Failure to pay attention. Lack of honesty. Poor grades. These are some outcomes of allowing cellphones in class. Eight ball or word cookies may end up causing you to fail or miss an assignment. Students should not be allowed to have and use their cellphones because of inequality, distractions, and dishonesty. To begin with, students should not be allowed to have cell phones in class due to inequality. Even though most students have cell phones, some do not. Students may be embarrassed if they don't have a cell phone like all the other students. Another reason why inequality is an issue because of the lack of power sources. Not all classrooms provide outlets or have enough outlets for everyone to use. Everyone charging their phones at the same time or looking for an outlet at the same time would be chaos. Secondly, distractions are a big ordeal in class. Cell phones are a problem due to sounds and ringtones because they can cause a distraction during a lesson. Maybe in the middle of a test and all of a sudden a ding or a ring goes off. You get all sidetracked and then lose track of what you were thinking of or what the answer was. You may be tempted to want to play 8 ball or word cookies. In the middle of the game the teacher …show more content…
Allowing students to have their cell phones out can allow them to be able to go on the internet and look up answers to a test or class work. They could text another student and ask them for answers. Also, allowing students to have cell phones in class, can make a chance for cyber bullying to happen. A student that may not be friends with another classmate could capture an embarrassing moment for the student and post it to allow all of his friends to see it. Students could video or take pictures of a teacher during class which could get the teacher in trouble. Allowing cellphones in class will more than likely just cause lying and
Most schools do not allow the use of cell phones in school or in class, so the school feels like changing their policy of cell phone use might be a bad idea. Students could take advantage or miss use the privilege of phones in class. There will always be students who act out in class, but the school must discipline those who do and reward those who do not.
Cell phones are distracting in school and disrupt learning. Students should always be giving their teacher their undivided attention. Cell phones in school create problems and they affect students’ grades. Although some may claim these reasons to be true, they are undeniably wrong. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school argue, “We know for a fact that the use of cell phones on school property around the country has led to a number of problems around safety.” This is wrong because cell phone use on school grounds is only beneficial to individuals on and off school property. Cell phones do not necessarily prevent problems, but they do help in times of emergencies. They promote safety in situations such as school shootings or hostage situations. The proponents of cell phones should not be allowed in school also argue “Student’s whose minds wander during a lecture or discussion may find the temptation of texting instead of listening hard to resist.” While this is true, it is up to the student to pay attention. However, texting instead of listening is the same as doodling and not listening, or playing on a school issued laptop even after being told to put it away. It is up to the student to restrain from texting in class. The more schools put an emphasis on no phones in school the more
Are you always on your phone? Either Snapchatting, on Instagram, scrolling through your twitter feed? It can be pretty temping to pick up your phone and do this stuff in class but you can use them in good ways in school. George Washington Middle School currently has cell phones banned in class. Although most teachers think that cell phones are a distraction, cell phones should be allowed in class because students feel anxious without their phones, there are many educational uses, and allowing phones is more convenient.
Hmm, phones in the classroom! What do you think? That is a debate between billions of people in the world today. Children all over the world have phones, but they can not have them out during school hours. Cell phones are important to so many kids and adults. These devices have been around for so long, and many people can not live without them. All around the school campus, students are miserable without their phones. In the world today, about three-fourths of the U.S. population have phones. A cell phone is an important thing to some people. Without cell phones, kids wouldn't have access to their social media accounts like Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. So take this into consideration, even if it is in one class, students should be allowed to get on their cell phones during school hours.
Students shouldn’t be allowed to have phones in school because students can easily use them to cheat on tests and quizzes. According to U.S. News “More than one third of teens with cell phones admit to having stored information on them to look at during a test or texting friends about answers.” (Miners, “More than”). Many people already use phones to cheat now even when phones aren’t allowed, so allowing phones to be present in the classroom will give students easier opportunities to cheat. Cheating is also unfair to the students who study and work hard to make grades. So phones not being allowed in classrooms is a better choice so students will study and learn instead of just cheating using their phone.
