they are not
My definition of a hero is more what some people would call every day heroes. Doctors and nurses that spend day in and day out working for others and have dedicated their very lives to saving others are heroes to me. I find that people who conquer some feat that means a great deal to them should be considered as heroes as well. I also believe that a hero is someone who feels like they are up against the impossible and are still able to overcome make a hero.
A hero is someone who will put their life before others to help them. In the end, it seems like it’s customary for a hero to be someone like a superhero or a action hero, and it seems like people have made a generalization about what a hero is, but it does not need to be that way. It also doesn't need to be where a hero has any super powers or they have to be prominent in society, but
