While having a conversation with the employee the manager should not pay attention to phone, e-mails or anything distracting the manager’s focus on the conversation. This also includes the manager genuinely taking an interest in his or her employee and discussing not just business but include personal conversation. For example when the manager inquires about the employee’s day or family and finds common interest this will promote a healthy relationship and result in trust and friendship. Setting an example is another important technique; if a manager expects the employee to show dedication to the workplace then he or she should do the same. If the manager’s goal is to achieve higher standards for his or her department it is important for him or her to set the example. Arriving to work on time, presenting a positive attitude, and remaining honest is important to any manager within the health organization. If a manager expects his or her employees to have the traits previously stated then he or she should lead by example. The employee in return will want to obtain these traits and respect the manager to a higher level. The theories relating to the motivational methods and techniques I have chosen to reinforce the information are the two-factor and expectancy theory. The two-factor theory was developed by Frederick Herzberg’s and falls under two categories the satisfier and hygiene factors. The two are linked and are identified as being turned
Western Health System noticed that many of its local clinic managers were leaving to join the competition. Their human resources director, Stephanie Anderson realized that they were losing a lot of talented people who had become demotivated, and she worked on developing a program to increase their motivation in hope that they would remain committed to Western Health System. Her program, Exploration, had many great features, but to truly asses the program one first has to understand motivation, motivational theories, and the current issues at hand.

Combined Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with Older Adult Drug and Alcohol Abusers is an article written by Lyle Cooper concerning the abuse or misuse of illicit drugs, prescription medications, and alcohol in older populations. Due to lack of knowledge or resources, elderly individuals are falling victim to substance use problems and the numbers are projected to rise. Therefore, an assistance program called HeLP was created to provide evidence-based treatment to the specific cohort of 50 and up age range. Motivational interviewing is used to eliminate internal uncertainties clients may have concerning their treatment; hence, opening themselves up to behavioral changes. Clients who decide to move on to the next stage and if HeLP workers deem it necessary, cognitive-behavioral therapy is implemented to promote changes in thoughts, behaviors, and prevention of future relapse.

As you may have heard, Mr. Swift has made a very modest proposal about what to do with the situation of starvation among adults. Mr. Swift has proposed that after a year of a child's birth, they be eaten if the family wishes. I, being a mother of a baby, currently, could not approve of this proposal more. Me and my husband together, concur, this will allow us to not go hungry, but also fulfill our wish to have another baby. We've always wanted more kids, but we only desire a baby. We don't want them after they have grown older. We already have an older son. Now, with this proposal, we won't go hungry and we can stay full for months on end and all I must do is push out a baby. No big deal.
Kazemi et al. (2013) discuss the impact of motivational interviewing (MI) on the number of blackouts experienced by first-time college students who are high-risk alcoholics. Specifically, the authors conducted a study on 188 college freshmen who are high-risk alcoholics to establish the patterns of their blackouts when they are placed on MI. In this text, I will discuss why the plan by Kazemi and his coauthors was effective in the first place. Secondly, I will enumerate major issues of concern. Finally, I will suggest how I can improve the plan.

'Motivation is a process that influences the direction, persistence and vigour of goal-directed behaviour. Psychology 's diverse theoretical perspectives views motivation through different lenses. (Passer, Smith, Holt, Bremner, Sutherland, Vliek., 2009, p.475). The psychological motivational theory that I
While watching “The Puzzle of Motivation” by Dan Pink, I was very intrigued. Throughout the entire talk, there were several interesting points that were made. It really interested me when Pink talked about the group that was rewarded. Pink stated that if the contestants were in the top 25% of the fastest times, they would be rewarded five dollars. With this incentive, most would hope to do well, if not better than the person that would not be rewarded. Pink then goes on to point out the results. How much faster did the group that was offered a reward actually do? On average, it took them three and a half minutes longer. This really stood out to me because when offered a reward for a task, normally a person would be more motivated and thus do better. What amazed me even more was that this isn’t just a one time thing. This is has been replicated over and over for nearly 40 years. As Pink says around 04:33, “These contingent motivators -- if you do this, then you get that -- work in some circumstances. But for a lot of tasks, they actually either don 't work or, often, they do harm.” These rewards that are being offered are being used to attempt to sharpen thinking and accelerate creativity, but instead it’s proving to do the opposite. It’s proving to dull thinking and block creativity.
The article found on the library website “Effects of Motivational Interviewing Intervention on Blackouts Among College Freshmen.” The article provides a short summary of what the article is about which provide enough information about the research strategies and implementation as well as the results obtained after it was evaluated. The article in reference represents a great similitude to the intervention sited on part III of the assignment with the main difference being the population study. The article found focus on college’s age students and substance abuse; while, the intervention in Hamilton community focus on middle school and high school students plus substance abuse. At the time of formulating an intervention, the fact that Hamilton city has a great number of young citizens as well as the necessity to create awareness at an early age direct the intervention toward a younger population in the look for preventing major health problems due to substance abuse in the look for a safe community environment.
Motivation is the force that makes us do things, whether accomplishing personal goals or completing tasks at work. Most people are motivated as a result of their individual needs being satisfied, which gives them the inspiration to perform specific behaviors for which they receive rewards (Kinicki & Williams, 2011). These needs vary from person to person, as everybody has specific needs to be satisfied. When we consider factors that determine the motivation of employees, many of us think of a high salary. This answer is correct for the reason that some employees will be motivated by money, but mostly wrong for the reason that it does not satisfy other needs to a lasting degree (Bizhelp24, 2010). This supports the idea that human
Motivation and theories -------------------------- 2.1. Definition and theory framework ------------------------------------ Motivation can be described as the driving force of individual behaviour to fulfill needs or achieve goals. Mitchell defines motivation as 'the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in certain specified behaviours' (Mullins 2002:418). In terms of this definition, various theories have been developed around.
The human mind is designed with the innate ability to achieve anything. The interesting part of this paper is how we all use different triggers and motivations to goad us into gear. Motivation is an area of psychology that has gotten a great deal of attention, especially in the recent years. There are several distinct theories of motivation we will discuss in this section. Some include basic biological forces, while others seem to transcend concrete explanation. All creatures are born with specific innate knowledge about how to survive. Animals are born with the capacity and often times knowledge of how to survive by spinning webs, building nests, avoiding danger, and reproducing. These innate tendencies are preprogrammed at birth,
Motivation is one of the most discussed topics in the present era’s organisations, especially since renowned psychologists like Maslow and Herzberg are dedicating their efforts to understanding it. Companies are investing a significant amount of resources in improving productivity in order to maximise profits. One of these important resources is of human nature. In order to get the very best out of employees, some motivational approaches need to be used. But what is motivation and how do I successfully motivate? I will try to relate one of my personal experiences with a friend to some of the most influential motivational theories. After introducing my story and making a definition of motivation I will address the ideas of Taylor,
