Is the convenience of others worth the life of a single innocent? The answer of this question should spark such a reaction that it would make it impossible to remain neutral. And as such the world should ask the land that claims to be home of the brave; being the United States of America, what it’s stance is on gun control. Because the land of opportunity can no longer say yes to unrestricted gun sales and no the safety of its innocents; or should only the gun owners dictate the laws in the land of opportunity. America needs to enforce gun restrictions to save the lives of innocent people. To long has it allowed its own civilians to dictate the worth of the life of an innocent. Should the general consensus be to hold life to the highest value? Is it not unfathomable to allow convenience to trump safety? Sometimes the only unbiased facts that can be stated are numbers, and here is some. Twelve, six, twenty, and six; sure that those numbers are not significant individually but further explanation the significance will deepen the meaning of each of numbers of these Massacres that occurred from July to December of the same year. Twelve was the number of lives ended in July in Colorado of 2012, and no this was not a fight, heated argument or anything even remotely close to that which statistically speaking is the leading cause for gun violence. Under those circumstances a shooting could be understandable; but this was a movie premier in Colorado where innocents lost their lives
In today’s society, there is plenty to talk about. Whether it be about the President, the weather change, there is always something to talk about. One of the major issues that has been talked about for an extended period of time is gun control and the issues that follow it. There are two specific articles that were chosen today; one of which from the Chicago Sun Times website, and the other from the New York Times.
People who appreciate activities like shooting competitions and hunting, use firearms responsibly. This use contrasts with other uses, which often result in consequences that can be both intended and unintended. With past and present mass shootings, and acts of bloodshed perpetrated with the usage of weapons; has triggered a focus on gun control that once again has been brought into the spotlight. The purpose of the ongoing gun argument addresses the crimes that are committed with guns. This issue of gun control separated people into two groups: those who believe that carrying guns might prevent some crimes and fatalities, and those who don’t. There are individuals who believe absolutely the reverse: that more crime and deaths
The rise in cases of gun violence and related incidences of assault has drawn the public to the issue of guns and gun control. Such has been evident within the spheres of politics especially with the last election period seeing the incumbent president Donald Trump suggesting on stringent gun control laws. However, despite the acknowledgment of the need to have better gun laws, much ground and consensus has never reached. Such, to an extent, contributed to the current lack of political goodwill within the country to have the necessary legislations enacted to facilitate the same on the controls (Grandy 23). Of the guns under question are the assault rifles. Like the military weapons, assault rifles have a destructive potential to causing
The second amendment states, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. As stated in the Wikipedia cite focused on the second amendment, “The right to bear arms is the people 's right to have their own arms for their defense”. Breaking the exact amendment down in to pieces is as simple as that, but yet throughout our world so many citizens have different thoughts and opinions. In my opinion though, I feel we as American citizens have the right to self-protection and the right to bear arms in our own homes and this right should never change.
“We must respect the past, and mistrust the present, if we wish to provide for the safety of the future” was a quote by Joseph Joubert, a well-known essayist, put it simply. People ought to learn from and respect the past, don’t trust the present, all to make the future better. This is something to always live by because the past is not always right and the future should be provided for. Joubert had the right idea. Everyone could learn from his ideology even if they do not completely agree. A topic that is relevant right now and to this quote is gun control. Owning guns is our constitutional right. Many people take that right too far by purchasing military grade firearms. People have become divided on this very current issue. Some say there should be stronger restrictions on purchasing or owning a firearm, while other say there should not be stronger restrictions on purchasing or owning a firearm. Regardless of opinion, now is the right time for both sides to reach a compromise about this very important issue.
I am a gun advocate. I own guns. I shoot guns. My dad is a hunter. We have over 35 guns and 5,000 rounds of ammunition in a gun safe, in my house. None of these guns are assault weapons. None can fire hundreds of rounds in a matter of minutes. None were designed solely to kill people. However, millions of assault weapons have been manufactured and sold in the past ten years. An unknown number are now in the hands of fanatics who will use them to kill people for effect. The massacres in Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs Church, Pulse Nightclub, and Sandy Hook Elementary School were all committed with lawfully protected assault rifles. The constitutional protection of the right to bear arms has inadvertently fostered an environment of perpetual danger that has become an accepted social normality.
