Throughout this unit we were asked a series of questions. The questions were based upon the selection that we had read at that time. Many times the questions had made us think about our responses. At times we were baffled because none of us knew the right answer. Maybe none of us knew the right answer because they were all right. They were all right because they were all our own opinion and beliefs. We were all right in our own way. Not all questions have to be answered with a concrete answer because some questions are opinionated questions. Opinionated questions do not have right or wrong answers because they are all based on opinions. My opinion on religion could be completely opposite of what your opinion is about religion. Everyone has an opinion, and opinions aren't wrong. Opinions make us who we are. Throughout this unit two topics that stick out are the pilgrims who journeyed to America, and love. Which I know are two completely different topics, but in a way it all comes together. …show more content…
Persona: Anne Bradstreet Love is expressed in many different ways. Love is that feeling you get that is just completely indescribable, but you know it is a good feeling. Love is an emotion and feeling that many people experience during their lifetime. Everyone wants to experience love with another person. We all want to know what it feels like to be in love. Love is such a magical feeling to experience. Throughout the poem, To My Dear and Loving Husband, many lines explain how I feel about love. This poem is written to express a woman's love for her husband. This poem expresses so much emotion and feeling. "My love is such that rivers cannot quench," (page 115) is such an excellently written line that describes how much emotion is put into just one four letter
Through life, people experience many kinds of love. Many people often believe they love someone, when they actually do not because they may not know what the word means. As much as we want to understand love, it is still simply indescribable. As C.S. Lewis tries to explain it in his book, The Four Loves, it is still a mystery as to what love truly means. I believe in order to know what love means, one must experience it. It is quite true that went two individuals are in love with each other, they know it and can feel it. No matter how much love is studied and looked at, every individual must experience it to understand it. Along with this love lies circumstances which lead
Poetry is oftentimes associated with the subjects of love and romance. Poets throughout the ages have used this medium to express their deepest emotions in the most eloquent of ways. Whether the poet is a man or woman is irrelevant. Poets of both genders have succeeded in expressing a heartfelt love to another with a poetic language that speaks volumes in a relatively short amount of text. Two poets from two separate eras each wrote a poem with just such a theme. Anne Bradstreet in “To My Dear and Loving Husband” and Edgar Allan Poe in “Annabel Lee” created magic by writing these poems that express a love for another that transcends time and place.
What is love? How is love express? Where can I find it? All in all, it is obvious to distinguish that love is the essential emotion of human every time and everywhere. Some people may confuse about that, however, it is an arduous job to describe it due to the diversity. Some people approximates the bright light of the lighthouse, which illuminates the backing way of the sailing people. Some people confirm love equals
poem wherein she’s revealing her never-ending love, devotion, and appreciation for her spouse. The fact that she was born around the seventeenth century could mean it is puritan culture for women to remain reserved, regardless of how they may truly feel; however, she makes it her obligation to make her husband aware of feelings, whether positive or negative. She uses figurative language and declarative tone through imagery, repetition, and paradoxes to send her message. "To My Dear and Loving Husband" can be interpreted in many ways by many different people depending how it is initially read. This uncertainty allows the poem to be interpreted on a surface level and on a deeper level.
In the essay, Love’s Vocabulary by Diane Ackerman, the author describes how love is something that is difficult to command or explain. Throughout the essay, she describes how love comes in different forms and strengths. People express love with art and music. Throughout the world, love is becoming a word that is used most of the time in our daily language. People see love as something that can be crueler than violence or hatred, meaning it can be very painful. Throughout the essay, Ackerman’s use of figurative language demonstrates the tone of the essay is informative for its informing the reader how there are different parts to love.
There are several different definitions for the word love. Love is a simple four-letter word, with a multitude of caring and feeling behind it. There is a difference between loving somebody and being in love with somebody. The love between two best friends or between a husband and wife are the types of love that people want to last forever. However, there are no guarantees that it will last forever. Furthermore, the love between family members and the love between a parent and child is the kind of love that will last a life time.
Everyone has their own interpretation of love. They all have their own meaning and understanding. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of love is, “strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties”. The dictionary definition tells us that it is a feeling toward someone you know and have some sort of connection with. However, to each and every person love has a different meaning that relates to how they have experienced love in the past, and what they have seen or heard about love.
A poem is a piece of writing that partakes of the nature of both speech and song that is nearly always rhythmical, usually metaphorical, and that often exhibits such formal elements as meter, rhyme, and stanza structure. In her poem, “Variations of the Word ‘“love”’,” Margaret Atwood introduces to her audience the word “love” from many different perspectives. Google defines “love” as “an intense feeling of deep affection”, or “having a deep feeling or sexual attachment to (someone).” But “love” is not something that can easily be described. Atwood goes on to present and portray the word through different illustrations, beginning with cliché examples and ending with her own personal scenarios. The author’s tone and metaphorical language effectively conveys her perspective of “love”.
Most of the poem is about a “her” that the author idolized, and how that infatuation “granted her the influence of God” (Song 9). A human cannot actually obtain the power of God, so this exaggeration shows the extent of the power a loved one’s words can hold. When idolized, that person’s words hold even more meaning than normal. For example, isn’t every single word spoken by a crush remembered and obsessed over? The last words of a deceased grandmother cherished forever? Because of love, words mean so much
When discussing the major explorers and travellers normally think about people, such as, Ibn Batuta, Christopher Columbus and other great people. But, I have a great tale to tell about a man by the name Marco Polo. Now most of you would think of the pool game when you shout “Marco!” the others call “Polo!” Well it actually relates to the man himself, Marco actually got separated from his family and responded with "Polo" as they called for him with "Marco!" Marco’s early life began without him know much about his dad, who was also a traveller, and his journeys revolved mostly on his journeys to Dadu and his life there, such as, his time serving the Khan or he Journeys around China and his return home. Upon Marco’s return from his journeys he released a book about his journeys, but many critics claimed this was a fools tale, a false journey that he developed as he rotted away within the Genoan Prison. But, on the contrary it is to my belief that his story was proven to be true because, no European had truly known what was east of the Middle east, so they believe that his tale was “bogus”, so to speak, Marco and his family had vanished from Venice for many years, so if they didn’t go easy where did they go, lastly Why would the Polo 's return to Rome in search of what the Khan had Requested if he had never met him.
Love is an essential part of human emotions and is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience, yet every person experiences love differently. Love is a variety of relationships, different feelings, states, and attitudes. Love can be a source of and answer to conflicts and obstacle in stories. A story would not be a story without love.

In general there is family love, friend love, romantic love and unconditional love. Many people have different definitions of love people. People do different things for love. Love is a deep emotional feeling toward a person. Love comes in many forms, each being expressed in slightly different ways. There is the mothers love which she has for her child; a love of self, which aids in self preservation and self worth; there is love shared abroad to friends and family members; and love between a couple. Everyday we pass by people expressing affection and love, and partake in loving experiences with the people we encounter as well. People tend to think of love as just words, a term to signify devotion, many times this type of love disappears. The existence of true love stems further than just four letters, and a lack there of can be viewed using two
Love: What is it? Love, what is it? To many people love means many things. To others, to love is to place their happiness in one another. Others love can be how they feel about that special someone. I'm not talking about the fatherly love or that motherly love. I'm talking about the love that you feel towards someone. That special someone that you could possibly spend the rest of your life with. Webster defines love as a strong feeling of attraction resulting from sexual desire; enthusiasm or fondness. But to me love is not just a feeling, but it is the way that you treat that special someone that you care for. Treating them so kindly so they'll know you care and love them. Love in my eyes, is making that
