As I look back at the past three years, there were several poignant moments when I was struggling with my classes and would have given up trying to achieve my goals. Moreover, I often volunteer to do service in my community. I have been doing volunteer work for Walk for Hunger since from 2011. Also I participate many times in school food bank, which school donates food to families who need help. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving them. I believe the most important requirement for gaining membership at National Honor Society would be a student’s personality and character. First of all, I learned to maintain a positive attitude even after my failures. I came to the United States as a freshman in 2010. At that time, I really had hard time learning English and I didn’t do well on my exams. But I didn’t give up easily. Instead, I put more efforts on my weakness and I overcame the difficulty I had. Secondly, I learned how to take care of myself and how to initiate new relationship with others, as well as how to adjust myself in new environments. That is why I make a lot of friends in my community. I am also an enthusiastic person who would like to help and motive other students. I think I can be a good role model for other younger students. Simply being invited to become a member of the National Honor Society is a privilege. It’s not necessarily surprising to me that I was invited but rather gives me an exhilarating feeling. A part of me now knows that my sedulous efforts have finally paid off. Throughout my high school career so far I’ve exhibited the four pillars, which are scholarship, leadership, character, and service. This organization administers a plethora of opportunities that has an impact on the students and the lives of others especially. To be accepted into the National Honor Society would motivate me to contribute even more to not only our school but also the community.
The four pillars of National Honor Society (NHS) include scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I have already received this application opportunity due to meeting the requirements of the scholarship portion of NHS, which requires a strong commitment to learning and putting effort towards achieving high grades in the classroom. I intend to benefit the remaining three pillars of service, leadership, and character through my willingness to work for others free of reward, initiative to lead my peers, and optimal decision making.
Being inducted into National Honors Society requires a student to demonstrate all of the four qualities many of our role models in the present and in the past have possessed, which include: scholarship, service, leadership and character. As I’m considered a candidate for this group, I already possess the quality of scholarship and it is my duty in this paper to show that I hold the other three important attributes needed to qualify for this institution.
The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. After doing some research on the National Honor Society, I learned that one must demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and service in order to be considered for membership into the National Honor Society. Therefore, by showing that I possess each of these four qualities, I can contribute to Ocoee High School as a member of the National Honor Society.
Volunteering to me didn’t seem very pleasing at first. My focus was simply getting the hours I needed to make my resume look good. However, my perspective changed when I began getting involved with the various activities of the community. I enjoyed helping and serving others, seeing the positive impact I made gave me a great satisfaction. Thankfully, I have volunteered in many areas, however there are a few organizations in which I have invested more time and effort.
I believe I qualify for membership in the National Honor Society for the reason that I love helping out with school activities and non-school activities. I find pleasure in helping out in my community and being an exceptional example for kids that may look up to me or are younger than me.
I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. I must admit that this is something that I have been looking forward to since the beginning of my high school career. I believe that this organization does great things in society and that I can play a part in furthering the impression that is made. If I were to be accepted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is one of the highest honors that can be awarded, I would consider myself to be a very lucky person. Throughout my life, I've always considered myself as someone with good character and values.I've always prided myself in always doing the right thing and helping others. In addition, I view myself as a leader, not a follower. Being a leader comes naturally to me. I'm a leader amongst my friends and siblings. They always look up to me when they have a problem or when they need advice. I have a good standard education with an A average which will help me achieve my goals in the future.
National Honor Society is an exceptional organization that promotes and motivates accomplished, versatile students. In order to qualify for National Honor Society, I believe one must have the mindset of a leader accompanied by examples of a strong moral character to support it. I have been demonstrating these qualities as an ambitious students before I began high school. Throughout my entire educational career, I have always strived to be the absolute best I can be. Being nominated for Michigan Junior Honor Society is a big deal and accomplishment for me. I really value education and I feel that this will really help me with my education and in being a better person. As my teachers did, I believe I would be a good student for MJHS. I do all sorts of activities in and out of school and in the past I’ve done many things to give back to the community.
National Honor Society is a privilege I wish to take part in. The members of this elite club are expected to represent the school, the community, and the extracurricular well. Having respectable grades is only a minute part of the program, one needs to hold themselves to a higher standard and dream big to want to excel in the club.
Humans possess a variety of qualities that come together to shape who they are as a person. What is seen on the outside is never the same as what is seen on the inside and who we are isn’t defined by our appearances but rather by our actions, our ideas, and our morals. There is more beyond what is shown through a mirror and there is more to a person than what our eyes allow to see. One quality that serves to show who I am would most definitely have to be my generosity.
