People spend an average of five hours on their phones a day from recent studies (Perez, 2017). Cell phones are a means of communicating with people more often and faster. The average cell phone user spends two hours a day using them. This shows that out of all the down time people have from school, jobs, or other activities, they are usually going to be on their cell phones. People automatically assume that it is the child who cannot take their faces out of their phones, but a lot of the times it is the parents as well. Lastly, socialization is descending with the increased utilization of cell phones. Kids and parents would rather be home communicating through their device rather than exerting the energy to be with friends and family face to face. Due to improvements of technology making communication easier, simple face-to-face communication seems like too much work. Networking is not always a bad thing if people stay focused and determined on their goals. Eventually while networking they are going to meet someone they began to show interest in. Which in many cases individuals get attached to the person their talking to and start losing focus from reality. They begin to procrastinate from doing things that actually matter to them. Cell Phones are ruining the workplace and do not help people who work in an office. When office workers use their phones while working the workers tend to not pay attention to what they are supposed to do. Over half of the time wasted at work is caused by cell phone usage. Cell phone usage distracts the office workers from talking to other workers, which in some cases can cause them to lose sales. Workers tend to get distracted while using their phones which decreases how long and how hard they work. Three in four employers say two or more hours a day are lost in productivity because employees are distracted. Cell phones are hurting the workplace because they differentiate our social behavior, they distract office workers, and cause employees to fail at performing at a high level in the office.

If parents are made aware of the negative effects technology has on children, then they will limit their screen time, have them participate in another creative activity, or become role models and not be constantly on their phones so that their children will not be at risk to obesity, cognitive malfunctions, and violence.
