Much has been said about love, but if you search the horizon, you will discover that most of the things written about love are either pithy or cynical. Society in general can be cruel and heartless toward real virtue of any kind. In the most popular venues, love is seldom dealt with with any degree of sobriety. Modern humor mocks marriage, husbands and wives, then glorifies every conceivable breech of virtue, such as sexual immorality, profane and obscene values. Real love is a mystery to most people. Most people never realize the true potential or value of love, nor do they learn to practice the art of love. It is usually very poorly defined. People think they are in love, but they can’t explain it. There is a great deal of confusion …show more content…
Romance is different from love, even though ideally, they should occur together. Romance is the emotional component of love. Romance adds the sparkle in your eyes. Romance adds the perfume and the colors. Romance embellishes the scenery and swells the music. Romance is the gilding of love. Romance is gold leaf. It is ornamentation. Romance sometimes becomes a means unto itself. It even becomes a cheap substitute for love at times. Some people seem to desire the trappings and embellishments of romance in place of genuine relationships. By comparison, romance is superficial to love. Romance is skin deep. Love is heart deep. Romance requires things that love does not require. Romance requires gifs and surprises and lavish attention. Romance sometimes demands things that contradict love. Romance is offended when the gold leaf wears off. Romance condemns love that is not eye-pleasing. Romance often injures and denigrates true love because love doesn’t always appeal to romance’s selfishness. Love is for givers, not getters. Those who demand to be loved before they will love shouldn’t be surprised if no one gives them love. Lovers live in a world of giving. The getters, the ones who are looking for love, is a different world. We have a duty to love, but we have no guarantees that we will be loved. We have it in our power to love, but we have no power to force others to love us. It is folly to spend life demanding love from
Love should be born and live in fields, just like wild flowers. Love needs to be nurtured by water, with no concern about where and when the next rainfall will take place. Love needs to allow nature to take its course and trust in the sustenance that its surrounding provides. However, love refuses to take the easy path. Instead, love decides to live in kitchens alongside irritated cooks, dirty walls and screaming infants with impatient mothers. Clearly, love would be better off without concerns, growing in a field like an iris, patiently waiting for the next rainfall. However, love chooses to exist in chaotic environments filled with discontent and discord.
For many, love is a constant search for happiness that never ends. The desire for love is longed for and pursued by every human. Many constantly seek it in self satisfaction, but are never fully satisfied with the love which they attain. The biggest reason for this is the distortion of the love which is sought for. True love is pure and selfless, the perfection of a person. It is truly something which must be cultivated in order to recognize and attain it. Love is a gift so sacred that it is worth living and dying for. “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not
Love is a powerful emotion that every human being has experience at least once in their life. There are numerous connotations that refer to this emotion, but there is only one kind of love that can make a person change completely in unexpected ways. It is the kind of love that consumes the soul and everything within. Mixed with excitement, adventure, heartbreak, happiness and joy; it is a big ball of feelings, all concentrated in one simple, yet extremely complicated necessity to have, protect, please and give all of oneself to that one person. In certain occasions, love can grow very intense and, consequently,
One of the most complicated experiences in life, love cannot be precisely defined, but some basic indications help to characterize the feeling. Love is a very deep, passionate affection one person has for another or a relationship of the same nature that implies a unique intensity of emotion. It requires an especially strong connection and compatibility between two people, usually identified by a total understanding and respect for each other and a fundamental similarity in ideology. Love can also be seen in the way it alters people’s normal behavior; when someone is in love, the object of their affection seems like the most important thing in the world, and they do extreme things for that feeling to be requited. Love cannot easily be
From fairy tales to multi-million dollar movie productions, romance and love have always been primary topics for literature and theatrical art. However, these stories have painted an unrealistic picture in society’s mind on how romantic relationships should be. This mirage is far from the truth and has created problems for people in modern romantic relationships. Love isn't sleeping with the attractive woman you met at the bar two hours ago like Mike’s friends in Jon Favreau’s film Swingers (1996). Nor is it running through the pouring rain and meeting your partner in the middle of the road and acting like it's the best part of your week. These fantasies have made communication of romantic affairs in the modern world lousy and lacking of

David Maybury-Lewis gives us viewers some insight on romantic love, being in love and just plain old love. He says that being in love is a need for possession because we feel incomplete and this is usually why we marry. The problem we have is that feeling fades. He also says that romantic love threatens the family. Societies need people who will live for their children, not those who will die for love.
Love is one of the strangest, but most powerful emotions that a person could feel. It can make a person or break one. The classic
The love story is one of the oldest and most cherished traditions in any world culture. The prevalence of romantic works throughout history, whether Greek myths, Jane Austen’s dramatic narratives, or today’s dime-a-dozen romantic novels, ultimately encourages us to believe in the power of true love. We identify with the archetypal star-crossed lovers, who combat established convention in order to assert their romance, because we too yearn for our own “happily-ever-afters.” When used in conjunction with reason, love is the highest form of compassion – without it, we could not possibly interact productively with one another or develop as individuals. But when we take a new perspective and examine love as an independent,
Love. We cannot see, we cannot taste and we cannot feel it yet it is one of the most powerful things in the world. Love can come as softly as a feather falling down from the air on a colorful louisiana street after Mardi Gras or as hard as eggs hitting the side of a house on Halloween. This four letter word has so much power over the mental sanity of a being and can break a being down to their core. There is no finite definition of love for it is different among all. Love is one of the most universal things because love does not discriminate. It can happen to all or none. Stories of love are usually cliche, with a happy marriage and solution to all problems in the end. But love doesn’t always work that way. The people in this book may be figments
Throughout a person’s life, one comes across many perspectives on the meaning of love. Love is only a four letter word with no tricky spelling. Such a small, straightforward word should have such a small and effortless meaning. However, love isn’t a small word. Love isn’t just straightforward, and it is not easy to understand.
Love is defined in numerous ways. It is one of the first and foremost feelings that each being experiences throughout their lifetime. The simple word goes a long way, as it triggers differing images to people. For instance, there is the romantic love that many aspire to have. Additionally, there is also familial and neighborly love. However, as great as love is, the authenticity of it is what discombobulates many. Love may be the feeling that is life sustaining, but at the same time, it can also be life threatening. Humans are vulnerable to fall into an untruthful love due to the fact that we fantasize over the thought of being in love. Through William Shakespeare’s tragic play, “Romeo and Juliet,” a fabricated false love is manifested.
Love is not just one single thing, and does not have one single form. There are so many different types of love that it's hard to understand exactly what love is and how you find love and how it makes people feel. Sometimes love happens and people don't even realize and don’t even realize how much it could really affect someone or something. Love also brings out tones of different emotions out of people, yes love can make you happy but it can also make you very sad, love even make someone confused or realize how much something or someone truly means to them.
In many facets of society, romantic love is portrayed as a benevolent emotion that makes everyone experiencing it eternally happy. Unfortunately, things do not always turn out that way. In reality, love is confusing, and it affects lovers in ways that they themselves do not understand. Love causes confusing and conflicting emotions that lead to intense effects which change relationships with others by making those relationships hard to understand.