Arms, shall not be infringed.” The government has no right to change the amendment and placing a ban and enforcing stricter regulations is yet another invasion of our liberty. By placing restrictions on gun ownership, citizens will feel insecure and more defenseless. FBI crime statistics show that more people are murdered by clubs and hammers than rifles and shotguns. This statement would
There are a lot side affects as results of gun violence that both the victims, the pertuctutors and their families go though. It is challenge for both the victims and perpetuators to return back to their normal lives after experienced so many traumas from gun violence. For the most part victims that survived gun violence are subject to live with fear, they suffer from emotional instability, and some of them developed heath problems such as anxiety, stress. On the other hand, the person who committed the crime are left with collateral consequences such as, it is hard for them to reentry society when they comeback from jail, and with no opportunities to find a job most of them ended up back on the street. As society, we have tendency to judged
Somewhere around the world somebody just got shot. Somewhere else somebody just got stabbed to death. Some people would have been affected more by the death by gun because a decent amount around the world dump a lot of hatred towards guns and gun owners. It seems that guns have always received the most attention and concern from citizens, for years. They have been either hated or loved by the citizens of the United States since before the colonial days. They are not a bad mechanism for people to use; they are just, occasionally, misused or put into the wrong hands, that is how it is with every weapon. Many Americans, actually, honor this tool and have for centuries because guns are quite a big part of American history. It was a big enough part of history for the Founding Fathers of America to include it in one of the original ten Bill of Rights. Unfortunately, a part of the nation misuse the right given to citizens from the Second Amendment for things like murder. This has caused a good amount of people to believe gun use is the cause of the majority of deaths and the basis of crime, but these beliefs have been proven not true from various collections of studies and data. Guns are not as bad as they seem, and they should not be taken away or restricted harshly because they were trusted by the Founding Fathers of the United States and protected by the Second Amendment, are not one of the leading causes of all deaths and crimes in America, and taking them away will just stir
“Gun violence is rampant in America. There were 355 mass shootings in just 2016 and many of those shooting was done by one of the most dangerous weapons in America, the AR-15, a military grade, fully automatic weapon. These guns are really easy to get too, through gun-show loop holes which don’t require background checks and anywhere else varying from state to state. Clearly something needs to be done. We see places like England and Australia whose gun crime went down after their gun ban and in light of the aforementioned statistics, the best course of action is undeniably to follow in their example. No one needs an Ar-15 to protect themselves.” Statements like these are narratives pushed by the left and mainstream media in reaction to any
Social problems are difficult to create concretely define due to the vast interpretations of what a “problem” is. However, it does have a definite characteristic, which is that a negative effect on society is evident. Throughout the course various topics have been discussed while relating them to current and historical events. The overall topic social issue that I will discuss is gun control. As of late, several events involving shootings have been reported and broadcasted in the news. The specific events that will be examined will be the Sandy Hook shooting of Newtown, Connecticut, the Planned Parenthood massacre in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Paris, France massacre. Also, in closing, I will share an incident that occurred that helps
In this research, the perception of the Second Amendment is discussed bearing in consideration of some consequences of the misuse of firearms by individuals who are not military. This essay develops one of the disturbing targets, which it is the amount of weapons that civilians are allowed without any limitation, and how backgrounds check are handled. And because of no restriction, how an object that was created to defense became the originator of sadness and division in the humanity. Also, the influence of the National Rifle Association for the business is discussed and the revenue that comes from gun industry. The proposal that democrat candidate Hilary Clinton made on the issue, expressing her intention of limiting the regulations of selling guns.
The United States have a lot of problems. I think the biggest problems are crime and guns in the United States. The crimes have never stopped in our lives. In the 1990s, the number of cremes in the US fell every year. However, we often see the terrible crimes through the news reports. I felt that augment in an alarming way now. So, my opinion is the government must attach the crimes and solve them to support. Also in my image, the United States is very dangerous place, because people can buy a gun very easily. It is the source of the problems . And guns kill or hurt thousands of Americans-over 30,000 in one year. In my native country, that would be nonsense, and it is inconceivable that it should be allowed. So, I think that the government
A man walks into a convenience store and up to the counter, presumably to buy something. Instead, the man pulls a handgun on the cashier and demands that he hand over the money in the cash register. The man is too busy focusing on the cashier to realize that a citizen with a concealed carry permit has already drawn his weapon. The brave citizen approaches the man from behind and orders him to drop his handgun and leave the store. The crook drops the gun on the counter and slowly backs out of the store. Encounters like this happen everyday, and it is because of responsible citizens that these encounters do not end in disaster, or in the very least only the criminal being injured or killed.
In 1787 one of the most important documents in the history of the United States was created, the Constitution. Shortly after in 1791 the Second Amendment was added to the Constitution. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” (Constitution , 2015) Over the years, the Supreme Courts have interpreted this differently the 2008 Supreme Court ruled that this Amendment protects the right of each individual to possess firearms without being connected to any militia.
