What are the solutions for free campus tobacco? The Campaigns to stop the use of tobacco most firstly start from the administration.
The first solution is to start Tobacco-free campus is policies that contain strict rules to prevent any type of tobacco at the campus. It can be throw e-mail announcement, posters at the campus walls, or a meeting with faculties and students to give a statement about the new policy.
The policy should contain main rules that will prevent any tobacco use near the university

The use of tobacco will lead to penalties that will reach to kick out from the university
The policy is made to have a healthier campus for each one of us.

After completing the research that I did for this essay, I can see clearly that it is not just myself that I am hurting when I use tobacco on campus, but that I am hurting other students that are just trying to get an education, and also am hurting my schools reputation by now having people think that Coastal Carolina University is a smoking school with a non-tobacco free campus. I now realize how much harm can come from using tobacco, no matter what form it is in, on my college campus.
Tobacco ad smoke are not a strange issue in school but Tobacco-free in campus is new and creates a lot of controversial opinion among student and society. Sam Nadler, an engineering student at CSUS said that “banning Tobacco at college is ineffective. The United States is a place where value the freedom of individual, the different was respect, so that choosing uses tobacco is personal right and should not be forbidden”. Everyone have their own perception and responsibility for themselves and we should not impose our values on them. However, every freedom has its own limitation in order to maintain the security of society. If tobacco put other people who do not use it in danger like second hand smoking, it should be barn in college area. Tobacco-free campus also helps reduce the percentage of young smoker and help the study better. Therefore, banning tobacco in campus will bring benefits for society and should be done.
Restate central idea- Support the ban of tabacco use at work, schools, airports, hospitals, bus stops, bars, and etc. Encourage policies that provide fines for those that break the law and require businness to invest in creating smoking rooms /cubicles, designated for tobacco use.
A comparative tobacco use rate and demographic variable for behavior was conducted in Minnesota between two and four-year college students and it was revealed that the tobacco use in the former year was higher than the latter year mainly because of poor campus tobacco guidelines and lack of good health services.
To strengthen policy and bring more awareness of smoking on campus. A partnership was created with Leave the Pack Behind; a free tobacco control program that offers young adults quitting information, personal support and quitting resources, completely free and funded by the provincial government (LTPB, 2016). These individuals provided information regarding quitting options and endorsed weekly challenges such as, the “would you rather contest” (PTCC and PROPEL, 2016). Where a student could win 5000 if he or she can cut back or stay tobacco free for 6 weeks (PTCC and PROPEL, 2016). These contests not only increase the changes of quitting, but also provide information on the harmful effects of smoking.
Cigarette smoking is the major single cause of cancer death in the United States. Universities moving to become tobacco-free campuses have spread across the country. As of January 1, 2016, there are at least 1,475 smoke-free campuses in the United States. Of those, about 820 prohibit the use of e-cigarettes anywhere on campus. This is a major increase in numbers compared to 2011, where only 586 campuses were smoke-free. In Florida, 23 universities and colleges have prohibited smoking. In 2011, Florida International University (FIU) and Nova Southeastern University (NSU), located here in South Florida, banned all types of tobacco and smoking products. This means no e-cigarettes, hookahs, cigarettes, vape pens, and no chewing tobacco anywhere
The American Nonsmokers' Rights Foundation (ANRF) published a list of campuses that have comprehensive tobacco-free or smoke-free policies in place. As of April 1, 2016, there were 1,483 100% smoke-free campuses, of which 1,137 - more than two-thirds! -- were fully tobacco-free. In addition, a rapidly growing number of 823 now also prohibit the use of e-cigarettes, or vaping, anywhere on campus. Smoking on campus should be banned, because it affects people who have asthma and secondhand smokers, cigarettes smells terrible, and it’s a safety hazard.
With the extensive campus and complex implementation problems this proposal suggests a policy that would cover the entire campus, all owned or leased property, should become smoke free for the consumers, residents, the employees and the community at large. This policy will be particularly important for residents in our supportive
Each item on the questionnaire is worded wisely and adds to the overall construct being measured. If administered to a larger sample size of faulty/staff and students, Berry College could use this survey to learn the attitudes about the new tobacco-free policy, which they could then use to better promote the advantages of living tobacco-free. Additionally, by gaining insight on attitudes regarding the tobacco-free policy, Berry College would be able to see how the policy is affecting the use of tobacco on and off campus. Further research on the new tobacco-free policy could include a survey measuring the effectiveness of the policy. The survey would measure how effect the new policy is at keeping people from using tobacco on campus. In addition, the survey could measure whether the new policy has caused an overall decrease in tobacco
The days of smoking on college campuses is coming to an end! (Daneman) The Department of Health and Human Services made an announcement, backed by the White house, to act on getting colleges everywhere to enforce a tobacco free campus! (Daneman) Smoking is a choice made amongst an individual and falls within the first amendment in the constitution along with eight more! So how can we legally ban smoking from a whole college campus? In the end, the individual is going to do what he/she pleases if there is no enforcement. Smoking should be banned from college campus, except where there is a designated smoking area away from others on the campus!
Ohio University president, Roderick McDavis stated that “We will join more than 1,000 campuses nationwide who ban the use of tobacco on their campuses,”(Lee). The University campus will begin the Smoke and Tobacco-Free Initiative policy in August 2015. The policy will impose by using "a community model” (Hill, 2015). This means that each member at Ohio University will be responsible for endorsing the policy. Moreover, Ohio University hopes the campus becomes healthier without tobacco. This policy will affect many on Ohio University’s campus. However, the ban on smoking will be ineffective for many reasons.
Year after year, Unites States citizens are suffering a great deal due to cigarette smoke. Smoking leads the way in preventable deaths killing up to 440,000 people annually and it costs this country an estimated $157 billion dollars in annual economic medical expenses (CDC, 2014). Up to 500 million people are estimated to be killed from just this habit alone which will also cut 5 billion years of life because of tobacco smoke (Glanz, 2008). Cigarette smoke does not kill you in a hurry. It is a slow, but progressively harmful type of suffering one has to endure until their last days. By banning smoking around the campus, the college reduces the garbage in and around their campus. Now visitors to the college will not see dirty cigarette butts in the grass or next to the doorways, which makes the college appearance better to first time students and visitors. So, for WIT to say no smoking is OK!
Smoking, as one knows it, has become a stress-reliever worldwide. One will find a smoker pulling out a cigarette and lighting it up around every corner. Smoking has especially become a growing problem in college campuses. When a college student enters the college campus, they do not only enter a new campus, a new life is also entered. In this new experience, one will find themselves exploring new things. The power of the eye is remarkable in today’s society. When someone has a friend that is doing something, the one looking will eventually want to try as well. This can raise many red flags that can be avoided, simply by banning smoking on all college campuses. Smoking on college campuses should be banned because of nicotine’s negative effect on student’s personalities, academics, and overall health.