Should teachers let students have their phone in class? Many don't, currently most teachers do not let students use their devices during class time. In addition Cell Phones have become increasingly popular. According to the Huffington post “Millions more will join the ranks of smartphone users in the years ahead, as the remainder of the 92 percent of American adults who own cell phones upgrade their devices” this article illustrates that many people own cell phones and many more will soon. And most teachers view them as a distraction to the learning environment. However that is incorrect, Cell phones should be allowed in class because they are educational, can be used as tools, and in that could improve their learning. The teachers should let students use their cellphones during class because they can use it for a resource, an emergency, and for overall happiness.
Buzz, buzz, students phones goes off during the class. Imagine if you were a teacher and you were always distracted by phones, you would not like that. Most people think that having a phone out is a bad thing, while others believe that it is okay to have them out during school. I think that it isn't a good thing to have a phone out because of the destructions it causes. Without phones the world wouldn't be what it is today. If I had to guess id say that 85% of humans have a phone.
Have you ever wanted to use cellphones in school? Cell phones have many benefits and positive uses that help students during school a lot. Although cell phones can be distracting they should be allowed in school in case of an emergency, to teach responsibility, and to help in school like homework and research.
If your are allowed a cell phone in school and you get caught doing something you shouldn't, you could get in trouble. If cell phones weren't allowed in school there wouldn't be problems over the phone. If you have a phone in class it is a distraction from your learning. If your were a teacher would you want your students to have phones. Students would be on their phone while they should be doing homework. As students we go to school for seven hours. In those seven hours there is no reason they need to be on there phone. School is for learning, not looking at a phone.
One reason why students should be allowed to bring a cell phone to class is because cell phones can be used to contact emergency services in the case of an medical or law enforcement emergency. For example, if someone has a heart attack in a classroom where cell phones were allowed, then the classroom has multiple devices that can be used to contact medical personnel. On the other hand, if a medical emergency occurs in a classroom where cellphones are banned, then the number of ways to reach help is limited. Cell phones would also be useful in law enforcement situations. Students could use cell phones to communicate with police in real-time and videos can be used as evidence. Cell phones in classrooms are good because overall the more
Many students will play on their phones and not pay attention to the teacher and the lesson that the teacher is giving. Students are sent to school to learn and by playing with cell phones during classes students are not learning anything that will help them with a career or their futures. Students can also text friends in other classrooms and not have their minds in the classroom that they are in. Students may eventually stop coming to school because they can just stay home and use their cell phones and do other things.
There are many reasons why students should not be able allowed to have phones out during school hours. One of the main reasons is distracting. Distracting can effect students is many way's. Say if your taking a test and someone Snapchat notification goes off or any other notification. It can also distract the people that don't have a phone. Students with phones can text each other the answers on a test or assignment. It could also distract the kids that have a phone by looking at their phone the whole class period time seeing if the person they texted would text back. Student like to worry about their phones more that they do their grades.
First and foremost, not every person that attends school has a smartphone. In other words, some people's parents don't want their children to have a phone at this given moment, also some families can't afford it.For example, this year i am taking A.P. Bio, we use our phones in that class everyday for about 75% of the entire class period for many different reasons. I don't have a smartphone though, so i'm constantly behind on my bell ringers which causes me to have excess homework. This basically consists of me getting punished for something I can't control at all. This proves my point when i say it's all around a huge disadvantage. What are teachers trying to accomplish by doing this? There are no real benefits to cell phone use in the classroom other than teachers having to do less work, also it's a good time filler.
Cellphones in the classroom has become an ongoing issue in high school and public schools around the world. They distract students from the lesson being taught and the information put in front of them they effect the learning of other students in the classroom whether they sit right beside someone on their cell phone or across the classroom, cellphones also encourage bad behaviors, and they are linked to several health concerns.
A lack of good cell phone manners is constantly observed in classrooms. Students all the way from elementary school to college use their phones during class. According to Ron Kurtus, the use of cell phones during class is something that upsets teachers because it distracts students from what they are being taught (1). That is the reason why teachers forbid their students from being on their phones while they are teaching, but students do it anyways. Students have to understand that by using their phones they are not only affecting themselves. There are some cases when they can be affecting their classmates. Many students like to be listening to music while they are doing their work, and that seems insignificant but it is not. Some of the times a student is listening to music they have the volume all the way up; this causes other students to hear their music too, so now there are more students being distracted in class because of one person that does not know the right volume they should use. Also, students that use their cell phones in class are disrespecting their teacher, because they are supposed to be paying attention to them, not to their cell phones.
